Tom Stade

Tom Stade is a Canadian comedian who currently lives in Edinburgh, Scotland with his wife Trudy and their two children. He has a distinctive "drunken Canadian" accent and is known for his appearances at the Edinburgh Festival, as well as appearing on British TV shows such as Live at the Apollo, The Comedy Store, The Live Floor Show, Stand Up for the Week, and The World Stands Up. Other appearances include: Mock the Week, the Birmingham leg of Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Dave's One Night Stand, Lee Mack's All Star Cast, and Frankie Boyle's Tramadol Nights (for which he also wrote). In March 2011 and December 2012, he appeared as a guest star on Soccer AM.

Stade appeared on Frankie Boyle's stand-up show The Boyle Variety Performance in August 2012, and recorded a live DVD at the Bloomsbury Theatre, London (released in autumn 2013). His 2013 UK tour show is called Totally Rocks.

The Axis of Awesome

The Axis of Awesome is an Australian musical comedy act with members Jordan Raskopoulos, Lee Naimo and Benny Davis. The trio cover a wide variety of performance styles, and perform a combination of original material and pop parodies.

History

The Axis of Awesome formed in 2006, their name being a play on the phrase "axis of evil" used by United States President George W. Bush. The trio were heavily involved in improv theatre at the University of Sydney and decided to try something different. The band played at a few stand up comedy nights and improv events in Sydney and performed a fortnightly segment on FBi Radio, but got their first big break when they released a number of rap parodies lampooning the 2007 Australian Federal Election.

The band gained further success performing in the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and making television and radio appearances. Their 2008 Melbourne International Comedy Festival show, titled "The Axis of Awesome Comeback Spectacular", received a Moosehead Award. They took the show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2008 where it was received with critical and audience acclaim.

Jo Koy

Jo Koy (born Joseph Glenn Herbert; June 2, 1971) is an American stand-up comic. He is currently touring the college circuit as a featured comedian and performs in clubs across the country. He is often a panelist on E!'s late night show Chelsea Lately. Jo has gained a large following of fans lately from his semi-regular appearances on The Adam Carolla Show, where he does numerous impressions from P.F. Chang's greeter to angry black cabbie. Announced on The Woody Show that he drives a Tesla named Poppycock.

Early life

Jo Koy is of Filipino and European-American descent. Jo Koy's European-American father was in the Air Force when he married Jo Koy's Filipino mother. Jo Koy's Filipino-American family moved from Spanaway, Washington to Tacoma, Washington and then to Las Vegas soon after he finished high school in Tacoma, Washington. He attended Spanaway Lake High School originally and then moved to Foss High School in Tacoma. He moved to Las Vegas to be near his ailing grandmother. Jo Koy enrolled in University of Nevada, Las Vegas, but dropped out to do stand-up comedy.

The Comedy Store

The Comedy Store is a comedy club located in West Hollywood, California, at 8433 Sunset Boulevard on the Sunset Strip. It has a sister comedy club in La Jolla, San Diego, California.

History

The Comedy Store was opened in April 1972 by comedians Sammy Shore and Rudy DeLuca. The building was formerly the home of Ciro's, a popular Hollywood nightclub owned by William Wilkerson, and later a rock and roll venue, where The Byrds were discovered in 1964.

When the venue reopened as The Comedy Store in 1972, it included a 99-seat theatre, where Johnny Carson was one of the first comics to perform. As a result of a divorce settlement, Sammy Shore's ex-wife Mitzi Shore began operating the club in 1973, and she was able to buy the building in 1976. She immediately renovated and expanded the club to include a 450-seat main room.

In 1974, The Comedy Store hosted the wedding reception of newlyweds Liza Minnelli (daughter of Judy Garland) and Jack Haley, Jr., (son of Jack Haley who played "the Tin Man" in the 1939 movie, "The Wizard of Oz" which starred Liza's mother). The Comedy Club signage was covered, for the evening, by signs reading "Ciro's", denoting the venue's prior identity. The event was attended by many dozens of Hollywood glitterati, including Elizabeth Taylor, Johnny Carson, Ceasar Romaro and other stars, past and present. The soiree was so grand that Sunset Boulevard was temporarily blocked by police to allow Hollywood royalty to arrive in their limos unmolested by photographers and reporters.
