Kristian Jensen (born May 21, 1971) is a Danish politician who has been Minister for Foreign Affairs of Denmark and Deputy Prime Minister since 2015. He is a spokesperson for the Liberal party Venstre. He was the Minister for Taxation from 2004 to 2010 and has been a member of parliament (Folketinget) since March 11, 1998. During his time as Tax Minister, Kristian Jensen was a keen proponent of a "tax freeze."
Jensen was the Venstre's spokesman on information technology and sports from 1998 to 2001 and became its spokesman on finance policy, as well as Vice-Chairman of the Financial Affairs Committee, in 2001.
At the liberal party's congress on 17 May 2009, Kristian Jensen was elected as vice president of the liberal party, without any other candidates running for the post.
If Venstre lost the 2015 election, then Kristian Jensen was considered very likely to be the next leader of the political party. Unlike the current leader of Venstre, who is rated as very untrustworthy in polls, there are no controversies associated with Kristian Jensen. In the event, Venstre was able to form a minority government, with Jensen becoming Minister of Foreign Affairs on 28 June 2015.
Kristian is a name in several languages, often interpreted as a form of Christian.
The name is used in several languages, among them Slovak, Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, Bulgarian and Croatian.
In some languages people with the name are sometimes named after the cross, not after Christ. The word cross in in Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian is kr'st and in Russian is krest, in some cases pronounced krist. In contrast Christ in these Slavic languages is called Hristos, which confuses to which of both nouns the name sounds more similar. The name may have a third meaning in Bulgarian and Macedonian, in which the word kr'sten means baptized and has the same as the word for cross.
Though sounding similar, the words cross and Christian have different roots, Christian derives from the Koine Greek word Christós, possibly ultimately derived from the Egyptian kheru, "word" or "voice", used to replace the Biblical Hebrew term mashiach, "anointed". On the other the hand the Slavic and the English word for cross comes from the Latin word crux (cruci) "stake" which is perhaps of Phoencian or Punic (Phoencio-Carthaginian ) origin. It may come from the Latin word crio, "to torment".

In 2012, the Bodleian Libraries and the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Vatican Library) began a joint landmark digitization project to open up their collections of ancient texts to the world. The digitized collections will be in three subject areas: Greek manuscripts, 15th-century printed books (incunabula) and Hebrew manuscripts and early printed books. These areas have been chosen for the strength of the collections in both libraries and their importance for scholarship in their respective fields. With approximately two-thirds of the material coming from the Vatican Library and the remainder from the Bodleian, the digitization effort will virtually unite materials that have been dispersed between the two collections for centuries. The project, will result in approximately 1.5 million pa...
