Jessica Phyllis Lange (/læŋ/; born April 20, 1949) is an American actress who has worked in film, theater and television. The recipient of several awards, including two Oscars, three Emmys, five Golden Globes, one SAG Award and three Dorian Awards; in 1998, Entertainment Weekly listed Lange among The 25 Greatest Actresses of the '90s.
Lange was discovered by producer Dino De Laurentiis while modeling part-time for the Wilhelmina modelling agency. She made her professional film debut in his 1976 remake of the 1933 action-adventure classic King Kong, for which she won her first Golden Globe Award. In 1982, she became the first performer in forty years to receive two Oscar nominations within the same year; she won her second Golden Globe Award and the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role as a soap opera star in Tootsie and was also nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her portrayal of the troubled actress Frances Farmer, in Frances. Lange received three more nominations, for Country (1984), Sweet Dreams (1985) and Music Box (1989), before garnering a sixth Oscar nomination and winning, along with her third Golden Globe Award, the Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance as a manic depressive housewife in Blue Sky (1994). Lange was the second actress in Oscar history, after Meryl Streep, to win Best Actress after winning Best Supporting Actress; a record she held for nearly twenty years before being succeeded by Cate Blanchett in 2014. Her other films include All That Jazz (1979), The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981), Crimes of the Heart (1986), Men Don't Leave (1990), Cape Fear (1991), Rob Roy (1995), A Thousand Acres (1997), Cousin Bette (1998), Titus (1999), Big Fish (2003), Don't Come Knocking (2005), Bonneville (2006), The Vow (2012), In Secret (2013), The Gambler (2014) and Wild Oats (2016).

The iconic "Feud" star shared what it was like playing the one and only Joan Crawford and working with the talented Ryan Murphy on the hit show.
Jessica Lange ('Feud: Bette and Joan') dishes her role as iconic actress Joan Crawford and her Oscar, Tony, Emmy wins with Gold Derby editor Chris Beachum. We also chat about meeting Bette Davis back in 1983. Lange is a two-time Oscar winner, having prevailed as Best Supporting Actress for "Tootsie" (1982) and Best Actress for "Blue Sky" (1994) among her six career nominations. Along with Meryl Streep and Cate Blanchett, they are the only actresses in Academy Awards history to win supporting and then lead in their careers. She also took home a Tony Award last summer for "Long Day's Journey Into Night." With that trophy, her two Oscars, and three victories at the Emmys, she is just a Grammy away from becoming the 13th person to achieve EGOT status. Sign up to get Gold Derby’s free newslet...

Ballet for a New Generation "Henri Matisse said, 'If I told you the definition of what I painted, you'd only remember the definition and not see something for yourself.' That's how I feel about dance." Enter the world of Jessica Lang Dance, an emotive play of shape and human beauty. Jessica Lang Dance blends classical form, clean lines, and poetry. This is dance that is philosophically driven with a profound soulfulness that anyone can feel. Lang's sets are fresh and dynamic, like a moving painting and sculpture coming together. At the same time, they are incredibly sophisticated in their simplicity. Her choreography is a mix of discipline and control with raw expression. The result is deftly balanced in a way that is deeply moving.

Jessica Lang created Splendid Isolation II, an adaptation of her work Splendid Isolation, specifically for Ailey II. Set to the choral piece O Maria, Stella Maris by Trio Mediaeval and Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5 in C Sharp Minor, the work focuses on a woman enveloped in a large skirt and a man, while the rest of the dancers perform on the perimeter, isolating the couple in the center. Lang “impresses by the range of dynamics, the urge of onrushing movement in ever-changing and surprising group formations and has [the audience] spellbound with the sheer beauty of her ambitious form of dance theatre.” (Dance For You Magazine)

This is an opening title sequence I created with Michael Wilson for the movie Bonneville, starring Jessica Lange, Kathy Bates and Joan Allen. The movie was directed by Christopher Rowley. This title sequence was original used in the film when it screened at the Toronto Film Fest in 2006, but after that screening the film was re-edited and the title sequence was removed. We put a lot of hard work into this piece though and think you will enjoy it.

I love Jessica Lange and I love Taylor Shilling as they are both such wonderful actresses and this is an interview of the two of them from a few months ago that I have found and wanted to share. These two are very similar actresses who seem almost like mother and daughter. I see great things for Taylor Shilling beyond the Netflix series Orange is the new black for this young actress. So enjoy this video.
