Odessa

odessa3

Odessa hails from South California but has spent much of her career in Nashville. She played with various bands with her violin and guitar playing as well as vocally. From an Alaskan folk band to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. But now she is solo and has recently released her self-titled debut full-length album.

So, to narrow it down, Odessa plays violin, guitar, is an awesome singer / songwriter, is cute, ohh and she is also an artist as in drawing / painting. Is there no end to her talents.

There is some awesome music on the album, and I want to share a sampling with you.

First up a beautiful video for a beautiful song. I love her use of a percussive beat that is laid down throughout many of her songs. This was the song that got me hooked on Odessa. Just loving it.

Odd kind of video here, a group of pious young ladies all wearing almost nuns clothes. Then they light up the ganja, and then the pagan dancing starts up. It’s all in the eyes of the beholder. But I love it.
I’m gonna have to watch it a few times more to come up with the real story line.
Meanwhile Odessa is singing a terrific song with a great backing percussion. Sort of folk, but scary folk. Very hard to pigeon hole this song, let’s just say it’s awesome.

I gather this song was featured on Grey’s Anatomy, one of those TV shows I have never seen.Whatever, it is a cool tune once again different from those featured above. Odessa certainly can bring up the changes, and her voice is beautiful. A very esoteric laid back piece.
