GOLDEN MATRIX - Pure Sine Wave Sound Mandala of the PHI Ratio Recorded DarvLab: Station Haleakala 2008 DarvTones™ ۞ Psychic Renderings of Realities You Should Know About ۞ Often when pursuing the subject of the Golden Ratio, one is told of or shown the simple arithmetic progression 1 1 2 3 5 8 and then usually they dwindle off there, assuming that you will understand that 13 21 34 55 89 ad infinitum are implied. I have no real problem with this, although the number 89 does irritate me somewhat ;) I was intrigued to hear the Golden Section tuning, since this ratio is one that sapiens is said to automatically find beautiful and appealing. I was rather disappointed to find that most of the Golden Ratio music i was able to acquire felt and sounded odd and not beautiful. And i couldn't find any music that was really instructive to my attention. Most of it puts a kind of damper on socializing and not just because we are not used to hearing the tuning, but also because each note is THAT MUCH HIGHER than the preceding one: there are lots of high pitches. I wanted to hear something with just the pitches: no extra instrumentation or brainwave synchronization layer or whatever. Like tuning forks, but with a much wider range of pitch than the typical fork set can provide and with longer sustain. So, i went to my tone generator on my computer and began with the typical just mentioned progression in hertz. (I think the recording starts with 5 hertz, which i think is fitting because of the relationship that numeral has with PHI.) Now I know that we are told that you can't hear anything below 20 hertz but the first 3 minutes i think of this recording are 5, 8 and 13 hertz, so if you can't hear them, just don't listen and quietly compose yourself. It may be that what comes out of the speakers is just some sort of flutter [i'm no expert on this matter] but it is flutter that is moving at the correct rate so just go with it. It is actually my impression that my brain somewhat maps in the lower tones. What i did for the first third of this recording is add a new tone around the top of every recorded minute. At minute 3, you will notice a definite increase in intensity as the first "audible" tone is sounded. Only for the first minute and the last minute does one get to "hear" [since it is inaudible 5hz] a tone in isolation. Each successive tone is added to the continuous group sounding of all previous tones. Each tone is recorded on its own separate track in a digital multi-track recorder.. It is simply a pure sine wave generated from the computer. Any beats or rhythms one perceives are simply the interference pattern developing between all the sound tones at that time. There IS NO rhythm or percussion or sequencing of any kind. THESE ARE PURE SINE WAVES SOUNDED TOGETHER. Around minute 13, things get more cranial and more intense as the pitches get higher. Hopefully by this time you are entrained enough that you can let go and not be irritated. After minute 14, you are on your own, sorry. The pitches get quite high and i add them much more quickly. My recollection is that i stopped somewhere in the vicinity of 12K hertz [even though most of us can hear well above this and the sapient ear itself is said to be able to perceive up to the 20,000 hertz range] because i did not want the recording to make one feel fried out. I actually began thinking of it as exposing the listener to intensities of radiation. So one gets a good long high frequency dose and around minute 22 i begin rolling the tones off quite rapidly, sometimes several at one time. The last 6 minutes allow one to ramp down energetically and vibrationally so that by the end the feeling should be peaceful. In my private use of this sound matrix, the state i found myself being entrained into was actually more interesting than attempting to concentrate upon and appreciate the sound somehow. It is not all that interesting intellectually on a moment-to-moment basis. The state of consciousness though was blissful and at the end i felt there was a therapeutic or healing effect. Very Relaxed. One might find it interesting to imagine oneself being exposed to greater intensities of gold or white light. Of course, one might experiment with whatever color of light seems interesting at the time. The simple black and white mandala in the video portion also leaves room for one to imagine different colors infusing it. It is a Golden Ratio mandala.
