Andre Braugher
Andre Braugher (/ˈbraʊər/; born July 1, 1962) is an American actor. He is best known for his roles as Detective Frank Pembleton on Homicide: Life on the Street from 1993 to 1998 and again in the 2000 made-for-TV film, Owen Thoreau Jr. on the TNT show Men of a Certain Age, and his Emmy-nominated performance as Captain Ray Holt on the Golden Globe-winning comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine.
Early life and education
Braugher, the youngest of four children, was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Sally, a postal worker, and Floyd Braugher, a heavy-equipment operator. He attended St. Ignatius College Prep and later graduated from Stanford University with a B.A. in theater in 1984. He then attended the Juilliard School's Drama Division (Group 17: 1984–1988), graduating with a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1988. He was acknowledged as the Most Outstanding Theater Student at graduation.
Career
Braugher's first film role was in the 1989's Glory as Thomas Searles, a free, educated black man from the North who joins the first black regiment in the Union Army. He played Kojak's side-kick in the late-1980s ABC television film revival of Kojak.

Thief (2006) - FX Mini-Series - Andre Braugher - Episode 1/6 'Pilot'
This is probably in my top 5 tv series all-time. Loved it when it aired, and I love it every time I watch it. Such a damn shame that it wasn't picked up as a series. It was advertised in early 2005 on FX, but didn't air till early 2006 for some reason, then they just dropped the show. I think it could've really been a great hit for FX had they kept it. Love Andre Braugher, and the rest of the cast hits it out of the park as well. Mae Whitman is especially good.

From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur ("Parks and Recreation"), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") and Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age," "Homicide: Life on the Street"), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective and his diverse group of colleagues get a new captain with a lot to prove.
Detective JAKE PERALTA (Samberg) is gifted enough that he's never had to work too hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he's been enabled -- if not indulged -- throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain RAY HOLT (Braugher).
Captain Holt believes in rules and regulations, two concepts that have long been overlooked by the detectives in the 99th precinct. Jake's colleagues are a brilliant and capable bunch, but lack a certain level of discipline and leadership. They compete with each other, annoy each other, gossip and flirt, but at the end of the day, they have each other's backs.
As the precinct's honorary straight arrow, Detective AMY SANTIAGO (Melissa Fumero, "One Life to Live," "Gossip Girl") is thrilled with the leadership change. Having grown up with seven brothers, Amy is extremely competitive...about everything. She is hell-bent on collaring more criminals than Jake, and she's keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Holt's next-in-command is Sergeant TERRY JEFFORDS (Terry Crews, "Bridesmaids," "Everybody Hates Chris"), a linebacker of a man who's lost his nerve after his wife had twin baby girls -- Cagney and Lacey -- and he lives in fear of not seeing them grow up.
Also working cases in Brooklyn's 99th is Detective CHARLES BOYLE (Joe Lo Truglio, "Wreck-It Ralph," "Superbad"), who idolizes Jake and is the precinct's workhorse; he's not brilliant, he's not physically gifted, but he tries harder than anyone else. Charles pines for the vocally opinionated Detective ROSA DIAZ (Stephanie Beatriz, "Modern Family," "The Closer"), with whom he stands no chance at all. Rosa is simultaneously tough, sexy and scary as hell. From Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur ("Parks and Recreation"), and starring Emmy Award winners Andy Samberg ("Saturday Night Live") and Andre Braugher ("Men of a Certain Age," "Homicide: Life on the Street"), BROOKLYN NINE-NINE is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective and his diverse group of colleagues get a new captain with a lot to prove.
Detective JAKE PERALTA (Samberg) is gifted enough that he's never had to work too hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he's been enabled -- if not indulged -- throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain RAY HOLT (Braugher).
Captain Holt believes in rules and regulations, two concepts that have long been overlooked by the detectives in the 99th precinct. Jake's colleagues are a brilliant and capable bunch, but lack a certain level of discipline and leadership. They compete with each other, annoy each other, gossip and flirt, but at the end of the day, they have each other's backs.
As the precinct's honorary straight arrow, Detective AMY SANTIAGO (Melissa Fumero, "One Life to Live," "Gossip Girl") is thrilled with the leadership change. Having grown up with seven brothers, Amy is extremely competitive...about everything. She is hell-bent on collaring more criminals than Jake, and she's keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Holt's next-in-command is Sergeant TERRY JEFFORDS (Terry Crews, "Bridesmaids," "Everybody Hates Chris"), a linebacker of a man who's lost his nerve after his wife had twin baby girls -- Cagney and Lacey -- and he lives in fear of not seeing them grow up.
Also working cases in Brooklyn's 99th is Detective CHARLES BOYLE (Joe Lo Truglio, "Wreck-It Ralph," "Superbad"), who idolizes Jake and is the precinct's workhorse; he's not brilliant, he's not physically gifted, but he tries harder than anyone else. Charles pines for the vocally opinionated Detective ROSA DIAZ (Stephanie Beatriz, "Modern Family," "The Closer"), with whom he stands no chance at all. Rosa is simultaneously tough, sexy and scary as hell. It was advertised in early 2005 on FX, but didn't air till early 2006 for some reason, then they just dropped the show. I think it could've really been a great hit for FX had they kept it. Love Andre Braugher, and the rest of the cast hits it out of the park as well. Mae Whitman is especially good.

Combining action and drama with friendship and humor, LETHAL WEAPON reboots the hit movie franchise, as it follows classic cop duo Riggs and Murtaugh, who are working a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles.
Grief-stricken after the loss of his young wife and unborn child, ex-Navy SEAL-turned-detective MARTIN RIGGS (Clayne Crawford, “Rectify”) moves to California to “start over” at the LAPD. He’s paired up with ROGER MURTAUGH (Emmy Award nominee Damon Wayans, Sr., “My Wife and Kids,” “In Living Color”), who’s just coming back to the job after a near-fatal heart attack. Riggs’ penchant for diving headfirst into the line of fire immediately clashes with Murtaugh’s prudent, by-the-book technique. It’s clear from the moment they meet, this partnership could be lethal. But during their first case together, Riggs drags Murtaugh on a high-speed chase culminating inside the Long Beach Grand Prix and into a seaport shootout with drug dealers – and despite his protests, the older cop feels more alive than he has in years. Meanwhile, Riggs gets a glimpse of why Murtaugh is so determined to get home safely at the end of each day – he’s got a family and a newborn baby of his own. By the time their investigation ends, Riggs realizes he may have found something worth living for – a partner and friend like Murtaugh. And even Murtaugh figures this arrangement might just work out after all. If only Riggs doesn’t get them killed first…
Entering its fourth season, BROOKLYN NINE-NINE returns after a season finale cliffhanger in which DETECTIVE JAKE PERALTA (Andy Samberg) and his by-the-book boss, CAPTAIN HOLT (Andre Braugher), were forced to enter the federal witness protection program.
The series, from Emmy Award-winning writer/producers Dan Goor and Michael Schur (“Parks and Recreation”), won the 2014 Golden Globe Awards for Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical (Samberg). Braugher recently earned a 2015 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, in addition to his 2014 nomination in the same category.
