The Goodwill Games, also known as Ted Turner's Games, was an international sports competition created by Ted Turner in reaction to the political troubles surrounding the Olympic Games of the 1980s. In 1979, the invasion of Afghanistan caused the United States and other Western countries to boycott the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow, an act reciprocated when the Soviet and other Eastern Bloc countries (with the exception of Romania) boycotted the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Like the Olympics, the Goodwill Games were held every four years (with the exception of the final Games), and had a summer and winter component. The Summer Goodwill Games occurred five times, between 1986 and 2001, while the Winter Goodwill Games occurred only once, in 2000. They were cancelled by Time Warner, which had bought ownership of them in 1996, due to low television ratings.
The first Games, held in Moscow in 1986, featured 182 events and attracted over 3,000 athletes representing 79 countries. World records were set by Sergey Bubka (pole vault), Jackie Joyner-Kersee (heptathlon), and both the men and women's 200 m cycle racing, by East Germany's Michael Hübner and the Soviet Union's Erika Salumäe, respectively. World records also fell at the 1990 Games in Seattle, to Mike Barrowman in the 200 m breaststroke and Nadezhda Ryashkina in the 10 km walk.
Power Hour or 21 for 21 is a drinking event where player(s) drink a specified number of alcohol shots within one hour. Variants include one shot of beer every minute for an hour or 10 shots within one hour. In the USA, a power hour event is often associated with a person's 21st birthday when they reach the legal drinking age.
Players may have difficulty completing the specified number of drinks as the rate of consumption can raise their blood alcohol content to high levels. The rate of alcohol consumption makes the players intoxicated within a short period of time.
In 2010, Power Hour LLC, who markets a DVD game named "Power Hour", registered a trademark of the same name and soon after began sending cease-and-desist orders to Ali Spagnola, a musician who had released an album also titled Power Hour. Spagnola announced her intentions to fight the claims, and an intellectual-property professor from the University of Pittsburgh stated that "if 'Power Hour' is a generic description of 'a drinking game that involves drinking a shot of alcohol each minute for an hour,' then Power Hour LLC can't have any trademark rights at all." In January 2013, courts ruled in Spagnola's favor.
United States of America Gymnastics (USA Gymnastics) or USAG is the national governing body for gymnastics in the United States. Established in 1963, USA Gymnastics is responsible for selecting and training national teams for the Olympic Games and World Championships. The mission of USA Gymnastics is to encourage participation and the pursuit of excellence in all aspects of gymnastics.
The programs governed by USAG are:
The Women's Artistic program—comprising the events vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise—is by far the most well known to the public, with several nationally televised competitions each year. Events in the Men's Artistic program include floor exercise, pommel horse, still rings, vault, parallel bars, and horizontal bar.
The Elite Program consists of regional and national training programs and competitions designed for athletes aspiring to represent the United States in international competition. Athletes participate at Developmental, Open, Pre-Elite, and National Team training camps. Only athletes at the National Team level are called "elite gymnasts".
Goodwill or Good Will may refer to:
A game is structured form of play, usually undertaken for enjoyment and sometimes used as an educational tool. Games are distinct from work, which is usually carried out for remuneration, and from art, which is more often an expression of aesthetic or ideological elements. However, the distinction is not clear-cut, and many games are also considered to be work (such as professional players of spectator sports or games) or art (such as jigsaw puzzles or games involving an artistic layout such as Mahjong, solitaire, or some video games).
Key components of games are goals, rules, challenge, and interaction. Games generally involve mental or physical stimulation, and often both. Many games help develop practical skills, serve as a form of exercise, or otherwise perform an educational, simulational, or psychological role.
Attested as early as 2600 BC, games are a universal part of human experience and present in all cultures. The Royal Game of Ur, Senet, and Mancala are some of the oldest known games.

This is a quick video compilation that contains some of my work during the past year or so. Please note that shooting videos is not my work, just a hobby. So most of the time I'm just a one man crew and I usually shoot with just the available light. Any feedback is welcome. All of this was shot on a Canon EOS 60D HDSLR. Most of these bits were filmed using Asahi Pentax Super Takumar 50mm F1.4 prime lens, but some of it was shot using 70-300mm F4-5.6 IS USM lens. Timelapses were shot using the good old kit lens (18-55mm IS). Some of the footage was graded in Magic Bullet' Mojo or Looks. Some of it isn't graded. Almost everything was shot using a modified standard picture style (because a person without experience in color grading was going to edit it and/or because of the lack of time)....

When I was in Vancouver before the 2010 Winter Olympics I noticed some imaginative ways that the Olympics symbol was being subverted through graffiti, stickers, banners and blogs. But despite the five rings being, as Angus Carlyle puts it, ‘ripe for détournement’, I was unable to find similar graphic subversions on public display when I returned to London, so I made use of what I’d seen in Vancouver and found online for this video and the installation from which it developed. The perimeter wall around the London Olympic site had so many coats of blue paint that I think the graffitists eventually just gave up. It seemed that the suppression of protest – at least in the form of publicly visible graphics – had been particularly successful in London. But as I update this text in the final d...
