The Middle East is at the center of everything, and is home to many ethnic groups which don't always get along.
The middle east is usually associated with muslims and arabs, but muslim arabs are only a part of the middle east. The middle east is also home to Turks, Persians, Kurds, Jews, Assyrians and many others.
Most of the countries of the middle east are muslim, but Israel is jewish, and Lebanon has a large christian minority. But islam is dividing into two main groups, the sunnis and the shias.
Shia muslims mostly live in Iran, southern Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, and Northern Yemen, while Sunni muslims are the most common muslims worldwide.
Iran and Saudi Arabia take advantage of the sunni-shia devide to claim spheres of influence in the middle east, and many conflicts split down sunni-shias lines, such as the Yemeni Civil War and the Iraqi Civil War and the Syrian Civil War
Not all muslims are arab though. Turkey and Iran are definitely not Arab and speak Turkish and Persian respectively. Most arabic speakers are arab, though many non-arabs who live near arabs speak arabic for convenience such as the Coptic Christians of Egypt and Maronite Christians of Lebanon, and the Alawites of Syria.
The President of Syria is a Shia Alawite even though the majority Syria is Sunni Arab, this contributes to tensions in the ongoing Syrian Civil War.
One sunni group fighting in the Syrian Civil War called Daesh or ISIS or ISIL decided to invade neighbouring Iraq and started the Iraqi Civil War and fought against the Shia Arabs, and the Kurds in iraqi Kurdistan.

legal analyst for CNN on Monday observed that Jared Kushner — Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior advisor — had apparently had trouble with simple political activities even though he has been tasked with fixing everything from the Middle East to the federal government.
“Another thing that’s significant here is that we’ve been told that Jared Kushner is going to solve Middle East peace,” she continued, “he is going to run the U.S. government’s China policy, he is actually going to restructure the entire U.S. federal government — when it comes to the ability to fill out forms, keep track of meetings, exercise good judgment in whether or not he should be meeting with these types of officials during the transition period, it’s all of a sudden ‘aww shucks, I’m brand new to politics.’ That’s the message that comes through loud and clear, him saying I didn’t know what I was doing. Anything that was untoward it was just an innocent mistake.”

Middle East
The Middle East (also called the Mid East) is a transcontinental region centered on Western Asia and Egypt. The corresponding adjective is Middle-Eastern and the derived noun is Middle-Easterner. Formerly, the Eurocentric synonym Near East (as opposed to Far East) was commonly used. Arabs, Azeris, Kurds, Persians, and Turks constitute the largest ethnic groups in the region by population, while Armenians, Assyrians, Circassians, Copts, Druze, Jews, Maronites, Somalis, and other ethnic and ethno-religious groups form significant minorities.
The History of the Middle East dates back to ancient times, with the (geo-political) importance of the region being recognized for millennia. Several major religions have their origins in the Middle East, including Judaism, Christianity, and Islam; the Baha'i faith, Mandaeism, Unitarian Druze, and numerous other belief systems were also established within the region. The Middle East generally has a hot, arid climate, with several major rivers providing irrigation to support agriculture in limited areas such as the Nile Delta in Egypt, the Tigris and Euphrates watersheds of Mesopotamia, and most of what is known as the Fertile Crescent. Most of the countries that border the Persian Gulf have vast reserves of crude oil, with the dictatorships of the Arabian Peninsula in particular benefiting from petroleum exports. In modern times the Middle East remains a strategically, economically, politically, culturally and religiously sensitive region.

Etymology
The word east comes from Middle English est, from Old English ēast, which itself comes from the Proto-Germanic *aus-to- or *austra- "east, toward the sunrise", from Proto-Indo-European *aus- "to shine," or "dawn". This is similar to Old High German *ōstar "to the east", Latin aurora "dawn", and Greek ēōs or heōs.Ēostre, a Germanic goddess of dawn, might have been a personification of both dawn and the cardinal points.
Navigation
By convention, the right hand side of a map is east. This convention has developed from the use of a compass, which places north at the top.
To go east using a compass for navigation, set a bearing or azimuth of 90°.
Cultural
East is the direction toward which the Earth rotates about its axis, and therefore the general direction from which the Sun appears to rise. The practice of praying towards the East is older than Christianity, but has been adopted by this religion as the Orient was thought of as containing mankind's original home. Hence, most Christian churches are oriented towards the east.

Jared Kushner
Jared Corey Kushner (born January 10, 1981) is an American businessman and investor. He is principal owner of the real estate holding and development company Kushner Properties and the newspaper publishing company The New York Observer. He is the son of American real estate developer Charles Kushner and is married to Ivanka Trump, the daughter of American real estate and entertainment mogul Donald Trump.
Early life and education
Kushner is the eldest son of Seryl (née Stadtmauer) and real estate developer Charles Kushner. He has a brother, Joshua, who is also a businessman, and two sisters, Nicole and Dara. His father has an estimated net worth of $500 million.
He was raised in a Jewish family in New Jersey. He graduated from the Frisch School, a private, coed yeshiva high school in Paramus, New Jersey, and from Harvard College in 2003 with an A.B. in sociology. According to journalist Daniel Golden, Kushner (and his brother Joshua Kushner) were admitted despite modest academic credentials after his father had made a $2.5 million donation to the university, with the Director of the school's college preparatory program describing his admission to be "an unusual choice for Harvard to make" given that he was "not anywhere near the top of his class."

The Middle East is at the center of everything, and is home to many ethnic groups which don't always get along. The middle east is usually associated with muslims and arabs, but muslim arabs are only a part of the middle east. The middle east is also home to Turks, Persians, Kurds, Jews, Assyrians and many others. Most of the countries of the middle east are muslim, but Israel is jewish, and Lebanon has a large christian minority. But islam is dividing into two main groups, the sunnis and the shias. Shia muslims mostly live in Iran, southern Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Syria, Bahrain, and Northern Yemen, while Sunni muslims are the most common muslims worldwide. One sunni group fighting in the Syrian Civil War called Daesh or ISIS or ISIL decided to invade neighbouring Iraq and started the Iraqi Civil War and fought against the Shia Arabs, and the Kurds in iraqi Kurdistan.

It is the only oasis in Syria and perhaps the only truly tourist town. Palmyra sits on the standard tourist trek around Syria and should be considered in this light.

Jerash, a city in northern Jordan, is famous for its Roman ruins. The archaeological site is popular for tourists, second only to Petra.
Located some 48 km north of the capital Amman, Jerash is known for the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Gerasa, also referred to as Antioch on the Golden River.

Baalbek is one of the most spectacular archaeological sites in Lebanon. Wadi Rum is a spectacularly scenic desert valley in southern Jordan. This area of Jordan is quite isolated and largely inhospitable to settled life. The only permanent inhabitants are several thousand Bedouin nomads and villagers. There is no real infrastructure, leaving the area quite unspoilt.

The interior of both the Dome of the Rock and the Al-Aqsa mosque are closed to non-Muslims, however, the plaza that they are situated in is open to the public.

Fifteen kilometres from Dubai is the tiny Emirate of Sharjah where life continues according to age-old Arabian tradition. Tourism was once popular on this former pirate coast but the Saudi king subsequently prohibited the consumption of alcohol and thus the tourists stayed away. On the western side of theHajar Mountains an oasis village developed that contains more than two hundred springs and wells. The oasis was once frequently occupied by Saudi Arabia but in 1974 the International Court Of Justice in the Hague ruled against the Saudi occupation. Today, Oman and the United Arab Emirates share the nine oasis villages of the Buraimi Oasis and live together in peace. Abu Dhabi is the largest of the seven Emirates and means, Father Of The Gazelle, a name derived from an ancient legend. The seventy three thousand square kilometres of the Abu Dhabi region cover eighty-six per cent of the United Arab Emirates and in the 1960’s the city had a population of five thousand that has now grown to almost a million. As the oil supplies gradually trickle away the sheiks are becoming increasingly cautious with their spending and the oil boom has now been followed by tourism in this fairy-tale holiday paradise that is full of desert romance.

And then it begins: as though on a continuous roller coaster set on sand, the horizon moves constantly as the ride follows deep ruts and then, at high acceleration, ascends high dunes, only to return downwards at stomach-churning speed. Then, in the mountains, the Wadi Water Drive follows craggy riverbeds and bumpy gravel tracks followed by further thrills in the fascinating Hajar Mountains. As one of the cradles of human civilization and a part of the Holy Land, Jordan has such invaluable monuments as the Roman city of Jerash, or the mystical capital of the Nabateans, the marvellous Petra, the city carved from red stone. Moses also lies here, but apart from that, one cannot forget the mosaics of Madaba, the national park of Dana, the hot waterfalls of Wadi Zarka and the 70 kilometers long coast of the Dead Sea. The capital, Amman, and Aqaba, which lies on the coast of the Mediterranean See, are real eastern cities with their mosques and bazaars, while the Wadi Rum with is wonderful stone arches and the Red Desert offer the tourists different kinds of experience from off road jeep tours to camel trips and Bedouin camps.

Due to all the negative media coverage in the middle east, countries in the area are heavily affected by the dwindling number of tourists. I took this opportunity to visit Egypt, Jordan and Turkey for 2 months. This video is the first part of the video where I spent 10 days in Egypt traveling alone from Cairo, Aswan to Luxor.
Even though, the number of tourists in Egypt has gone down considerably after the revolution, the country still hold one of the most historic sites and ruins of an Ancient civilization the ruled the area, the Ancient Egypt. After all, this is the only Egypt we have in the world, so don't let the media stop you from coming to this place.

The vast, isolated country of Egypt in the North Eastern corner of African is central to studies of the world’s oldest civilisations. Traveller Megan McCormick begins her journey in the sprawling city of Cairo where the most impressive monuments and fascinating sights and relics can be discovered in the old city.
The Bazaar of Khan al-Khalili is a huge market, which has been open for business since the middle ages. Megan learns about herbal medicine from a “doctor’s” clinic and sees craftsmen in the workshops at the bazaar. From here she pays a visit to the mosque at Ibn Tulun; although the site has been Islamic since the mosque was built in the 9th century AD, according to legend this was the spot where Noah’s Arc came to rest and where Moses confronted Pharaoh’s magicians.
No one comes to Cairo without seeing it’s most famous landmark, the Great Pyramids at Giza, just outside the city. They were built as the tombs of three Pharaohs, the first in a string of pyramids running all the way down the Nile to the Sudanese border. Evidence suggests that the first pyramid took hundreds of thousands of workers thirty years to construct.
Egypt was one of the earliest places where Christianity took hold and the monastery at St Antony’s, three hours to the south east of Cairo, was reputedly the very first monastery. St Antony lived as a hermit in a nearby cave for twenty years. Father Lazarus, a former university lecturer who emulates St Antony’s way of life, tells Megan why he chose to live on this mountain saturated with prayer.
En route to Siwa in Egypt’s Western Desert Megan stops at the war cemetery at El Alamein, commemorating the soldiers who fought in World War Two. Tens of thousands of young men on both sides died in the Battle of El Alamein. When she arrives in the remote oasis town of Siwa, close to the Lybian border, Megan is invited to a Siwan stag celebration. The laid-back town is famous for its dates and olives and the town centre is dominated by the crumbling remains of the 13th century fortress of Shali.
From Siwa Megan embarks on a five day desert trek to Luxor. On the way she pays a visit to the oasis town of Bahariyya, where every traveller is greeted personally by the mayor. She joins a family celebrating sebuwa, a ceremony held a week after the birth of a new baby. The following day the group heads for the historic ruins of Bagawat. Here there are 263 Coptic tombs dating back 1800 years, some of which have biblical murals painted on the interior.
Megan is relieved to arrive in Luxor at last. The West Bank of Luxor is known as Monument Valley and it’s here that you’ll find the famous Valley of the Kings. The government has invested heavily in security at major sites since the Shi’ite massacre of fifty people at Luxor in November 1997 which cast a cloud over the Egyptian tourist trade. Nevertheless Megan finds an Egyptologist to guide her around the working archaeological site and to teach her about burial practice. The next morning she has an early a breathtaking view of the entire site – by hot-air balloon.
For the final leg of her trip Megan takes a short flight from Aswan to Abu Simbel, the gateway to southern Egypt. It’s here that Ramses had his sun temple built over three thousand years ago. Four massive statues over sixty five feet tall impress upon the traveller the ruler’s strength and divinity. The temple was moved block by block to a man made mountain sixty five metres higher than its original site so as to prevent submersion by the newly created Lake Nasser.

“Another thing that’s significant here is that we’ve been told that Jared Kushner is going to solve Middle East peace,” she continued, “he is going to run the U.S. government’s China policy, he is actually going to restructure the entire U.S. federal government — when it comes to the ability to fill out forms, keep track of meetings, exercise good judgment in whether or not he should be meeting with these types of officials during the transition period, it’s all of a sudden ‘aww shucks, I’m brand new to politics.’ That’s the message that comes through loud and clear, him saying I didn’t know what I was doing.
