NEW HOTEL DEVELOPMENT IN CHOISEUL Saint Lucia

The project aims to bring economic development and activity to Choiseul. The sod turning ceremony for the Domaine Resort Development Project in Choiseul, was held on Aug. 25. The US$6 million tourism project will boast 20 villas falling under the conceptual resort category of chic boutique hotel. Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Tourism, Information and Broadcasting, Hon. Dominic Fedee, commented on the popularity of the resort type and the way in which it would help attract tourists to the south of the island. “This really is part of a series of developments, and a way of taking things to the south, and since the establishment of our international airport we are starting to see the true potential of the south of the island begin to materialize. We begin to see that real potential in its true form. I can't wait to see this development completed along with the others that are coming on stream that will compliment it very nicely, and finally the people of the south will have there own opportunity to have their claim of a stake in the tourism pie." The Hon. Bradley Felix, Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister with responsibility for Commerce, Industry, Investment, Enterprise Development and Consumer Affairs added that the location was ideal for the development. "Undoubtedly we are on a beautiful piece of property. On a clear day you look across and see Saint Vincent at night. You have the Pitons in the background. I have seen the plans and I am very impressed because you are keeping it very local and in our conversation you did indicate that you wanted to remain local in every way. You would like your guests, your owners, to be very much a part of the local history. We talked about story telling, we talked about visiting the handicraft centres, the local bakeries, the local arts and crafts, and so we can see the mixing of people and your guests and that is very important for us.” The project aims to bring economic development and activity to Choiseul.
