Sir Topham Hatt sends for an engine from Scotland to help with the goods work, but is surprised to be presented with twin engines, Donald and Douglas. He decides to give them numbers (Donald "9", Douglas "10"), until he can decide which engine to send home. The twins try to be useful until a Spiteful Brake Van causes trouble for Douglas. Donald warns it to behave, but not before running into a signalbox, damaging his tender. James helps Douglas with the goods work, much to his disgust, until the Spiteful Brake Van starts causing trouble for him. Douglas offers to help James up the hill with a reluctant goods, but he pushes too hard and smashes the Spiteful Brake Van. Sir Topham Hatt, surveying the damage and confusion the twins have made, cannot make up his mind about which engine to send away...

I think this is the only mix I've made that truly tops my James theme in terms of catchiness, but the credit for that really ought to go to Chris Renshaw who has been absolutely KILLING IT OUT THERE with his scores for season 20. Seriously Chris, ol' buddy, ol' pal, you are doing absolutely stellar work and I can't wait to hear more of it as S20 airs (and beyond!).
This could also sort of count as a belated 850 sub special I suppose, so hey, there's that too! XD

Whilst double-heading a goods train, Donald and Douglas have an accident with a hay cart on the line, causing Donald to derail. He accuses Douglas of pushing him purposely and an argument erupts. As a result, the twins refuse to speak to one another for the rest of the day. Later, Donald is sent to help Duck at the smelter and Thomas wonders whether the twins will miss one another. It is clearly obvious that they do, but their true feelings are not brought out until Donald has an accident and Douglas is the only engine strong enough to save him. Afterwards, they realize how much they need one another.

Donald and Douglas
Donald and Douglas are two fictional steam locomotives from The Railway Series books by the Rev. W. Awdry. They also appear in Thomas & Friends, the television series based on the books. They are twin Scottish engines.
Introduction
The Fat Controller originally only ordered one engine from Scotland, but was surprised when two engines arrived, neither with numbers or any distinguishing features – both engines were painted completely black. He could not tell which engine was which, and so decided to keep whichever one was the more useful. Unfortunately, Douglas accidentally shunted Thomas' Special Coach, full of Passengers, into a siding at Tidmouth, thus infuriating the Passengers. Things worsened when Donald managed to demolish a signal box. Douglas, meanwhile, made the decision harder by helping James up a hill, succeeding in spite of James losing steam, but destroying a spiteful brake van in the process.
However, the twins proved their worth to the railway in winter, when their experience and expertise with snow made them excellent snowplough engines. The other engines appealed to the Fat Controller in "The Deputation" and he decided to keep both of them. In the Railway Series, they were painted blue shortly afterwards and given nameplates.

Thomas & Friends
Thomas & Friends (titled Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends prior to 2003) is a British children's television series. It had its first broadcast on the ITV network in Great Britain in 1984 and first aired in the United States on PBS KIDS in 2004. It is based on The Railway Series of books by the Reverend Wilbert Awdry and his son, Christopher Awdry. These books deal with the adventures of a group of anthropomorphised locomotives and road vehicles who live on the fictional Island of Sodor. The books were based on stories Wilbert told to entertain his son, Christopher, during his recovery from measles. Many of the stories from the first four series are based on events from Awdry's personal experience.

Doing a true S2 variant of the theme actually took away a bit from the awesomeness of the S20 proper version; if there was a Jupiter guitar I'd have absolutely used that. I try and stay away from the newer themes because I don't feel the need to be FIRRRSSSSS but I watched the episode and knew the Twins' theme was destined for a synthy cover. Enjoy! Love Me Tender - Donald & Douglas S20 Theme (S2 Cover)
The Scottish sensation that's sweeping our nation. Doing a true S2 variant of the theme actually took away a bit from the awesomeness of the S20 proper version; if there was a Jupiter guitar I'd have absolutely used that. I try and stay away from the newer themes because I don't feel the need to be FIRRRSSSSS but I watched the episode and knew the Twins' theme was destined for a synthy cover. Enjoy! I try and stay away from the newer themes because I don't feel the need to be FIRRRSSSSS but I watched the episode and knew the Twins' theme was destined for a synthy cover. Enjoy!

This black-and-white Douglas Aircraft Company “welcome film” dates to the early 1960s but begins with a 1924 proclamation: “World Cruisers Make Aviation History New York, N.Y.” — a nod to an accomplishment by the company after the first around-the-world flight was by a team of aviators of the United States Army Air Service (predecessor of the U.S. Air Force) using a modified Douglas DT.The trip took 175 days and covered nearly 28,000 miles. The celebration of the final landing in September 1924 is captured at mark 00:30 and kicks off film, but it is really just a blip on the radar of the company’s history.
Less than 30 second later, the scene is replaced by a passenger jet gliding through the sky as the opening credits roll. At mark 01:42 the viewer is introduced to the company president, Donald Douglas, Jr., who welcomes the viewer to the organization. At mark 02:35, the narrator recounts the origins of the company, started in 1921 by Donald Douglas, Sr., in Los Angeles. At mark 02:50, we are reminded of the Douglas Cloudster, the bi-plane designed to make the first non-stop flight coast-to-coast across the United States.
At mark 03:37 we see an image of a Douglas World Cruiser, the aircraft developed in 1924 to accomplish the first flight around the world. (Four aircraft were made for that mission — named Boston, Chicago, New Orleans, and Seattle. Chicago is now housed at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.) We also see the DC-1 and the workhorse DC-3 (which the film credits as commercial aviation’s “coming of age” aircraft), all of which were introduced in the 1920s and 1930s. “It all began in the backroom of a barbershop,” the narrator says at mark 04:38.
The company began to grow during the 1940s, bolstered by a contract to produce the C-47 Skytrain and C-54 Skymaster military transports. “In all the combined Douglas divisions built 29,385 of the airplanes produced during World War II, the announce says beginning at mark 06:06. Though the film is heavily spliced and some of the material is garbled, the viewer can also see such aircraft as the C-124 Globemasters and C-133 Cargomaster, which were introduced in the late 1950s and early 1960s. “The C-133A is capable of airlifting any of the Air Force’s … ICBM missiles as well as the necessary ground-support equipment,” we’re told starting at mark 07:15.
The D-558-1 Skystreak and D-558-2 Skyrocket are also touted as some of the aircraft Douglas created to help with national defense planning. The same held true for missile development, the narrator explains at mark 08:50, with air-to-air missiles with nuclear warheads among the weapons developed for the Air Force and the the Sparrow II a “fire and forget” weapon that allowed several to be fired at separate targets at the same time, developed for the U.S. Navy, and the MGR-1 Honest John rocket (the first nuclear-capable surface-to-air missile) made for the U.S. Army.
At mark 09:27, the viewer learns of the company’s involvement in Project Nike, involving the development of missile systems including the Nike Ajax, Nike Hercules, and Nike Zeus missiles for the Army, as well as development of the Thor ballistic missile for the Air Force. “Missiles and other military weapons systems are important to deter war in critical times,” we are told at mark 10:40.
Since the name “Douglas” had long been synonymous with commercial aviation, the film returns its focus to that avenue at mark 10:55, again touting the success of the Douglas DC-3, DC-6, and DC-7 series of aircraft, carrying passengers and cargo around the world.
The film delves closer into the development of the DC-8 aircraft beginning at mark 11:46, literally starting at the drawing board and for the next few minutes taking the viewer through the design, scheduling, purchasing or parts, and rate of fabrication and production of the final product, which comprises the remainder of the film.

Открываем новый светофор #БРИО для наших паровозиков Томас и его друзья. Это светофор, который будет регулировать проезд через перекресток. Кто будет ехать первым? Это покажет наш светофор. Красный, желтый или зеленый? Играем с деревянной железной дорогой вместе.
Откроем новы паровозик Эмили. Паровозики Эмили и Гордон будут отвозить почтовые посылки и письма ребят к Деду Морозу или как его называют еще, к Санта-Клаусу. Они приедут в дом, где живет Санта и привезут все письма, которые написали ребята со своими пожеланиями к Новому Году. Мы покажем в каком Доме живет Санта, это набор #Плэймобиль - Дом Санта-Клауса / Playmobil Christmas. В наборе есть все: от домика и человечков Санты и его помощника до мышки, гитары, книги и мяча. И, конечно же здесь есть новогодняя елка, украшенная нами игрушками, идущими в наборе. Построим большой город из деревянной железной дороги для наших паровозиков. Паровозики будут везти посылки на почтовое отделение для отправки.
Будет весело!

This documentary was recycled by the US Army to be used in different episodes of their film series "The Big Picture".
The organization that digitized this vintage video published it in separate segments. I do not know why they did not merge the segments back into the entire movie. And because I have not found it anywhere else on the internet, I have done that edit myself and posted it here. I expect that this movie has shifted into the public domain by now. It was originally produced by UAC, so there is a significant chance that it was funded by way of a US government contract, or at least through profits from such contracts.
And the people who are interviewed are of such historical importance that this documentary can be considered a treasure that people across the entire globe can benefit from.

This documentary was recycled by the US Army to be used in different episodes of their film series "The Big Picture".
The organization that digitized this vintage video published it in separate segments. I do not know why they did not merge the segments back into the entire movie. And because I have not found it anywhere else on the internet, I have done that edit myself and posted it here. I expect that this movie has shifted into the public domain by now. It was originally produced by UAC, so there is a significant chance that it was funded by way of a US government contract, or at least through profits from such contracts.
And the people who are interviewed are of such historical importance that this documentary can be considered a treasure that people across the entire globe can benefit from.
