Harsha

Harsha (c. 590–647), also known as Harshavardhana, was an Indian emperor who ruled North India from 606 to 647 from his capital Kanauj. He belonged to Pushyabhuti Dynasty. He was the son of Prabhakarvardhana who defeated the Huna invaders and the younger brother of Rajyavardhana, a king of Thanesar, Haryana. He was the founder and ruler of the Empire of Harsha and at the height of his power his empire spanned the Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Bengal, Odisha and the entire Indo-Gangetic plain north of the Narmada River. Harsha was defeated by the south Indian Emperor Pulakeshin II of the Chalukya dynasty when Harsha tried to expand his Empire into the southern peninsula of India.

Origins

After the downfall of the Gupta Empire in the middle of the 6th century, North India was split into several independent kingdoms. The northern and western regions of India passed into the hands of a dozen or more feudatory states. Prabhakara Vardhana, the ruler of Sthanvisvara, who belonged to the Pushyabhuti family, extended his control over neighbouring states. Prabhakar Vardhan was the first king of the Vardhana dynasty with his capital at Thaneswar. After Prabhakar Vardhan's death in 605, his eldest son, Rajya Vardhana, ascended the throne. Harsha Vardhana was Rajya Vardhana's younger brother. This period of kings from the same line has been referred to as the Vardhana dynasty in many publications.

Harshvardhan Rane

Harshavardhan Rane (born 16 December 1983) is an Indian film actor known for his works in Telugu cinema, and bollywood. He is best known for Thakita Thakita (2010), Prema Ishq Kaadhal (2013) and for playing the missing husband of Nayanthara's character in Anaamika (2014). He has shot for his Bollywood movie Satra Ko Shaadi Hain, which is produced by actor-turned producer John Abraham. It is scheduled to release in 2016. His Bollywood Debut will be with 'Sanam Teri Kasam' Directed by Vinay and Radhika and will be release by Eros International on 5 February 2016.

Over the years, he has acted in several Telugu films, including Telugu psychological thriller Maaya, Comedy movie "Brother of Bommali". Harshvardhan Rane follows caveman's diet. Previously he was slated to make Bollywood debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela (2013), but opted out as it wanted an eleven-month contract. In April 2015 he was roped to play as Rashi Khanna's love interest in Ravi Teja's Bengal Tiger. The official trailer of his Bollywood Debut movie Sanam Teri Kasam has been released in Youtube. Thakita Thakita

Thakita Thakita is a 2010 Telugu film directed by Sreehari Nanu, produced by Bharat Thakur. Starring Harshvardhan Rane, Haripriya in lead roles with Nagarjuna Akkineni, Anushka Shetty in cameo appearance and music by Bobo Shashi. It marks the production debut of Telugu actress Bhumika Chawla. The film was dubbed in Tamil as Thulli Ezhunthathu Kadhal. The film recorded as flop at the box-office.

Plot

Nandini, Kishore, Mahesh, Scud, Bhakti, Jessica, Chandana and Sridhar / Sri are all friends from school. They all finish their final year exams and try their level best to kick start their careers while they face some interesting situations in life. Nandini and her senior Kishore are in love. But Nandini's father hardly understands his kid's yearning for some lost prestige. Mahesh and Scud haven't been on talking terms since years. Bhakti is a happy go lucky girl, or so it seems. Jessica, a foreign student, is trying to make it big in fashion in India, living as a guest with rich Chandana. Sridhar is in love with Chandana but doesn't want to express it to her before he settles down in life. And then there is Dakshayini, who is bent on stealing Sridhar from Chandana. The film covers the coming of age of all these friends, as they try to solve a Rubik's cube called life. It also covers a lot of issues like acid attacks on girls, suicides, misunderstandings, false prestige and so on.

Sindhi language

Sindhi /ˈsɪndi/ (سنڌي, सिन्धी, ) is an Indo-Aryan language of the historical Sindh region, spoken by the Sindhi people. It is the official language of the Pakistani province of Sindh. In India, Sindhi is one of the scheduled languages officially recognized by the federal government. It has influences from Balochi spoken in the adjacent province of Balochistan.

Most Sindhi speakers are concentrated in Pakistan in the Sindh province, and in India in the Kutch region of the state of Gujarat and in Ulhasnagar region of the state of Maharashtra. The remaining speakers in India are composed of the Hindu Sindhis who migrated from Sindh, which became a part of Pakistan and settled in India after the independence of Pakistan in 1947 and the Sindhi diaspora worldwide. Sindhi language is spoken in Sindh, Pakistan and Kutch, India as well as immigrant communities in India, Hong Kong, Oman, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, UAE, UK, USA, Afghanistan, and Sri Lanka.

There are 46 million Sindhis living in Pakistan, with 44 million in Sindh, and over 2 million living in other provinces, Mostly in Balochistan. About 16% of the population of Sindhis in Pakistan are Hindus. Most of them live in urban areas like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Mirpur Khas, Dadu, Larkana and Jacobabad. Hyderabad is the largest centre of Sindhi Hindus in Pakistan with 100,000-150,000 people.

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra (born 7 July 1963) is an Indian filmmaker and screenwriter. He is best known for writing and directing Rang De Basanti (2006) and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013). He is the writer and director of the films Aks (2001) and Delhi-6 (2009).

Early life

He was born in New Delhi, in India. His father worked for the Claridges hotel in New Delhi. He was a part of the selection camp as a swimmer in the 1982 Asian Games held at New Delhi but was not selected in the final round. He studied at Air Force Bal Bharti School, Lodi Road, New Delhi.

Personal life and thoughts

In 1992, Rakeysh married P.S. Bharathi. The couple have a daughter, Bhairavi, and a son named Vedant.

Mehra criticised the vote-bank politics behind the introduction of the Mandal Commission by VP Singh, and said it inspired him to pen the script of Rang De Basanti.

Mehra has criticised India's education system as being too marks-driven, without any emphasis on actual achievement. Ridiculing the system, he said: "We'd started work on "96.7", till I realised it had become redundant, and I should work on a subject called 100%. It was about the education system. Perhaps I'll make it once I understand the whole system... perhaps my views are very lopsided right now. But the seeds have been sown,". He further added: "Imagine if Shakespeare goes to DU (Delhi University) and he's told, 'We can't take you based on stories you've written as your marksheet isn't that cool.' Or if a Leonardo, or Rabindranath Tagore goes there, and writes something called "Gitanjali" and they tell him, 'Mr Tagore, it's nice to write things such as 'Where the head is held high', but where is your marksheet?"
