When a strong statement is made, the statement is often followed with an example containing "even." The word "even" adds shock, surprise, or excitement to the example.
Even Though / Even When / Even If
"Even" can be combined with the words "though," "when" and "if." It emphasizes that a result is unexpected. Study the following examples and explanations to learn how these expressions differ.
Examples:
Even though John studied very hard, he still failed his English tests.
John always studied hard. But, unfortunately, he failed the tests.
Even when John studied very hard, he still failed his English tests.
Bob occassionally studied hard, but it didn't really make a difference. Every time he studied, he still failed.
Even if John studied very hard, he still failed his English tests.
John didn't normally study very hard. But in the rare situation when he did try to study hard, he still failed the test.
IMPORTANT
These expressions are not always interchangeable; the context of the sentence will affect your choice:
"Even though" is used when something is always done or a fact is mentioned.
"Even when" is used when something is occasionally done.
"Even if" is used when something is rarely done or just imagined.
Even So
"Even so" is very much like the word "but" or "however." "Even so" is different in that it is used with surprising or unexpected results.
Examples:
She is loud and unfriendly. Even so, I like her.
She is loud and unfriendly, so it is unexpected that I like her.

Hi again. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam, and today's lesson comes from a very common question I get from students. Students sometimes ask me... Like they ask me a question about grammar or whatever, and sometimes I say: "You know what? I'm not sure. I'll tell you tomorrow or I'll tell you the next day", etcetera. And then they say to me: "But you're the teacher, you should know." And I say to them, you know: "Even teachers sometimes need to learn and to continuously grow and find out new things for their students." And then of course the next question is: "What is 'even'?" And I say: "Okay, well there's your... our next lesson." Right? So today's word: "even". Many students... like they hear it all the time, but they don't really understand how it's being used. So today, I'm going to give you some examples because that's the best way to understand this word. Most of you have seen it as: "even though", "even if", or: "even when". There are other uses which we're going to look at in a minute, but first let's go over these.
But first, what does..? What does the word: "even" suggest? Okay? When you use the word: "even", you're talking about something that's very surprising. Okay? It's against expectation. What is "expectation"? When you think something will happen because something else happened. For example: if I win a million dollars, you will... You would expect that I will buy a big house or that I will go on vacation or that I will stop working. Okay? So what we're going to see is that sometimes what you think will happen is exactly the opposite or different from what actually happens, and then that's when you use the word: "even".
Let's look at the first example: "Even though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." Now, you would think: "You're late, your boss is angry." But I'm stressing that what should have been the case, he should have been angry or she should have been angry, but wasn't, even though I was late. So it's a very surprising situation. If I used only "though": "Though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." This just shows a regular contrast. Okay? Late should equal angry, it wasn't. This shows surprise because usually my boss gets angry when I'm late, - not that I'm late often -, but when I'm late, my boss gets really angry. But today, no, today my boss was calm, nothing going on. He must have had a good weekend, I don't know.
Now: "if": "If I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." That doesn't make sense. If you win the lottery, you have a lot of money so that's why I'm using: "if". And when I use: "if", I'm also adding the negative, the opposite of what is expected. "Even if I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." Okay? It depends how much the lottery is. I think Lotto 649, that's the lottery in Ontario, I think it's three million right now. In Toronto, that'll buy you a little house, maybe. So: "Even if I win".
Now: "even when". "If" is a hypothetical; maybe it will happen, maybe it won't happen, probably not. "When" we use for more realistic ideas, when something happens. "Even when he presented the evidence," - when he showed proof that something happened -, "no one believed him." Now, you think evidence, if somebody sees evidence, they believe what you're saying. But even when he presented the evidence, they didn't believe him. Very strange. I can... I put the word here "after": "Even after he showed the evidence..." If you want to talk about time lapse, this is... "When" shows at that time, "after" means later, but both work the same way in this sentence. Okay? So again: "even" means surprising or against expectations, but we are not limited to these three expressions.
Let's look at some more. Okay, now another thing to remember about this word: "even" is that it sometimes gives you extra information. Just by using this word, you should be able to understand something else. Okay? So let's look at these examples.
"No one thought Tom's joke was funny, not even Kathy." Now, only from this sentence, what can you understand about Kathy? One: you can understand that she always thinks Tom's jokes are funny, so that's why it's a little surprise that even she didn't think this was funny or you think that Kathy always laughs at every joke. Okay? So something about Kathy you can understand from this sentence even though it's not mentioned; you understand something about her personality or about her relationship with Tom, etcetera. Obviously, we need more information to know exactly what, but you understand that there's something else because of this word.

“... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is the second single taken from Anders Trentemøller’s wonderful second studio-album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” which has just been released in June 2010. The new single with the beautiful vocals of Josephine Phillip (Darkness Falls, Ja Confetti) is released in September with remixes by Pantha Du Prince and Kollektiv Turmstrasse and alternative versions from Mikael Simpson (available on a limited edition 7-inch) and Anders Trentemøller.
The new music video for the new single “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is more like a surreal short story than a video. It is directed by Adam Hashemi, a Danish film director. The story is about a man who can‘t live with himself, thus destroying his own hopes of being happy. In the beginning we see him bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents. Mildly put, the man does not like being there, he feels overly claustrophobic. He has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, even his girlriend who tries to be supportive nonetheless. From there on things take a more wacky twist, as the room gets filled with steam, and the man flies out the window. He then succumbs to the smoke and lets it take him on an adventure into a strange universe featuring women from the past. In the end, he ends up back in the house he grew up in, where he accidentally destroys the last bond between him and his girlfriend. He drifts away into unknown territory, probably the darker areas of his own mind. Based on a dream, the video ties the subconscious world with the very flat universe of social realism. In this world, there are no real rules of conduct, it is just visions that evoke emotions of something hidden deep within all of us. This can also be seen on the forever changing filmic language that starts off as being very normal (yet still timeless) and developing into a much more cinematic universe with elements of Fellini and Film Noir.
Furthermore, the “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” follows it’s own structure which is very unlike the other songs you hear on the radio. The film bases its narration on that same structure, creating an almost operatic feel. All in all, this is an experiment in the art of video making, and it will be up to an audience to say whether it is a successful experiment or not.

Even though is a song by British trip hop band Morcheeba. The track was the first single from Blood Like Lemonade, the seventh studio album released on 7 June 2010.
Song background
The track marked Skye Edwards return since her dismissal in 2003. The lyrics were inspired by reading interviews with astronauts. The message conveyed in the song reflects the worries about humanity and the actual state of the Earth.

The official music video for Even though is directed by Ian “Emma” Bonhote. Underwater shooting made for absolute matching with the song narrative. Since its premiere, the video has racked more than 1 million views on YouTube.

Another Girl
"Another Girl" is a song by the Beatles released in 1965 on the album Help! and included in the film of the same name. The song was written by Paul McCartney but credited to Lennon–McCartney. The song is directed to the singer's girlfriend who is advised the singer has found "another girl."
Composition and recording
McCartney wrote the song while holidaying in Hammamet, a resort in Tunisia. With an up-tempo swing-beat that the writer favoured ("Can't Buy Me Love", "She's a Woman") the song opens with a short refrain, powered by block vocal harmonies, that segues straight into the verse, which is constructed on the blues-mode chord changes the group currently favoured. The bridge theme makes a sudden key change up a minor third from A to C (a harmonic strategy also used on the record's next track "You're Going to Lose That Girl") and features more close three-part harmonies as the aggressively sung verse's apparent threat to a jealous girl turns into a sweet tribute to the "other" girl who "will always be my friend".

Demi (album)
Demi is the fourth studio album by American singer Demi Lovato. It was released on May 10, 2013, by Hollywood Records. Looking to transition from her self-described "generic" third album Unbroken (2011), Lovato wanted to make her fourth album to "have songs that excited her". The album incorporates pop with elements of synthpop, and bubblegum pop. The album was recorded between 2012 and 2013, when Lovato served as a judge on the second season from the American version of The X Factor.
Demi received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented Lovato's vocal performance. The album debuted number three on the US Billboard 200 with the first-week sales of 110,000 copies—the highest first-week album sales of Lovato's career. The album also reached the top five in Canada, Ireland, Italy, Mexico and Spain. The album's lead single, "Heart Attack" peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking Lovato's third US top 10 single. Second single "Made in the USA" peaked at number 80, while later singles "Neon Lights" and "Really Don't Care" both reached the top 40 peaking at 36 and 26.

Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam, and today's lesson comes from a very common question I get from students. Students sometimes ask me... Like they ask me a question about grammar or whatever, and sometimes I say: "You know what? I'm not sure. I'll tell you tomorrow or I'll tell you the next day", etcetera. And then they say to me: "But you're the teacher, you should know." And I say to them, you know: "Even teachers sometimes need to learn and to continuously grow and find out new things for their students." And then of course the next question is: "What is 'even'?" And I say: "Okay, well there's your... our next lesson." Right? So today's word: "even". Many students... like they hear it all the time, but they don't really understand how it's being used. So today, I'm going to give you some examples because that's the best way to understand this word. Most of you have seen it as: "even though", "even if", or: "even when". There are other uses which we're going to look at in a minute, but first let's go over these. But first, what does..? What does the word: "even" suggest? Okay? When you use the word: "even", you're talking about something that's very surprising. Okay? It's against expectation. What is "expectation"? When you think something will happen because something else happened. For example: if I win a million dollars, you will... You would expect that I will buy a big house or that I will go on vacation or that I will stop working. Okay? So what we're going to see is that sometimes what you think will happen is exactly the opposite or different from what actually happens, and then that's when you use the word: "even". Let's look at the first example: "Even though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." Now, you would think: "You're late, your boss is angry." But I'm stressing that what should have been the case, he should have been angry or she should have been angry, but wasn't, even though I was late. So it's a very surprising situation. If I used only "though": "Though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." This just shows a regular contrast. Okay? Late should equal angry, it wasn't. This shows surprise because usually my boss gets angry when I'm late, - not that I'm late often -, but when I'm late, my boss gets really angry. But today, no, today my boss was calm, nothing going on. He must have had a good weekend, I don't know. Now: "if": "If I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." That doesn't make sense. If you win the lottery, you have a lot of money so that's why I'm using: "if". And when I use: "if", I'm also adding the negative, the opposite of what is expected. "Even if I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." Okay? It depends how much the lottery is. I think Lotto 649, that's the lottery in Ontario, I think it's three million right now. In Toronto, that'll buy you a little house, maybe. So: "Even if I win". Now: "even when". "If" is a hypothetical; maybe it will happen, maybe it won't happen, probably not. "When" we use for more realistic ideas, when something happens. "Even when he presented the evidence," - when he showed proof that something happened -, "no one believed him." Now, you think evidence, if somebody sees evidence, they believe what you're saying. But even when he presented the evidence, they didn't believe him. Very strange. I can... I put the word here "after": "Even after he showed the evidence..." If you want to talk about time lapse, this is... "When" shows at that time, "after" means later, but both work the same way in this sentence. Okay? So again: "even" means surprising or against expectations, but we are not limited to these three expressions. Let's look at some more. Okay, now another thing to remember about this word: "even" is that it sometimes gives you extra information. Just by using this word, you should be able to understand something else. Okay? So let's look at these examples. "No one thought Tom's joke was funny, not even Kathy." Now, only from this sentence, what can you understand about Kathy? One: you can understand that she always thinks Tom's jokes are funny, so that's why it's a little surprise that even she didn't think this was funny or you think that Kathy always laughs at every joke. Okay? So something about Kathy you can understand from this sentence even though it's not mentioned; you understand something about her personality or about her relationship with Tom, etcetera. Obviously, we need more information to know exactly what, but you understand that there's something else because of this word. -

“... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is the second single taken from Anders Trentemøller’s wonderful second studio-album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” which has just been released in June 2010. The new single with the beautiful vocals of Josephine Phillip (Darkness Falls, Ja Confetti) is released in September with remixes by Pantha Du Prince and Kollektiv Turmstrasse and alternative versions from Mikael Simpson (available on a limited edition 7-inch) and Anders Trentemøller. The new music video for the new single “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is more like a surreal short story than a video. It is directed by Adam Hashemi, a Danish film director. The story is about a man who can‘t live with himself, thus destroying his own hopes of being happy. In the beginning we see him bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents. Mildly put, the man does not like being there, he feels overly claustrophobic. He has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, even his girlriend who tries to be supportive nonetheless. From there on things take a more wacky twist, as the room gets filled with steam, and the man flies out the window. He then succumbs to the smoke and lets it take him on an adventure into a strange universe featuring women from the past. In the end, he ends up back in the house he grew up in, where he accidentally destroys the last bond between him and his girlfriend. He drifts away into unknown territory, probably the darker areas of his own mind. Based on a dream, the video ties the subconscious world with the very flat universe of social realism. In this world, there are no real rules of conduct, it is just visions that evoke emotions of something hidden deep within all of us. This can also be seen on the forever changing filmic language that starts off as being very normal (yet still timeless) and developing into a much more cinematic universe with elements of Fellini and Film Noir. Furthermore, the “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” follows it’s own structure which is very unlike the other songs you hear on the radio. The film bases its narration on that same structure, creating an almost operatic feel. All in all, this is an experiment in the art of video making, and it will be up to an audience to say whether it is a successful experiment or not. Though A Meadow
As a young boy living in the country, many hours would be spent in those beautiful country meadows. I would never have realized how those childhood days would become so much of my memories. Hi again. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam, and today's lesson comes from a very common question I get from students. Students sometimes ask me... Like they ask me a question about grammar or whatever, and sometimes I say: "You know what? I'm not sure. I'll tell you tomorrow or I'll tell you the next day", etcetera. And then they say to me: "But you're the teacher, you should know." And I say to them, you know: "Even teachers sometimes need to learn and to continuously grow and find out new things for their students." And then of course the next question is: "What is 'even'?" And I say: "Okay, well there's your... our next lesson." Right? So today's word: "even". Many students... like they hear it all the time, but they don't really understand how it's being used. So today, I'm going to give you some examples because that's the best way to understand this word. Most of you have seen it as: "even though", "even if", or: "even when". There are other uses which we're going to look at in a minute, but first let's go over these.
But first, what does..? What does the word: "even" suggest? Okay? When you use the word: "even", you're talking about something that's very surprising. Okay? It's against expectation. What is "expectation"? When you think something will happen because something else happened. For example: if I win a million dollars, you will... You would expect that I will buy a big house or that I will go on vacation or that I will stop working. Okay? So what we're going to see is that sometimes what you think will happen is exactly the opposite or different from what actually happens, and then that's when you use the word: "even".
Let's look at the first example: "Even though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." Now, you would think: "You're late, your boss is angry." But I'm stressing that what should have been the case, he should have been angry or she should have been angry, but wasn't, even though I was late. So it's a very surprising situation. If I used only "though": "Though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." This just shows a regular contrast. Okay? Late should equal angry, it wasn't. This shows surprise because usually my boss gets angry when I'm late, - not that I'm late often -, but when I'm late, my boss gets really angry. But today, no, today my boss was calm, nothing going on. He must have had a good weekend, I don't know.
Now: "if": "If I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." That doesn't make sense. If you win the lottery, you have a lot of money so that's why I'm using: "if". And when I use: "if", I'm also adding the negative, the opposite of what is expected. "Even if I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." Okay? It depends how much the lottery is. I think Lotto 649, that's the lottery in Ontario, I think it's three million right now. In Toronto, that'll buy you a little house, maybe. So: "Even if I win".
Now: "even when". "If" is a hypothetical; maybe it will happen, maybe it won't happen, probably not. "When" we use for more realistic ideas, when something happens. "Even when he presented the evidence," - when he showed proof that something happened -, "no one believed him." Now, you think evidence, if somebody sees evidence, they believe what you're saying. But even when he presented the evidence, they didn't believe him. Very strange. I can... I put the word here "after": "Even after he showed the evidence..." If you want to talk about time lapse, this is... "When" shows at that time, "after" means later, but both work the same way in this sentence. Okay? So again: "even" means surprising or against expectations, but we are not limited to these three expressions.
Let's look at some more. Okay, now another thing to remember about this word: "even" is that it sometimes gives you extra information. Just by using this word, you should be able to understand something else. Okay? So let's look at these examples.
"No one thought Tom's joke was funny, not even Kathy." Now, only from this sentence, what can you understand about Kathy? One: you can understand that she always thinks Tom's jokes are funny, so that's why it's a little surprise that even she didn't think this was funny or you think that Kathy always laughs at every joke. Okay? So something about Kathy you can understand from this sentence even though it's not mentioned; you understand something about her personality or about her relationship with Tom, etcetera. Obviously, we need more information to know exactly what, but you understand that there's something else because of this word.

“... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is the second single taken from Anders Trentemøller’s wonderful second studio-album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” which has just been released in June 2010. The new single with the beautiful vocals of Josephine Phillip (Darkness Falls, Ja Confetti) is released in September with remixes by Pantha Du Prince and Kollektiv Turmstrasse and alternative versions from Mikael Simpson (available on a limited edition 7-inch) and Anders Trentemøller.
The new music video for the new single “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is more like a surreal short story than a video. It is directed by Adam Hashemi, a Danish film director. The story is about a man who can‘t live with himself, thus destroying his own hopes of being happy. In the beginning we see him bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents. Mildly put, the man does not like being there, he feels overly claustrophobic. He has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, even his girlriend who tries to be supportive nonetheless. From there on things take a more wacky twist, as the room gets filled with steam, and the man flies out the window. He then succumbs to the smoke and lets it take him on an adventure into a strange universe featuring women from the past. In the end, he ends up back in the house he grew up in, where he accidentally destroys the last bond between him and his girlfriend. He drifts away into unknown territory, probably the darker areas of his own mind. Based on a dream, the video ties the subconscious world with the very flat universe of social realism. In this world, there are no real rules of conduct, it is just visions that evoke emotions of something hidden deep within all of us. This can also be seen on the forever changing filmic language that starts off as being very normal (yet still timeless) and developing into a much more cinematic universe with elements of Fellini and Film Noir.
Furthermore, the “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” follows it’s own structure which is very unlike the other songs you hear on the radio. The film bases its narration on that same structure, creating an almost operatic feel. All in all, this is an experiment in the art of video making, and it will be up to an audience to say whether it is a successful experiment or not.

As a young boy living in the country, many hours would be spent in those beautiful country meadows. I would never have realized how those childhood days would become so much of my memories. So many hours of playing my heroes of that time. Those old western cowboys and being also a soldier during WW2. Today as I have grown older, those meadows have taken on a new meaning in my life. I have begun to see the simple beauty of a wild flower or even a bird flying along the top of the grass. The sounds of nature are more keen to my ears than it was when I was younger. As I have become more older, I have also realized that each day is a gift and to not take what God has given us for granted. As I listen to this loving song, I can picture in my mind those childhood meadows that once were a part of my growing up. Somehow they have become a very important feature in my mind of memories. When the time does come and that last breath that I am granted, I will pray that I will be able to see a beautiful meadow. The feeling of freedom at last.

Hi again. Welcome back to www.engvid.com. I'm Adam, and today's lesson comes from a very common question I get from students. Students sometimes ask me... Like they ask me a question about grammar or whatever, and sometimes I say: "You know what? I'm not sure. I'll tell you tomorrow or I'll tell you the next day", etcetera. And then they say to me: "But you're the teacher, you should know." And I say to them, you know: "Even teachers sometimes need to learn and to continuously grow and find out new things for their students." And then of course the next question is: "What is 'even'?" And I say: "Okay, well there's your... our next lesson." Right? So today's word: "even". Many students... like they hear it all the time, but they don't really understand how it's being used. So today, I'm going to give you some examples because that's the best way to understand this word. Most of you have seen it as: "even though", "even if", or: "even when". There are other uses which we're going to look at in a minute, but first let's go over these.
But first, what does..? What does the word: "even" suggest? Okay? When you use the word: "even", you're talking about something that's very surprising. Okay? It's against expectation. What is "expectation"? When you think something will happen because something else happened. For example: if I win a million dollars, you will... You would expect that I will buy a big house or that I will go on vacation or that I will stop working. Okay? So what we're going to see is that sometimes what you think will happen is exactly the opposite or different from what actually happens, and then that's when you use the word: "even".
Let's look at the first example: "Even though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." Now, you would think: "You're late, your boss is angry." But I'm stressing that what should have been the case, he should have been angry or she should have been angry, but wasn't, even though I was late. So it's a very surprising situation. If I used only "though": "Though I was late, my boss wasn't angry." This just shows a regular contrast. Okay? Late should equal angry, it wasn't. This shows surprise because usually my boss gets angry when I'm late, - not that I'm late often -, but when I'm late, my boss gets really angry. But today, no, today my boss was calm, nothing going on. He must have had a good weekend, I don't know.
Now: "if": "If I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." That doesn't make sense. If you win the lottery, you have a lot of money so that's why I'm using: "if". And when I use: "if", I'm also adding the negative, the opposite of what is expected. "Even if I win the lottery, I won't have enough money to buy a house." Okay? It depends how much the lottery is. I think Lotto 649, that's the lottery in Ontario, I think it's three million right now. In Toronto, that'll buy you a little house, maybe. So: "Even if I win".
Now: "even when". "If" is a hypothetical; maybe it will happen, maybe it won't happen, probably not. "When" we use for more realistic ideas, when something happens. "Even when he presented the evidence," - when he showed proof that something happened -, "no one believed him." Now, you think evidence, if somebody sees evidence, they believe what you're saying. But even when he presented the evidence, they didn't believe him. Very strange. I can... I put the word here "after": "Even after he showed the evidence..." If you want to talk about time lapse, this is... "When" shows at that time, "after" means later, but both work the same way in this sentence. Okay? So again: "even" means surprising or against expectations, but we are not limited to these three expressions.
Let's look at some more. Okay, now another thing to remember about this word: "even" is that it sometimes gives you extra information. Just by using this word, you should be able to understand something else. Okay? So let's look at these examples.
"No one thought Tom's joke was funny, not even Kathy." Now, only from this sentence, what can you understand about Kathy? One: you can understand that she always thinks Tom's jokes are funny, so that's why it's a little surprise that even she didn't think this was funny or you think that Kathy always laughs at every joke. Okay? So something about Kathy you can understand from this sentence even though it's not mentioned; you understand something about her personality or about her relationship with Tom, etcetera. Obviously, we need more information to know exactly what, but you understand that there's something else because of this word.

“... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is the second single taken from Anders Trentemøller’s wonderful second studio-album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” which has just been released in June 2010. The new single with the beautiful vocals of Josephine Phillip (Darkness Falls, Ja Confetti) is released in September with remixes by Pantha Du Prince and Kollektiv Turmstrasse and alternative versions from Mikael Simpson (available on a limited edition 7-inch) and Anders Trentemøller.
The new music video for the new single “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is more like a surreal short story than a video. It is directed by Adam Hashemi, a Danish film director. The story is about a man who can‘t live with himself, thus destroying his own hopes of being happy. In the beginning we see him bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents. Mildly put, the man does not like being there, he feels overly claustrophobic. He has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, even his girlriend who tries to be supportive nonetheless. From there on things take a more wacky twist, as the room gets filled with steam, and the man flies out the window. He then succumbs to the smoke and lets it take him on an adventure into a strange universe featuring women from the past. In the end, he ends up back in the house he grew up in, where he accidentally destroys the last bond between him and his girlfriend. He drifts away into unknown territory, probably the darker areas of his own mind. Based on a dream, the video ties the subconscious world with the very flat universe of social realism. In this world, there are no real rules of conduct, it is just visions that evoke emotions of something hidden deep within all of us. “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is the second single taken from Anders Trentemøller’s wonderful second studio-album “Into The Great Wide Yonder” which has just been released in June 2010. The new single with the beautiful vocals of Josephine Phillip (Darkness Falls, Ja Confetti) is released in September with remixes by Pantha Du Prince and Kollektiv Turmstrasse and alternative versions from Mikael Simpson (available on a limited edition 7-inch) and Anders Trentemøller.
The new music video for the new single “... Even Though You’re With Another Girl” is more like a surreal short story than a video. It is directed by Adam Hashemi, a Danish film director. The story is about a man who can‘t live with himself, thus destroying his own hopes of being happy. In the beginning we see him bringing his girlfriend to meet his parents. Mildly put, the man does not like being there, he feels overly claustrophobic. He has a hard time looking anyone in the eyes, even his girlriend who tries to be supportive nonetheless. From there on things take a more wacky twist, as the room gets filled with steam, and the man flies out the window. He then succumbs to the smoke and lets it take him on an adventure into a strange universe featuring women from the past. In the end, he ends up back in the house he grew up in, where he accidentally destroys the last bond between him and his girlfriend. He drifts away into unknown territory, probably the darker areas of his own mind. Based on a dream, the video ties the subconscious world with the very flat universe of social realism. In this world, there are no real rules of conduct, it is just visions that evoke emotions of something hidden deep within all of us. So many hours of playing my heroes of that time. Those old western cowboys and being also a soldier during WW2. Today as I have grown older, those meadows have taken on a new meaning in my life. I have begun to see the simple beauty of a wild flower or even a bird flying along the top of the grass. The sounds of nature are more keen to my ears than it was when I was younger. As I have become more older, I have also realized that each day is a gift and to not take what God has given us for granted. As I listen to this loving song, I can picture in my mind those childhood meadows that once were a part of my growing up. Somehow they have become a very important feature in my mind of memories. When the time does come and that last breath that I am granted, I will pray that I will be able to see a beautiful meadow. The feeling of freedom at last.
