The Conjuring

The Conjuring is a 2013 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan.Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga star as Ed and Lorraine Warren, paranormal investigators and authors associated with prominent cases of haunting. Their reports inspired the Amityville Horror. The Warrens come to the assistance of the Perron family (Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor), who are experiencing increasingly disturbing events in their farmhouse in Rhode Island in 1971.

The Conjuring was released in the United States and Canada on July 19, 2013, and in the United Kingdom and India on August 6, 2013. The film received positive reviews from critics and grossed over $318 million worldwide from its $20 million budget, making it one of the highest-grossing horror films of all time. A sequel, The Conjuring 2, is scheduled to be released on June 10, 2016.

Plot

In 1971, Roger and Carolyn Perron move into a dilapidated farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island with their five daughters Andrea, Nancy, Christine, Cindy, and April. During the first day, their move goes smoothly, though their dog Sadie refuses to enter the house and one of the daughters finds a boarded up entrance to a cellar.

The Conjuring 2, also known under the working title of The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, is an upcoming American supernatural horror film directed by James Wan. The film was written by Carey Hayes, Chad Hayes, Wan, and David Leslie Johnson. It is the sequel to the horror film The Conjuring, which was released on July 19, 2013. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga reprise their roles as paranormal investigators and authors Ed and Lorraine Warren, who travel to England to investigate poltergeist activity at a council house in Enfield.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on June 10, 2016 by Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema.

Virtual International Authority File

The Virtual International Authority File (VIAF) is an international authority file. It is a joint project of several national libraries and operated by the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). The project was initiated by the German National Library and the US Library of Congress.

The aim is to link the national authority files (such as the German Name Authority File) to a single virtual authority file. In this file, identical records from the different data sets are linked together. A VIAF record receives a standard data number, contains the primary "see" and "see also" records from the original records, and refers to the original authority records. Vera Ann Farmiga (/fɑːrˈmiːɡə/; born August 6, 1973) is an American actress and producer. She began her career on the stage, making her Broadway debut in the play Taking Sides (1996). Farmiga made her television debut in the Fox fantasy adventure series Roar (1997), and her feature film debut in the drama-thriller Return to Paradise (1998).

Farmiga's breakout role came in 2004, when she was cast as a mother harboring a secret drug habit in the independent drama film Down to the Bone.
