Quebec (/kᵻˈbɛk/; French: Québec [kebɛk]), also Québec, City of Québec,Quebec City, or Québec City (French: Ville de Québec), is the capital of the province of Quebec in Canada. In 2011 the city had a population of 516,622, and the metropolitan area had a population of 799,600 in 2014, making it the second most populous city in Quebec after Montreal, which is about 233 km (145 mi) to the southwest.
The narrowing of the Saint Lawrence River proximate to the city's promontory, Cap-Diamant (Cape Diamond), and Lévis, on the opposite bank, provided the name given to the city, Kébec, an Algonquin word meaning "where the river narrows". Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec City is one of the oldest cities in North America. The ramparts surrounding Old Quebec (Vieux-Québec) are the only fortified city walls remaining in the Americas north of Mexico, and were declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1985 as the 'Historic District of Old Québec'.
According to the federal and provincial governments, Québec is the city's official name in both French and English, although Quebec City (or its French equivalent, Ville de Québec) is commonly used, particularly to distinguish the city from the province. In French, the names of the province and the city are distinguished grammatically in that the province takes the definite article (le Québec, du Québec, au Québec) and the city does not (Québec, de Québec, à Québec).
Quebec (i/kwᵻˈbɛk/ or /kəˈbɛk/; French: Québec [kebɛk]) is the second-most populous province in Canada. It is the only Canadian province that has a predominantly French-speaking population, and the only one to have French as its sole provincial official language.
Quebec is Canada's largest province by area and its second-largest administrative division; only the territory of Nunavut is larger. It is bordered to the west by the province of Ontario, James Bay, and Hudson Bay; to the north by Hudson Strait and Ungava Bay; to the east by the Gulf of Saint Lawrence and the province of Newfoundland and Labrador; it is bordered on the south by the province of New Brunswick and the U.S. states of Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, and New York. It also shares maritime borders with Nunavut, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia.
Quebec is Canada's second most populous province, after Ontario. Most inhabitants live in urban areas near the Saint Lawrence River between Montreal and Quebec City, the capital. Approximately half of Quebec residents live in the Greater Montreal Area, including the Island of Montreal. English-speaking communities and English-language institutions are concentrated in the west of the island of Montreal but are also significantly present in the Outaouais, Eastern Townships, and Gaspé regions. The Nord-du-Québec region, occupying the northern half of the province, is sparsely populated and inhabited primarily by Aboriginal peoples. The climate around the major cities is four-season continental with cold and snowy winters combined with warm to hot humid summers, but further north long winter seasons dominate and as a result the northern areas of the province are marked by tundra conditions. Even in central Quebec at comparatively southerly latitudes winters are very severe in inland areas.
"You Will" was an AT&T marketing campaign from the early 1990s directed by David Fincher. Each ad presented a futuristic scenario beginning with "Have you ever…" and ending with "…you will. And the company that will bring it to you: AT&T."
The ads were narrated by Tom Selleck; one sequence of a mother smiling at her baby through a video call featured future star Jenna Elfman.
The proposed innovations included:
Love and Hate may refer to:
A city is a large and permanent human settlement. Although there is no agreement on how a city is distinguished from a town in general English language meanings, many cities have a particular administrative, legal, or historical status based on local law.
Cities generally have complex systems for sanitation, utilities, land usage, housing, and transportation. The concentration of development greatly facilitates interaction between people and businesses, benefiting both parties in the process, but it also presents challenges to managing urban growth.
A big city or metropolis usually has associated suburbs and exurbs. Such cities are usually associated with metropolitan areas and urban areas, creating numerous business commuters traveling to urban centers for employment. Once a city expands far enough to reach another city, this region can be deemed a conurbation or megalopolis. In terms of population, the largest city proper is Shanghai, while the fastest-growing is Dubai.
There is not enough evidence to assert what conditions gave rise to the first cities. Some theorists have speculated on what they consider suitable pre-conditions and basic mechanisms that might have been important driving forces.

/ About the Project In 1953, Alfred Hitchcock and his Hollywood crew flew to a small French Canadian town called Quebec. There, they filmed one of the “Master of Suspense” most underrated movies: “I, Confess”. Hitchcock said he chose Quebec City mostly for convenient reasons. It was a perfect substitute for his beloved Paris with its Gothic churches and Old World charm. The French Canadian city was a cinematic natural. Founded in 1608 by Samuel de Champlain, Quebec is one of the oldest cities in North America and definitely has a European feel to it. More than 30 years after the filming of “I, Confess”, I developed a fascination for Alfred Hitchcock’s suspenseful and masterful movies. I was thrilled and surprised to find out that he shot one of them in my hometown, for the most part no...

Earlier this year, I went to Quebec to help Hayden Wrench shoot for Louif's ESPN Real Snow video for the X Games. There was a bunch of stuff I shot(I'm the B angle guy) that never got used and a bunch of angles that didn't make the cut. There's a bunch of shots of Frank April, Phil Jacques, and Chris Grenier in there that you won't see anywhere else. Check them out right here. This is straight from my trip timeline. Unedited since when I was on the trip back in December of 2010. This was one of the coolest rail trips I'd say I've ever been on and it was an honor to be a part of Louif's X-Games video. Without a doubt some of the hardest work and best snowboarding I've ever seen in person. This timeline is for www.changethattape.com Java
Under the banner of Les Rendez-Vous Loto-Québec, Loto-Québec supports or sponsors some 120 festivals and events in Quebec each year. This project aimed to distinguish this events series from the rest of the Loto-Québec brand, and to raise awareness of Loto-Québec's role in supporting cultural events in the province. To this end, the character of Alice was conceived. A loose nod to Alice in Wonderland, the campaign follows Alice as she wanders into and out of scenes from different festivals featured in the Rendez-Vous Loto-Québec series. The campaign's boxy, origami-inspired look plays to the notion of the new worlds unfolding for Alice as she discovers each event. A full soundtrack was initially intended for the the video, but it was ultimately omitted, with music reserved only for the...

/ About the Project As of today, it is estimated that there are more than 7 billion humans living on Earth. Humans have only been a glimpse in the Earth’s timeline, yet in the last 200 years the evolution of mankind has skyrocketed as well as the need for Earth’s resources. Skyscrapers are growing taller than the next, like huge trees battling for sunlight. At night, from a higher point of view, traffic evokes lava flowing down a volcano. Like a giant ant colony, humans have made this planet their own. But what about the Earth? Can we continue to take without consequences? The City Limits tries to show that even though we are the dominant species on the planet, there is something bigger than us. Travel video about destination Ville de Québec in Canada. On behalf of the French crown, in 1608, Samuel de Champlain established a fur trading post from which originated Québec, a city that today looms over the Saint Lawrence River like a majestic fortress. It is the birthplace of French culture in North America. With its small towers and green glimmering roofs, the Chateau Frontenac majestically watches over the city. The castle like hotel was built and lavishly furnished in 1894 by the Canadian Pacific Railway and in 1943, was the rendezvous for the allies who met to prepare for the Normandy Landings. Québec's upper city is encircled by a four kilometre long fortified wall that was alternately built upon by the French and the English. In former times, various gates barred entry to the...

Having now visited Quebec City in both the summer and winter I'm officially naming it our favorite city in Canada. I've never visited a city where I felt such a radical difference between seasons. Click play on our travel guide to get an insider’s peek at this Canadian destination. You don’t need to go all the way to France to say “Bonjour” and nibble on croissants. While you’re in town, mosey around the cafes and shops in North America’s oldest retail district, and visit the Musee de la Civilisation. Embark on Quebec City tours around the colonial buildings in Dufferin Terrace, the history at Battlefields Park, and the stunning beauty of Montmorency Falls. In this travel video guide to Quebec City, I travel around Quebec City including its historic Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), stop in at the famed Ice Hotel where visitors spend the night on ice beds, and explore the Winter Carnival, the biggest winter carnival in the world that attracts over 600,000 people a year. I finish up the Winter Carnival by watching a night parade and partying it up at a nighttime outdoor snow rave. * The host, Matt Stabile, of this video is the founder and editor-in-chief of the travel site http://www.TheExpeditioner.com. He also served as Director, Editor and Foley Artist for this production.

This happened during Quebec's national holiday, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste, in Montréal. The official facebook account of the celebration later published a statement saying : " We simply want to clarify this situation : know that all cars are pushed by the sport team of Louis-Joseph Papineau de Montréal."

They say you should observe a piece of art deeply to understand its concept and interpret it in your own way, we think that Jean-Paul Frenay took this idea and twisted it into something even bigger than just an interpretation. He made sure to create an introspective “sarcastic” adventure. We were so astonished when we received this and proud to present to you a visual piece communicating social behaviors in different sceneries that will put you into a hypnotic experience.

In Carl Sagan’s own words “Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dar...
On a free ride home from the embassy
I saw the governor and his lover holding hands
When I got to my place, I emptied my suitcase
And opened the windows wide
If you could save yourself, you'd save us all
Is that what you called me for
Is that why you're knocking on my door?
The time I've spent working myself to death
Thought that's what you wanted, I thought you needed my help
To make it good again, to make us strong
To make you happy, to push you along
And gain some respect, to be thrown a crumb
I was on my knees when you knocked me down
The wheels fell off, the bottom dropped out
The checks all bounced, I came in your mouth
Your mother came calling but there was no one around
The trash caught fire when the leaves turned brown
The vultures were circling when the circus left town
I left you a note but I wrote it in disappearing ink
If you could save yourself, you'd save us all
Is that what you called me for
Is that why you're knocking on my door?
The time I've spent working myself to death
Thought that's what you wanted, I thought you needed my help
To make it good again, to make us strong
To make you happy, to push you along
And gain some respect, to be thrown a crumb
