Bruce Richardson
Bruce Richardson (born June 8, 1977, Ville Saint-Pierre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) is a former professional ice hockey player best known for his time playing for Braehead Clan and the Nottingham Panthers in the British Elite Ice Hockey League and for the Hershey Bears in the American Hockey League. Richardson was often a favourite with fans wherever he went, due to his aggressive style of play and determination. He is currently the head coach of the Victoriaville Tigres in the QMJHL.
Playing career
North America
Bruce Richardson started his 18-year playing career in Quebec, with the Sherbrooke Faucons in the QMJHL. He stayed there for 3 and a half years, playing over a hundred games before moving onto the Chicoutimi Saguenéens in the same league.
Most of Richardson's time in North America was spent at the Hershey Bears in Pennsylvania. During his first year there he was coached by Bob Hartley, who went on to become a Stanley Cup winning coach with the Colorado Avalanche in 2000-01. He is remembered fondly by the Bears fans, racking up a total of over 150 games in his two spells there, and was named their 'Unsung Hero' for the 1998-99 season. Hershey is also where Richardson met Tim Wedderburn and Jordan Krestanovich, who he became friends with and signed for the Braehead Clan in his first coaching role.

Sheffield Steelers
The Sheffield Steelers is a professional ice hockey team located in Sheffield, England. It was formed in 1991 (see 1991 in sport) and plays its home games at the Sheffield Arena. It is currently a member of the Elite Ice Hockey League, where they are the current league champions. The club's main (title) sponsor is Sheffield Window Centre.
History
Ice Hockey existed in amateur form in Sheffield, but the sport began its return to an era of arenas and stadium size crowds with the opening of the Sheffield Arena in 1991 and the creation of the Sheffield Steelers — the ice hockey team that was to occupy the new arena. The Sheffield Arena was built as part of the city's facilities for the staging of the World Student Games, and is a sizeable stadium originally seating 8,500 and located close to the city centre. Ronnie Wood and David Gardener-Brown were at the helm as the Marketing Director at the club and set about promoting ice hockey to a city raised on the footballing success of Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. Wood had a specific target, seeking to attract children and families to the city's new sporting Arena. As he stated in an interview in Liam Sluyter's A Game of Three Halves (Mainstream Publishing, 1998) "we were sending guys around schools. We wrote to all the schools in Sheffield and said "Bring the kids, see the Arena, sit down, experience the whole thing" ". They also began taking players to local football matches and parading them around the ground with mascots in an attempt to pull in football fans too. Another marketing ploy was to give certain players nicknames to help the crowd associate with the new (and as yet unknown) players. This was an idea hatched by the announcer Dave Simms.

Braehead Clan
Braehead Clan are a Scottish professional ice hockey team. They were formed in 2010 as the UK Elite Ice Hockey League expanded into the West of Scotland market, and are based at the 3,600 capacity Braehead Arena in Renfrewshire, around two miles outside the Glasgow City limits. They are currently one of four Scottish clubs playing in the top British league, alongside the Dundee Stars, Edinburgh Capitals and the Fife Flyers.
History
Braehead Arena previously hosted the Scottish Eagles ice hockey team for a brief period at beginning of the 2002–2003 ISL season following their relocation from Ayr. The Eagles disbanded in November 2002 due to financial troubles. When the Superleague’s successor, the Elite Ice Hockey League was formed, initial plans included a new Glasgow-based team as being amongst the founding clubs, but this never materialised.
Following the 2008–09 season, the Elite League lost two teams with the resignations of the Basingstoke Bison and Manchester Phoenix, leaving the league with eight participating teams for the 2009–10 season. The Elite League subsequently announced the formation of the Braehead Clan as a ninth team for beginning with the 2010-11 season. The team’s ownership was announced as consisting of several of the Elite League's existing team owners, including Nottingham’s Neil Black.

The Braehead Clan got off to a flyer against the Sheffield Steelers with Matt Towe (49 sec) and Ed McGrane (3.21) putting Ryan Finnerty's men 2-0 ahead. Chris Blight (6.36) and Robert Dowd (10.18) had the game tied 2-2 before McGrane scored his second to give the Clan the lead, 3-2 at the end of the first period. They can attend school to learn the teachings of The Angel, an extraterrestrial being that arrived in Sunderland 10 years ago, and "Evolve" like their parents who were turned into mindless zombies, or they can fall; living their lives in the wasteland at the edge of the community where their small rebellions are tolerated as long as they remain within the confines of Sunderland. Like some of the other children David has already decided to fall when the time comes, but he has his own reasons: The Angel killed David's mother.

Clan went into this one without a win in their last five games against the Stingrays and at the end of this one it was six games without a win after they lost out on penalty shots. They were a goal to the good with two minutes remaining and the visitors levelled it with 62 seconds remaining to send the game into overtime and eventually penalties.
It was the Stingrays who netted the only goal of the opening session as marksman Guillaume Doucet was on target at 6.08. Whilst at the other end goaltender Bowns put up the blockers.
The teams traded goals in the second stanza, Neil Trimm got the home side level at 34.52 and then Bobby Chamberlain fired home to cancel that marker out at 37.44 to give the visitors a slender one goal lead going into the third period.
With only two seconds on the clock in the third period Chris Frank (Clan) and Jeff Smith (Stingrays) went toe to toe and ended up in the bin on 5 minute fighting majors. Eighteen seconds later the game was all square for the second time as Matt Haywood scored for the Clan.
The home side went in front for the first time at 57.35 with a powerplay goal from Kenton Smith. They failed to hold onto this lead and Carl Lauzon got the goal that took the game into overtime at 58.58. The overtime period failed to find a winner and in the penalty shootout Lauzon was the only player to find the target as the Stingrays picked up the extra point.

Braehead Clan made a dramatic return to form with an early opening goal from Goldie (0.52) with Nottingham starting their scoring soon after Werner (3.35) equalised. Cullen (8.13) saw Clan take the lead again at 2-1 with McGrane (9.13) stretching it to 3-1. Nottingham's Henley was ejected from the game (9.53) after a series of blows to Frank. Goldie (13:58) scored his second goal of the night on the powerplay giving Clan a 4-1 lead at the end of the first period.
Green replaced Kowalski for Nottingham in goals at the start of the second period but in another powerplay goal, Cullen (24.14) made it 5-1. Nottingham pulled one back from Salters (26.59) with Farmer instigated a fight with Haywood and picked up a 2+10 penalty. Aarson (34.14) made it 6-2, the score which saw us through to the end of the second period.
The third period saw McGrane (50.22) pick up his second goal of the night and Salters and Harper both received 10 minute misconduct penalties. Clan TV frontman Gerry McLaughlin caught up with new player Scott Pitt, Asiago coach John Parco and our very own Ryan Finnerty after the fledgling team's nerve-wracking penalty shootout victory in the 2014 Aladdin Cup.
The Braehead Clan regained the Aladdin Cup after defeating Italian opponents Asiago on the night and on penalty shots.
Despite creating many good chances in the first, the Clan went in at the interval a goal down after Diego Iori's shot escaped Kyle Jones in Braehead Clan.
Braehead equalised during the middle period when Neil Trimm's well executed diagonal pass was tapped away by debutant Scott Pitt.
Then Matt Keith concluded a fantastic solo effort by lifting the puck into the roof of the net to make it 2-1.
Lee Esders added a third shorthanded as he swept down the inside right and sent his shot flying past Asiago goalie Vince Marozzi.
Daniel Borrelli pulled it back to 3-2, but Pitt poked it over the line for his second of the night as Braehead went 4-2 up on the powerplay.
Then Stefan Meyer rounded things off with an empty net goal on 59:17 to make it 5-2 for Braehead, tying the series at 1-1.
The scheduled extra 20 minute period was scrapped as both sides agreed to settle the contest on penalty shots.
And it was Derek Roehl who came up trumps to despatch the winning penalty shot and clinch the Aladdin Cup.
Afterwards, head coach Ryan Finnerty said: "We played better today and it was a good exercise for this time of the year.
"We still have a long way to go in terms of systems, but the guys looked more energised and dominated a lot of the play. It's been a good night."

Chris Blight (6.36) and Robert Dowd (10.18) had the game tied 2-2 before McGrane scored his second to give the Clan the lead, 3-2 at the end of the first period.
Steelers were on level terms 93 seconds into the middle period when Dowd scored his second and went ahead (3-4) when Blight scored once again.
Sheffield's Jeff Legue put distance between the two sides (3-5) at 38.21 and took that 2 goal advantage into the second break.

Braehead became the first ever Scottish team to make the end of season Play-Finals after they beat Nottingham in the 2nd leg 5-1 to win 9-1 on aggregate. With a four goal lead from the first leg it took them until the third period when Nottingham ran into penalty trouble to win on the night.
