Chesky Records is a record label founded in 1988 by brothers David and Norman Chesky. The company produces high-definition recordings of music in a variety of genres, including jazz, classical, pop, R&B, folk and world/ethnic. Some Chesky artists include McCoy Tyner, Herbie Mann, David Johansen and the Harry Smiths, Joe Henderson, Chuck Mangione, Paquito D'Rivera, Ron Carter, Larry Coryell, John Pizzarelli, Bucky Pizzarelli, Babatunde Olatunji, Ana Caram, and Rebecca Pidgeon.
Chesky Records also offers binaural recordings, which seeks to replicate 3-D stereo sound so that the recording sounds as if the listener is in the same room with the musicians. They capture this sound using dummy head recording. For its recordings, Chesky Records uses acoustically vibrant spaces, including the Hirsch Center in Greenpoint, Brooklyn and St. Paul the Apostle Church located in Manhattan.
The company has a mastering studio in New York City, New York.
Studio musician and composer David Chesky founded Chesky Records with his brother Norman in 1988. They began the label to preserve the sound of live-in-the studio recordings, without overdubbing original records. In 1990, they switched from recording in studios to recording in churches. One of the company’s first attempts at improving sound quality was the re-issue of classical pianist Earl Wild’s recordings of Rachmaninoff for Reader’s Digest.
David Chesky is an American composer best known for a contemporary style that combines elements of jazz and Latin music with more traditional classical components. He has received multiple Grammy nominations, won the Lancaster Symphony Composer’s Award in 2013, and was the composer in residence for the National Symphony orchestra of Taiwan. He is also recognized for his audio technology innovations, having been the first person to create 128x oversampled CDs and 96/24 DVD audio. He currently lives in New York City, and is the co-founder, producer, and artistic director of Chesky Records. He is also the co-founder and CEO of HDtracks.com, an online download service that offers high-fidelity recordings.
David Chesky was born in 1956 in the city of Miami in Florida, USA. In 1974, he moved to the New York City to pursue his career as a composer and a musician, studying with Pulitzer Prize winner David Del Tredici and pianist John Lewis, a member of the Modern Jazz Quintet. In 1986, David co-founded Chesky Records with his brother, Norman Chesky, and by 2008, he had co-founded and assumed the role of CEO for HDtracks.com, a website that offers high quality music for download.
David (/ˈdeɪvɪd/; Hebrew: דָּוִד, Modern David, Tiberian Dāwîḏ;ISO 259-3 Dawid; Arabic: داوُد Dāwūd; Syriac: ܕܘܝܕ Dawid; Ancient Greek: Δαυίδ; Latin: Davidus, David; Strong's: Daveed) was, according to the Books of Samuel, the second king of the United Kingdom of Israel, and according to the New Testament, an ancestor of Jesus. His life is conventionally dated to c. 1040 – 970 BCE, his reign over Judah c. 1010–970 BCE.
The Books of Samuel, 1 Kings, and 1 Chronicles are the only Old Testament sources of information on David, although the Tel Dan Stele (dated c. 850–835 BCE) contains the phrase בית דוד (bytdwd), read as "House of David", which many scholars confirm to be a likely plausible match to the existence in the mid-9th century BCE of a Judean royal dynasty called the House of David.
Depicted as a valorous warrior of great renown, and a poet and musician credited for composing much of the psalms contained in the Book of Psalms, King David is widely viewed as a righteous and effective king in battle and civil justice. He is described as a man after God's own heart in 1 Samuel 13:14 and Acts 13:22.

"A very contemporary and arguably landmark orchestral work with Baker's exciting and virtuosic playing showcased throughout." March issue of Guitar Player Magazine "One of the best "classical" pieces yet to incorporate the electric guitar. Chesky's concerto is at once excitingly virtuosic, cogently structured, and true to the instrument's roots in rock and popular music. It's exceptionally well played by Bryan Baker."
