15 lutego 1979 roku o godzinie 12:37, miał miejsce wybuch gazu w Rotundzie PKO w Warszawie. Gmach Rotundy został zniszczony w siedemdziesięciu procentach. Po odbudowaniu jej kształt nie został zmieniony.
W katastrofie 49 osób poniosło śmierć, a 135 zostało rannych -- oficjalne dane mówią o 77 hospitalizowanych. Ostatnią ranną wydobyto z ruin trzy godziny po tragedii. Grupa dwóch tysięcy robotników przeszukiwała ruiny jeszcze tydzień po katastrofie.
O pamięci osób, które zginęły do dziś przypomina tablica znajdująca się przy budynku Rotundy, gdzie co roku w dzień tragedii składane są kwiaty.
W wyniku skurczu termicznego, wywołanego niską temperaturą, zbyt mocnego dokręcenia kryzy oraz ruchów podłoża (wywołanych komunikacją nadziemną i podziemną linią średnicową PKP, oddaloną od miejsca katastrofy o 8 m) doszło do pęknięcia kopuły zaworu i powstania 77-centymetrowej szczeliny.
Zima 1979 roku nazywana była zimą stulecia ze względu na duże opady śniegu, a następnie bardzo niskie temperatury. Pokrywa śniegu uniemożliwiła wydostanie się gazu ziemnego na powierzchnię, a niska temperatura spowodowała wykroplenie się substancji zapachowej, ostrzegającej o ulatniającym się gazie.
W wyniku zbiegu okoliczności pozbawiony znacznika zapachowego gaz przedostał się do równolegle ułożonej, 12-otworowej obudowy przewodów instalacji telekomunikacyjnej a stamtąd do wnętrza budynku.
Wybuch mogło zainicjować zwarcie w instalacji elektrycznej (sama Rotunda instalacji gazowej nie miała).

Markus Schulz
Markus Schulz (English pronunciation: /ˈmɑːrkᵿs ˈʃʊlts/; German: [ˈmaʁkʊs ˈʃʊlt͡s]; born 3 February 1975), is a German-American DJ and music producer. He lives in Miami, Florida. He is best known for his weekly radio show titled Global DJ Broadcast that airs on Digitally Imported radio, After Hours FM and other online stations. He is also the founder of the label Coldharbour Recordings and Schulz Music Group (SMG), an artist management company which manages rising stars in the industry such as Nifra, Fisherman & Hawkins, Mr. Pit, Grube & Hovsepian and Adina Butar. After several spontaneous back to back performances in early 2013, Markus Schulz and Ferry Corsten announced they would be producing and touring together as the new EDM group New World Punx. Their debut arena show was held at Madison Square Garden, with global tour dates ongoing in the future.
Producing
Schulz has released six mix compilations and four artist albums under his own name. He has also released productions and albums, Thoughts Become Things and Thoughts Become Things II, under the alias Dakota. Through his work with remixing tracks, he has had the opportunity to work with such artists as: Depeche Mode, Madonna, Everything but the Girl, Jewel, OceanLab, Gabriel & Dresden, Télépopmusik, Fat Boy Slim, Miro, Book of Love, Blue Amazon, and PQM. His remixes of "Intuition" and "Stand" by Jewel both hit #1 on the Billboard club chart.

Czarny Serial - Rotunda (wybuch gazu 1979)
15 lutego 1979 roku o godzinie 12:37, miał miejsce wybuch gazu w Rotundzie PKO w Warszawie. Gmach Rotundy został zniszczony w siedemdziesięciu procentach. Po odbudowaniu jej kształt nie został zmieniony. W katastrofie 49 osób poniosło śmierć, a 135 zostało rannych -- oficjalne dane mówią o 77 hospitalizowanych. Ostatnią ranną wydobyto z ruin trzy godziny po tragedii. Grupa dwóch tysięcy robotników przeszukiwała ruiny jeszcze tydzień po katastrofie. O pamięci osób, które zginęły do dziś przypomina tablica znajdująca się przy budynku Rotundy, gdzie co roku w dzień tragedii składane są kwiaty. Zima 1979 roku nazywana była zimą stulecia ze względu na duże opady śniegu, a następnie bardzo niskie temperatury. Pokrywa śniegu uniemożliwiła wydostanie się gazu ziemnego na powierzchnię, a niska temperatura spowodowała wykroplenie się substancji zapachowej, ostrzegającej o ulatniającym się gazie.
W wyniku zbiegu okoliczności pozbawiony znacznika zapachowego gaz przedostał się do równolegle ułożonej, 12-otworowej obudowy przewodów instalacji telekomunikacyjnej a stamtąd do wnętrza budynku.
Wybuch mogło zainicjować zwarcie w instalacji elektrycznej (sama Rotunda instalacji gazowej nie miała).

15 lutego 1979 roku o godzinie 12:37, miał miejsce wybuch gazu w Rotundzie PKO w Warszawie. Gmach Rotundy został zniszczony w siedemdziesięciu procentach. Po odbudowaniu jej kształt nie został zmieniony.
W katastrofie 49 osób poniosło śmierć, a 135 zostało rannych -- oficjalne dane mówią o 77 hospitalizowanych. Ostatnią ranną wydobyto z ruin trzy godziny po tragedii. Grupa dwóch tysięcy robotników przeszukiwała ruiny jeszcze tydzień po katastrofie.
O pamięci osób, które zginęły do dziś przypomina tablica znajdująca się przy budynku Rotundy, gdzie co roku w dzień tragedii składane są kwiaty.
W wyniku skurczu termicznego, wywołanego niską temperaturą, zbyt mocnego dokręcenia kryzy oraz ruchów podłoża (wywołanych komunikacją nadziemną i podziemną linią średnicową PKP, oddaloną od miejsca katastrofy o 8 m) doszło do pęknięcia kopuły zaworu i powstania 77-centymetrowej szczeliny.

So many asylum seekers are crossing into Canada from the United States that Montreal's Olympic Stadium has been opened to house them. The first groups were bused to the stadium on Wednesday. Cots are set up in the windowless, domed facility ... "We are really stretched, really stretched," Dupuis said ... Volunteers from the Quebec Red Cross helped set up the cavernous, concrete stadium for a temporary stay with cots and food in the rotunda ... ....
