These are the red imported fire ants (RIFA) which are harmful to the environment and their nests are exterminated by the millions in the United States using poisons, gasoline and fire, boiling water, and very rarely molten aluminum.
From Wikipedia: "Researchers have also been experimenting with extreme temperature change to exterminate RIFAs [red imported fire ants], such as injecting liquid nitrogen or pressurized steam into RIFA nests. Besides using hot steam, pouring boiling water into ant mounds has been found effective in exterminating their nests."

I packed a fishtank completely full of water balls (water beads, water balz, orbeez, spitballs...). Im guessing there are over 10,000 in there!
Anyway, I melted a bunch of old aluminum pipes and poured them into the fishtank hoping to create a cool design. And it worked perfectly! These are really unique, no two pieces are alike.

In preperation for a large project we melted down around 660 kg of scrap aluminium into ingots. All the aluminium that we use for our castings is a cast alloy of some form. It took us four days to melt everything. The process was not without its hick-ups.
In the end we made 160 ingots for a total weight of 526 kg (1160 lb).
Our furnaces run on waste oil. We will do a video in the future showing our furnace build.

Pressing an entire roll (10m) of alu foil.
We made a big ball from the roll, and kept pressing it till it was a solid block of aluminium :) If we would have pressed further it only would break over and over again.

Aluminium
Aluminium (or aluminum; see different endings) is a chemical element in the boron group with symbol Al and atomic number 13. It is a silvery-white, soft, nonmagnetic, ductile metal. I packed a fishtank completely full of water balls (water beads, water balz, orbeez, spitballs...). Im guessing there are over 10,000 in there!
Anyway, I melted a bunch of old aluminum pipes and poured them into the fishtank hoping to create a cool design. And it worked perfectly! These are really unique, no two pieces are alike.

In preperation for a large project we melted down around 660 kg of scrap aluminium into ingots. All the aluminium that we use for our castings is a cast alloy of some form. It took us four days to melt everything. The process was not without its hick-ups.
In the end we made 160 ingots for a total weight of 526 kg (1160 lb).
Our furnaces run on waste oil. We will do a video in the future showing our furnace build.

These are the red imported fire ants (RIFA) which are harmful to the environment and their nests are exterminated by the millions in the United States using poisons, gasoline and fire, boiling water, and very rarely molten aluminum.
From Wikipedia: "Researchers have also been experimenting with extreme temperature change to exterminate RIFAs [red imported fire ants], such as injecting liquid nitrogen or pressurized steam into RIFA nests. Besides using hot steam, pouring boiling water into ant mounds has been found effective in exterminating their nests."
