Chas Cronk

Chas Cronk is an English rock singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the bassist for the Strawbs from 1973 to 1980, then again from 2004 to the present, as well as touring as part of Steve Hackett's band in the 1980s.

Chas

Chas is a municipality in Bokaro district in the state of Jharkhand, India. Chas is the sub-urban area of Bokaro Steel City. Chas is notable for a large wholesale market.

History

Once a small grain trading hub of the region, Chas became notable during the Second World War when the British government used it as a base to supply soldiers fighting in the eastern front against the Japanese. After the decision of Government of India to establish the Bokaro Steel Plant, the economic activity of Chas gathered momentum. It was the administrative headquarters of the area when Bokaro was a part of Dhanbad district, and later when Bokaro became a district itself. Later the headquarters were moved to the Bokaro steel city.

Geography

Chas is located at 23°38′N 86°10′E / 23.63°N 86.17°E / 23.63; 86.17. It has an average elevation of 210 metres (688 feet). It is situated on the junction of National Highway 23 and National Highway 32. Rick Wakeman

Richard Christopher "Rick" Wakeman (born 18 May 1949) is an English keyboardist, songwriter, television and radio presenter, author, and actor. He is best known for being in the progressive rock band Yes across five tenures between 1971 and 2004 and for his solo albums released in the 1970s.

Born and raised in west London, Wakeman intended on being a concert pianist but quit his studies at the Royal College of Music in 1969 to become a full time session musician. His early sessions included playing on "Space Oddity", among others, for David Bowie and songs by Junior's Eyes, T. Rex, Elton John, and Cat Stevens. Wakeman became a member of Strawbs in 1970 before joining Yes a year later, becoming part of the band's "classic" line-up and playing on some of their most successful and influential albums across two stints until 1980. Wakeman began a solo career during this time, in 1973; his most successful albums are his first three: The Six Wives of Henry VIII, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, and The Myths and Legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. He formed his rock band, The English Rock Ensemble, in 1974 which he continues to perform with.

Dave Cousins

Dave Cousins (born David Joseph Hindson, 7 January 1945, Hounslow, Middlesex, England) is an English singer and songwriter, who has been the leader, singer and most active songwriter of Strawbs since 1967.

Career

Cousins was a founding member of the band originally known as the Strawberry Hill Boys, which started out as a bluegrass band, but eventually moved onto to other styles (folk, folk rock, progressive rock). He has also performed as an acoustic duo with Strawbs guitarist Brian Willoughby, and as Acoustic Strawbs with Willoughby (until August 2004), Dave Lambert and Chas Cronk (since September 2004).

Cousins holds an academic degree in statistics and pure mathematics from the University of Leicester, and has also followed a career in radio. He was a producer for Denmark Radio 1969–1979, and has been Programme Controller for Radio Tees (1980–1982), and the Managing Director of Devon Air in Devon (1982–1990).

Since 1991 Cousins has been in charge of St. David's Research, and has been instrumental in many successful franchise applications business ventures involving local radio stations in the UK. Stations such as Thames Radio (Kingston-upon-Thames), Radio Victory (Portsmouth) and XFM in London. He also runs Witchwood Records, an independent record label.

Steve Hackett

Stephen Richard "Steve" Hackett (born 12 February 1950) is an English guitarist, musician, songwriter and singer. He gained prominence as lead guitarist of the English progressive rock band Genesis, which he joined in 1970 and left in 1977 to pursue a solo career. Hackett contributed to six Genesis studio albums, three live albums and seven singles. Hackett was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Genesis in 2010.

Hackett released his first solo album, Voyage of the Acolyte, while still a member of Genesis in 1975. After a series of further solo albums beginning in 1978, Hackett co-founded the supergroup GTR with another progressive guitarist, Steve Howe of Yes and Asia, in 1986. The group released the self-titled album GTR, which peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard 200 in the United States and spawned the Top 20 single "When the Heart Rules the Mind". When Hackett left GTR in 1987, the group disbanded. Hackett then resumed his solo career. He has released albums and toured worldwide on a regular basis since.
