Seagull by Pam Ayres
'Seagull' is featured in the brand new collection, You Made Me Late Again by Pam Ayres.
With over fifty new poems from Britain's favourite poet, You Made Me Late Again! is an essential addition to Pam Ayres' incomparable collection of works.
Pam's poems are observant, witty and poignant in equal measure. In 'The Swifts' and 'The Pyracantha Anthem' she marvels at nature, while 'A Patient's Prayer' and 'Litter Moron' offer wry views on Modern Britain. From the dog being afraid of the toaster to your son leaving home for university; and from the search for that perfect swimsuit to becoming a gran for the first time - Pam's poems are beautifully crafted, and her subjects the everyday and the universal.

Some poems are funny, some desperately sad. There are story poems and pondering poems: how great would Satnav trousers be!? Some, like 'Cosmo Caff', beg to be read aloud.
Sometimes the juxtaposition of poems will floor you: read 'Where Do We Come From' and 'Fly Racing' and find the history of a family.
But in Rosen's hands, small, scruffy words you don't even notice gain extra wei...

SEAGULL poem by: AI
In hues of gold, as daylight waned,
Above Saginaw Bay, a drone took reign.
Its propellers whirred, its wings did soar,
Exploring the sky's vast, infinite floor.
A curious Seagull, with feathers bright,
Gazed at the Avata, a captivating sight.
Its lens, like an eye, scanned the world below,
Unveiling secrets that only it could show.
The Seagull swooped, with graceful glide,
Inquisitive spirit, it could not hide.
Wings brushed the breeze, curiosity stirred,
Drawn to the drone, like a spoken word.
With precision, the Avata sailed on the breeze,
Leaving trails of wonder, as it did please.
A dance between beings, in twilight's embrace,
Aerial waltz, an interplay of grace.
In this fleeting moment, a story was born,
A Seagull's quest, an Avata's airborne.
As sunset painted the canvas of the b...

From Big Book of Bad Things

Booktrust Review
Some poems are funny, some desperately sad. There are story poems and pondering poems: how great would Satnav trousers be!? Some, like 'Cosmo Caff', beg to be read aloud.
Sometimes the juxtaposition of poems will floor you: read 'Where Do We Come From' and 'Fly Racing' and find the history of a family.
But in Rosen's hands, small, scruffy words you don't even notice gain extra weight and meaning, and his poems give form and sensitively and exuberantly validate the everyday acts of simply wondering, idly thinking, and using language to do so.

Who is Michael Rosen?
My first book for children was called Mind Your Own Business and it came out in 1974. Quentin Blake did wonderful line drawings for it.
Ever since then, I’ve been doing these things:
Writing books
Writing articles for newspapers and magazines
Going to schools, libraries and theatres and performing the poems in my books
Helping children write poems and stories
Making radio programmes, mostly about words, language or books
Appearing on TV, either reading books, or talking about books
Teaching at universities about children’s literature
Running workshops for teachers about poetry
In any week, I might be doing all of these things!
To tell the truth, I don’t really know what I’m doing tomorrow, unless I look in my diary to see. Who is Michael Rosen?

SEAGULL poem by: AI
In hues of gold, as daylight waned,
Above Saginaw Bay, a drone took reign.
Its propellers whirred, its wings did soar,
Exploring the sky's vast, infinite floor....
In hues of gold, as daylight waned,
Above Saginaw Bay, a drone took reign.
Its propellers whirred, its wings did soar,
Exploring the sky's vast, infinite floor.
A curious Seagull, with feathers bright,
Gazed at the Avata, a captivating sight.
Its lens, like an eye, scanned the world below,
Unveiling secrets that only it could show.
The Seagull swooped, with graceful glide,
Inquisitive spirit, it could not hide.
Wings brushed the breeze, curiosity stirred,
Drawn to the drone, like a spoken word.
With precision, the Avata sailed on the breeze,
Leaving trails of wonder, as it did please.
A dance between beings, in twilight's embrace,
Aerial waltz, an interplay of grace.
In this fleeting moment, a story was born,
A Seagull's quest, an Avata's airborne.
As sunset painted the canvas of the bay,
Their encounter became poetry at play., author: AI
