Melkweg

The Melkweg (English translation: "Milky Way") is a popular music venue and cultural center in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It is located on the Lijnbaansgracht, near the Leidseplein, a prime nightlife center of Amsterdam. It is housed in a former dairy and is divided into a number of spaces of varying sizes. Besides a large hall for varying genres of music concerts, there are also spaces for dance/theater, cinema, photography and media-art. The Melkweg is run by a non-profit organisation that has existed since 1970.

Summary

It is referenced in the Cracker song "Euro-Trash Girl", the Lagwagon song "Infectious" and in title of the Half Man Half Biscuit song "Prag Vec at the Melkweg". The title of The Church's song "Under the Milky Way" is also a reference to the Melkweg. Heather Nova's 1995 EP "Live from the Milky Way" was recorded here as was Spacemen 3's album Performance. Frank Black And The Catholics recorded there live on March 24, 2001 on "Live From Melkweg".

Amsterdam

Amsterdam (English /ˈæmstərdæm/ or /ˌæmstərˈdæm/;Dutch: [ɑmstərˈdɑm]) is the capital city and most populous city of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Its status as the Dutch capital is mandated by the Constitution of the Netherlands though it is not the seat of the Dutch government, which is The Hague. Amsterdam's name derives from Amstelredamme, indicative of the city's origin as a dam of the river Amstel. Originating as a small fishing village in the late 12th century, Amsterdam became one of the most important ports in the world during the Dutch Golden Age (17th century), a result of its innovative developments in trade. During that time, the city was the leading center for finance and diamonds. In the 19th and 20th centuries the city expanded, and many new neighbourhoods and suburbs were planned and built. The 17th-century canals of Amsterdam and the 19–20th century Defence Line of Amsterdam are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Wolf Alice

Wolf Alice are a four-piece alternative rock band from North London, formed initially as a two-person band in 2010. Its members since 2012 are Ellie Rowsell (vocals, guitar), Joff Oddie (guitars, vocals), Theo Ellis (bass), and Joel Amey (drums, vocals).

They released their official debut single "Fluffy" in February 2013, and the single "Bros" followed in May of that year. In October 2013 they released their official debut EP Blush. Their second official EP Creature Songs was released in May 2014. In February 2015 they released the lead single "Giant Peach" from their debut album My Love Is Cool, which was released in the UK and U.S. in June 2015.

The single "Moaning Lisa Smile" from the band's 2014 EP Creature Songs peaked at #9 on Billboard Alternative Songs in August 2015, and has been nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance for the 2016 Grammys.

HARD with STYLE is a Dutch hardstyle record label founded in 2011 by Headhunterz. HARD with STYLE has a few of artists like Mekanikal, Rebourne, Audiofreq and Crystal Lake. At the beginning, Headhunterz made pocasts under this name HARD with STYLE. It quickly became the one of the most popular electronic music podcasts. Until October 2013 Headhunterz released his first release, The Leaked EP via HARD with STYLE. Now, they make podcasts with other hardstyle artists and make songs under 'HARD with STYLE Origins' via this record label.
