Ain't No Other Man

"Ain't No Other Man" is a song recorded by American singer Christina Aguilera for her fifth studio album, Back to Basics (2006). It was released on June 6, 2006 by RCA Records as the lead single from the album. The song was written by Aguilera, DJ Premier, Charles Martin Roane, Kara DioGuardi, and Harold Beatty, and was produced by Premier. "Ain't No Other Man" is described as a pop/R&B and funk song that incorporates elements of soul, blues and jazz music. Lyrically, the song was inspired by her marriage to Jordan Bratman in 2005.

"Ain't No Other Man" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented the track's musical style and deemed it as a standout on Back to Basics. It won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2007 ceremony. Commercially, the track peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of one million copies. Elsewhere, the song reached the top five of record charts of several countries including Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and United Kingdom.

No Other

No Other is the fourth solo studio album by Gene Clark. On release in late 1974 it was a critical and commercial failure; the studio time and cost were seen as excessive and indulgent. The record label, Asylum Records, did not promote the album, and by 1976 had deleted it from their catalog. Clark never recovered from the failure of the album. Just after Clark's death in 1991, "No Other" was reissued in its entirety on CD. In 1998, a double disc compilation, Flying High, was released with three songs from No Other. Then in the early 2000s, No Other was reissued a second time in its entirety to positive critical reappraisal.

Background

In late 1972, Clark was invited to join a reunion of the original Byrds line-up on Asylum Records. The resulting album was a showcase for Clark, who sang on two Neil Young covers and two original songs. By the strength of his contributions to the album, Clark was signed to Asylum as a solo artist by David Geffen.

While preparing to record, Clark briefly joined the backing group of former Byrds colleague Roger McGuinn; the two even shared a home together during the period in the Hollywood Hills overlooking the Pacific Ocean. During an engagement at The Troubadour in Los Angeles with McGuinn, he introduced a song that would remain in his repertoire for the rest of his career, "Silver Raven"; it would be recorded in an arrangement featuring Jesse Ed Davis and L.A. session player Danny Kortchmar on No Other. Of the song's composition, Clark said in a 1976 interview:

Dave Hause

Dave Hause, born David Andrew Hause, March 12, 1978 is an American singer-songwriter who has played in multiple Philadelphia, PA area punk and hardcore bands. He currently performs solo as well as sings and plays guitar in The Loved Ones.

Music and career

In the mid-90s, Hause played guitar in a Philadelphia-based hardcore/punk band called Step Ahead, who released one album. After they broke up, Hause and Brendan Hill, the drummer from Step Ahead, formed The Curse. The Curse, which featured Hause on guitar and sharing vocals, released two songs on the four-way split album The Philadelphia Sound and released a six-track EP on Hell Bent Records before playing their last show on April 12, 2003 opening for Kid Dynamite. While with The Curse, he also played guitar and sang back-up vocals for Paint It Black.

Then in April 2004, he formed The Loved Ones with former Kid Dynamite member Michael "Spider" Cotterman and former Trial By Fire drummer Mike Sneeringer. Shortly after, in July 2004, he quit Paint It Black to focus on The Loved Ones.

Caitlin Rose

Caitlin Rose (born June 23, 1987) is a country singer from Nashville, Tennessee.

Career

Rose was previously the lead singer of Nashville indie band Save Macaulay, on local label Theory 8 until 2007. As a solo artist, she signed to BMI in 2008. The title track of her seven-track 2008 EP, Dead Flowers, is a cover of a Rolling Stones song.

Her first album, Own Side Now, was released by Names Records in August 2010. Her vocal performance and lyrics have led to comparisons to Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, and Iris DeMent. Claire Suddath of Time magazine named Own Side Now one of the Top 10 Albums of 2011, ranking it at No. 7.

Her studio album, The Stand-In, was released on February 25, 2013.

"Ain't No Other Man" is a song recorded by American singer Christina Aguilera for her fifth studio album, Back to Basics (2006). It was released on June 6, 2006 by RCA Records as the lead single from the album. The song was written by Aguilera, DJ Premier, Charles Martin Roane, Kara DioGuardi, and Harold Beatty, and was produced by Premier. "Ain't No Other Man" is described as a pop/R&B; and funk song that incorporates elements of soul, blues and jazz music. Lyrically, the song was inspired by her marriage to Jordan Bratman in 2005. "Ain't No Other Man" received generally favorable reviews from music critics, who complimented the track's musical style and deemed it as a standout on Back to Basics. It won a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the 2007 ceremony. Commercially, the track peaked at number 6 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) for shipments of one million copies. Elsewhere, the song reached the top five of record charts of several countries including Australia, Italy, New Zealand, and United Kingdom. A music video for "Ain't No Other Man" was directed by Bryan Barber. The video jumps back in time and depicts Aguilera as her then newly established alter ego Baby Jane. The visual was praised for the "mature" image that Aguilera adopted. It earned four nominations at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards, including Video of the Year. Aguilera performed "Ain't No Other Man" during several television performances, including the 2006 MTV Movie Awards and the 2007 NBA All-Star Game.
