Creepin'

"Creepin'" is a song co-written and recorded by American country music singer Eric Church. It was released in July 2012 as the fourth single from his album Chief. Church wrote the song with Marv Green.

Content

The song is a mid-tempo in which the narrator describes the memory of a former lover as being similar to "creepin'". It is in the key of C major, mainly accompanied by guitars set in Drop C tuning (i.e., a whole step below drop D tuning). The song also includes a banjo, electric guitar, and several vocal effects on Church's voice.

Critical reception

Jonathan Keefe of Slant Magazine said that the song "slinks and slithers along a rhythm arrangement that owes more to vintage funk than traditional country". Giving it four stars out of five, Jessica Nicholson of Country Weekly said that it had "vivid imagery" and that "this swampy tune grabs the listener's attention from the get-go."

Kenneth Eric Church (born May 3, 1977), known professionally as Eric Church, is an American musician, singer and songwriter. Signed to Capitol Nashville since 2005, he has since released a total of five studio albums for that label. His debut album, 2006's Sinners Like Me, produced four singles on the Billboard country charts including the top 20 hits "How 'Bout You", "Two Pink Lines", and "Guys Like Me".

His second album, 2009's Carolina, produced three more singles: "Smoke a Little Smoke" and his first top 10 hits, "Love Your Love the Most" and "Hell on the Heart". 2011's Chief, his first No. 1 album, gave him his first two No. 1 singles, "Drink in My Hand" and "Springsteen", and the hits "Homeboy", "Creepin'", and "Like Jesus Does". He released his fifth studio album, Mr. Misunderstood, on November 3, 2015.

Introduction

Pigeons & Planes was established in 2008 by Jacob Moore, who began the then Blogspot site because he felt that there was no one site that covered a range of musical genres as well as music news. The site joined the Complex Media Network in 2011, and by 2012, it was announced that the site had been acquired by Complex magazine.

Stevland Hardaway Morris (born Stevland Hardaway Judkins; May 13, 1950), known by his stage name Stevie Wonder, is an American musician, singer, songwriter, record producer, and multi-instrumentalist. A child prodigy, he became one of the most creative and loved musical performers of the late 20th century. Grand Funk Railroad

Grand Funk Railroad (also known as Grand Funk) is an American blues rock band that was highly popular during the 1970s, touring extensively and playing to packed arenas worldwide. David Fricke of Rolling Stone magazine once said, "You cannot talk about rock in the 1970s without talking about Grand Funk Railroad!" Known for their crowd-pleasing arena rock style, the band was well-regarded by audiences despite a relative lack of critical acclaim. The band's name is a play on words of the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a railroad line that ran through the band's home town of Flint, Michigan.

History

Formation (1969)

Originally a trio, the band was formed in 1969 by Mark Farner (guitar, vocals) and Don Brewer (drums, vocals) from Terry Knight and the Pack, and Mel Schacher (bass) from Question Mark & the Mysterians; Knight soon became the band's manager, as well as naming the band as a play on words for the Grand Trunk Western Railroad, a well-known rail line in Michigan. First achieving recognition at the 1969 Atlanta Pop Festival, the band was signed by Capitol Records. After a raucous, well-received set on the first day of the festival, the group was asked back to play at the Second Atlanta Pop Festival the following year. Patterned after hard rock power trios such as Cream, the band, with Terry Knight's marketing savvy, developed its own popular style. In August 1969 the band released its first album titled On Time, which sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold record in 1970.
