Harlow is a predominantly new town and local government district in the west of Essex, England. Situated on the border with Hertfordshire, it occupies a large area of land on the left bank of the upper Stort Valley, which has been made navigable through other towns and features a canal section near its watermill. Old Harlow is a village-sized suburb founded by the early medieval age and most of its high street buildings are early Victorian and residential. In Old Harlow is a field named Harlowbury, a de-settled monastic area which has the remains of a chapel, a scheduled ancient monument.
The M11 motorway passes through the east of the Borough, entirely to the east of the town. Harlow has its own commercial and leisure economy. It is also an outer part of the London commuter belt and employment centre of the M11 corridor which includes Cambridge and London Stansted to the north. At the time of the 2011 Census, Harlow's population was recorded at 81,944 and its borough had the third-highest proportion of social housing in England, 26.9%, a legacy of the 1947 commitment to re-house blitzed London families after World War II and provide a percentage of homes for other needy families who cannot afford market rents.
Bob Harlow (October 21, 1899 – November 15, 1954) was a figure in the development of professional golf in the United States.
Harlow was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He began his working life as a journalist, before becoming manager of Walter Hagen, then the biggest draw in golf, in 1921. In 1930, he was hired as tournaments manager by the PGA of America and he played a key role in establishing a full-time PGA Tour. (The precise date this happened is a matter of interpretation, but money lists are available from 1934 onwards.)
Harlow was a born salesman who went from city to city persuading local clubs and businesses to support or create tournaments. He introduced ideas such as a year-round schedule, the tournament volunteer system and the PGA's merchandise show. He kept the show on the road through the Great Depression. He also managed players such as Paul Runyan, Horton Smith and Ed Dudley. In 1936, he was replaced as tournament manager by Fred Corcoran as the PGA felt he had a conflict of interest, acting as agent for certain players while he was running a tour which was expected to treat all its members equally. He went on to found Golf World magazine in 1947. In 1988, he was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Robert Nesta "Bob" Marley, OM (6 February 1945 – 11 May 1981) was a Jamaican reggae singer, songwriter, musician, and guitarist who achieved international fame and acclaim. Starting out in 1963 with the group The Wailers, he forged a distinctive songwriting and vocal style that would later resonate with audiences worldwide. The Wailers would go on to release some of the earliest reggae records with producer Lee "Scratch" Perry.
After the Wailers disbanded in 1974, Marley pursued a solo career upon his relocation to England that culminated in the release of the album Exodus in 1977, which established his worldwide reputation and produced his status as one of the world's best-selling artists of all time, with sales of more than 75 million records.Exodus stayed on the British album charts for fifty-six consecutive weeks. It included four UK hit singles: "Exodus", "Waiting in Vain", "Jamming", and "One Love". In 1978 he released the album Kaya, which included the hit singles "Is This Love" and "Satisfy My Soul".
Leslie Townes "Bob" Hope, KBE, KC*SG, KSS (May 29, 1903 – July 27, 2003), was an American comedian, vaudevillian, actor, singer, dancer, athlete, and author. With a career spanning nearly 80 years, Hope appeared in over 70 films and shorts, including a series of "Road" movies also starring Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour. In addition to hosting the Academy Awards fourteen times (more than any other host), he appeared in many stage productions and television roles and was the author of fourteen books. The song "Thanks for the Memory" is widely regarded as Hope's signature tune.
Born in London, England, Hope arrived in America with his family at the age of four and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. He began his career in show business in the early 1920s, initially on stage, and began appearing on the radio and in films in 1934. He was praised for his comedy timing, specializing in one-liners and rapid-fire delivery of jokes—which were often self-deprecating, with Hope building himself up and then tearing himself down. Celebrated for his long career performing United Service Organizations (USO) shows to entertain active service American military personnel—he made 57 tours for the USO between 1941 and 1991—Hope was declared an honorary veteran of the United States Armed Forces in 1997 by act of the U.S. Congress. He also appeared in numerous specials for NBC television, starting in 1950, and was one of the first users of cue cards.
Harry Lillis "Bing" Crosby, Jr. (May 3, 1903 – October 14, 1977) was an American singer and actor. Crosby's trademark warm bass-baritone voice made him the best-selling recording artist of the 20th century, having sold over one billion records, tapes, compact discs and digital downloads around the world.
The first multimedia star, from 1931 to 1954 Crosby was a leader in record sales, radio ratings, and motion picture grosses. His early career coincided with technical recording innovations such as the microphone. This allowed him to develop a laid-back, intimate singing style that influenced many of the popular male singers who followed him, including Perry Como,Frank Sinatra, and Dean Martin. Yank magazine recognized Crosby as the person who had done the most for American G.I. morale during World War II and, during his peak years, around 1948, American polls declared him the "most admired man alive", ahead of Jackie Robinson and Pope Pius XII. Also in 1948, the Music Digest estimated that Crosby recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.

Bob Harlow, author of Taking Out the Guesswork: A Guide to Using Research to Build Arts Audiences, delivered a keynote address at the 2016 conference of Arts Reach (http://www.wallacefoundation.org/knowledge-center/audience-development-for-the-arts/strategies-for-expanding-audiences/Pages/Taking-Out-the-Guesswork.aspx), an association of arts professionals. He showed how three arts organizations—the Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, the Clay Studio in Philadelphia and the San Francisco Girls Chorus—used audience research to attract and retain audiences that had previously eluded them.

The Mayor of Springdale We have mentioned before that fans like you and me of programs from The Golden Age of Radio are fortunate that there are people from years ago who rescued many of them from the scrap heap. Yes, they were routinely recorded over or just thrown away. Many have been lost forever in history. Some have come down to us in less than perfect condition. Now, I don’t know about you, but some are simply too good to miss even if they aren’t perfect. Today’s Story Time selection, an episode of “The Mayor of the Town” is a great example. Lionel Barrymore, Bob Hope, and Agnes Moorehead – these are the stars in today’s episode. Barrymore is the Mayor of Springdale, Hope is a guest star, and Moorehead plays quite the ruthless lady. The episode from March 31, 1943, is well into th...
You move it to the left then you go for yourself
You move it to the right if it takes all night
Now baby kinda slow with a whole lot of soul
Don't move it too last, you make it last
You know you scratch just like a monkey, yeah you do, real, yeah
You slide it to the limbo
Yeah, how low can you go?
Oh, come on baby, I don't want you to stumble now
You just grove it right here to the Harlem shuffle
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem shuffle
Oh, do the Monkey Shine now
Yeah, yeah, yeah, do the Harlem shuffle
Hitch, hitch hike baby across the floor
Whoa, whoa, whoa, I can't stand it no more
Now come on baby, now get into your slide
We're gonna ride, ride, ride, little pony, ride, yeah
Shake, shake, shake, shake your tail feather baby
Shake, shake, shake, shake your tail feather baby, one more time
