Lazenby is a village in the unitary authority of Redcar and Cleveland and the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England. It is located just off the A174, a 2-minute drive away from Eston. Lazenby is very small, and has just one general store, two pubs and a social club.
Lazenby was named in the Domesday Book of 1086, depicted as an ancient village of Viking origins. During the reign of William the Conqueror the land was rented at one sovereign per year. In the Domesday book Lazenby was pronounced Leisinchbi. William De Percy, who owned land at Whitby Abbey, ploughed fields around the area, having been granted sole rites by the King at the time. The inhabitants mainly worked the land of the Lord of the Manor of Wilton. This did not alter for over 750 years until ironstone was found in the Eston Hills and people from out of the area came to settle in the village. The natives of the village realised that more could be earned in the mines and so abandoned agriculture and went to work in the mines.
George Robert Lazenby /ˈleɪzənbi/ (born 5 September 1939) is an Australian actor and former model, best known for portraying James Bond in the 1969 film On Her Majesty's Secret Service when he was 29 years old, being the youngest actor to date to have portrayed the character.
Prior to appearing as Bond, Lazenby was a model and appeared in advertising. After refusing to do another Bond film, Lazenby's career stalled in the 1970s and he moved into business and invested in real estate. He later appeared in several films and television series, including roles spoofing the James Bond character.
Lazenby has been married twice, first to Christina Gannett (1971-1995) (heiress to the Gannett News Service publishing empire) and then from 2002 to 2008 to tennis player Pam Shriver.
Lazenby was born in 1939 in Goulburn, New South Wales, at Ovada Private Hospital, to railway worker George Edward Lazenby and Sheila Joan Lazenby (née Bodel), who worked at Fosseys. He went to Goulburn Public School in his primary years, and Goulburn High until either 1953 or 1954. His sister, Barbara, was an accomplished dancer. When he was young he spent 18 months in hospital after having an operation which left him with only half a kidney.
The James Bond series focuses on a fictional British Secret Service agent created in 1953 by writer Ian Fleming, who featured him in twelve novels and two short-story collections. Since Fleming's death in 1964, eight other authors have written authorised Bond novels or novelizations: Kingsley Amis, Christopher Wood, John Gardner, Raymond Benson, Sebastian Faulks, Jeffery Deaver, William Boyd and Anthony Horowitz. The latest novel is Trigger Mortis by Anthony Horowitz, published in September 2015. Additionally Charlie Higson wrote a series on a young James Bond, and Kate Westbrook wrote three novels based on the diaries of a recurring series character, Moneypenny.
The character has also been adapted for television, radio, comic strip, video games and film. The films are the longest continually running and the third-highest-grossing film series to date, which started in 1962 with Dr. No, starring Sean Connery as Bond. As of 2016, there have been twenty-four films in the Eon Productions series. The most recent Bond film, Spectre (2015), stars Daniel Craig in his fourth portrayal of Bond; he is the sixth actor to play Bond in the Eon series. There have also been two independent productions of Bond films: Casino Royale (a 1967 spoof) and Never Say Never Again (a 1983 remake of an earlier Eon-produced film, Thunderball).
Bond, bonds, bonded, and bonding may refer to:
The Secret Intelligence Service (SIS), commonly known as MI6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6), is the British intelligence agency which supplies the British Government with foreign intelligence. (Similarly, MI5 supplies the British Government with internal British intelligence.) MI6 operates under the formal direction of the Joint Intelligence Committee (JIC) alongside the internal Security Service (MI5), the Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) and Defence Intelligence (DI).
SIS is frequently referred to by the name MI6 (Military Intelligence, Section 6), a name used as a flag of convenience during the First World War when it was known by many names. The existence of the SIS was not officially acknowledged until 1994.
In late 2010, the head of the SIS delivered what he said was the first public address by a serving chief of the agency in its then 101-year history. The remarks of Sir John Sawers primarily focused on the relationship between the need for secrecy and the goal of maintaining security within Britain. His remarks acknowledged the tensions caused by secrecy in an era of leaks and pressure for ever-greater disclosure.

After impressing audiences with his performance in On Her Majesty's Secret Service, George Lazenby decided not to return to the role that changed his world, and now he explains why to me in an exclusive interview.

A Tribute to one of the underrated (IMO) actors to play James Bond. George Lazenby portrayed Bond in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' 1969. The songs used in the video are all found on the soundtrack. The song before and after the gun barrel sequence is 'Ski Chase' and the songs after is the James Bond theme (re-recorded for this film). I hope you enjoy the video and keep checking as I will post Tributes to all the actors to play Bond.

Answering those common Bond-related questions, one question at a time. This month: Why is George Lazenby the only actor of the six to do only one Bond film?
My continuing look back at the James Bond series. George Lazenby takes over the role of 007 for one outing and Connery is lured back for one more go. http://www.HaphazardStuff.com Hey, everyone has their own personal taste when it comes to Bond films. Fans have their own favorites, their own preferences and their own ideas of what a Bond film should be. Which ones succeeded and which ones failed. While one fan might rank one as their favorite, another fan could rank it as the worst. So feel free to chime in with your thoughts, but please try to keep it above a third grade level and be respectful of other Bond Fans opinions. Tim J Morris and Dave F Williams are on the rampage again in this brilliantly witty travel feature. This week the boys slow the pace down as they take time out to explore the awe inspiring Swiss Alps. The idyllic Swiss resort of Murren is the highest permanently inhabited holiday destination in the Canton Of Bern and in 1969 provided an amazing backdrop for the cult James Bond film 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. Thousands of metres above sea level you can order lunch, or sip Vodka Martini's in the stylish rotating restaurant that was Telly Savalas silver screen bad pad. The Spy Guide team review the resort and get to know the quaint Hotel Jungfrau. Breathtaking views, snowball fights and vodka martini's galore.
