Who is VTIC?
Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC) is the peak body for Victoria’s tourism and events industry.

How did VTIC form?
In the 1990s, there was an abundance of tourism industry organisations, including:
- the Backpacker Operators Alliance of Victoria (BOAV),
- Country Victoria Tourism Council (CVTC),
- Victorian Tourism Operators Assocation (VTOA),
- Cultural Tourism Industry Group (CTIG),
- Australian Hotels Association (AHA),
- the Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association (HMAA),
- Accommodation Getaways Victoria,
- Victoria Tourism Industry Council (VTIC), and
- the Regional Victorian Conference Group (RVCG).
Between 2002 and 2011, BOAV, CVTC, VTOA, RVCG and VTIC merged to form a new organisation with a fresh start.
Other organisations have undergone changes and continue to play important roles for industry, including the Cultural Tourism Industry Group (CTIG) – which became Cultural Tourism Victoria; the Australian Hotels Association (AHA); and the Hotel, Motel and Accommodation Association (HMAA) – which become the Accommodation Association of Australia (AAoA).
In 2012, with the power of a formal partnership with VECCI in place, the Victoria Tourism Industry Council was formed to represent the entire tourism and events industry with one unified voice.
Our partnership with Business Events Victoria
Two valuable VTIC team members manage our partnership with Business Events Victoria (BEV), which includes delivery of the state-government funded Regional Victoria Business Events Program.
The BEV team seek to grow regional Victoria’s share of the MICE market and works collaboratively to demonstrate the quality and diversity of venues, services and settings in regional Victoria.

Tourism and events are growth industries for Victoria and contribute $20 billion to the state economy each year and employ more than 206,000 people.
