Melanie Jayne Chisholm (born 12 January 1974), better known as Melanie C or Mel C, is an English singer-songwriter and actress. She is one of the five members of the Spice Girls, in which she was nicknamed Sporty Spice. With the Spice Girls, she toured the world and sold over 100 million records worldwide.
As a solo artist, Chisholm has sold more than 12 million records. Her first solo attempt was collaborating with Bryan Adams on a hit "When You're Gone". She then released her debut solo studio album, Northern Star in 1999, which sold four million copies. Chisholm has released another five albums and has been nominated for BRIT and ECHO awards. She currently is the female artist with the second most number-one singles in the United Kingdom and also the only female to reach the number one spot as part of a quintet, a quartet, a duo and solo. In 2012, Chisholm earned her 12th UK number 1 as part of The Justice Collective with the Christmas number 1 single "He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother".
Melanie is a feminine given name derived from the Greek μελανία (melania), "blackness" and that from μέλας (melas), meaning "dark". Borne in its Latin form by two saints: Melania the Elder and her granddaughter Melania the Younger, the name was introduced to England by the Normans in its French form Melanie. However the name only became common in English usage in the 1930s due to the popularity of Margaret Mitchell's 1936 novel Gone with the Wind and its 1939 film adaptation, as one of the novel's main characters was named Melanie Hamilton. The name's popularity increased until the 1970s since remaining constant. Melanie was the 80th most popular name for girls born in the United States in 2007 and, as Mélanie, it was the 86th most popular name for girls born in France in 2004.
"Time" is the fourth track from the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon, and the only song on the album credited to all four members of the band, though the lyrics were written by Roger Waters. It is the final Pink Floyd song credited to all four members and the last to feature Richard Wright on lead vocals until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell. This song is about how time can slip by, but many people do not realise it until it is too late. Roger Waters got the idea when he realised he was no longer preparing for anything in life, but was right in the middle of it. He has described this realisation taking place at ages 28 and 29 in various interviews. It is noted for its long introductory passage of clocks chiming and alarms ringing, recorded as a quadrophonic test by Alan Parsons, not specifically for the album.
Time is in the key of F# minor. Each clock at the beginning of the song was recorded separately in an antiques store. This is followed by a two-minute passage dominated by Nick Mason's drum solo, with rototoms and backgrounded by a tick-tock sound created by Roger Waters picking two muted strings on his bass. With David Gilmour singing lead on the verses and with Richard Wright singing lead on the bridges and with female singers and Gilmour providing backup vocals, the song's lyrics deal with Roger Waters' realization that life was not about preparing yourself for what happens next, but about grabbing control of your own destiny.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Most notable songs are: Feel The Sun, If That Were Me, I Turn To You, Closer, Be The One & Northern Star. I would give this album a 9.8/10. Enjoy this beautiful piece of music. No copyright infringement intended. Fair Use. Northern Star is the first solo album released by Spice Girl Melanie C. It was released on 18 October 1999. The album's sound is diverse, combining elements of rock music with pop and ambient electronic, along with some R&B;, doo-wop, and new age; which contrasted with the pop sound of the Spice Girls. It was reasonably well received by critics and was a commercial success, selling over 900,520 copies in the United Kingdom, and close to 4 million copies worldwide, becoming the biggest-selling solo Spice Girl album so far.
