Image scaling
In computer graphics, image scaling is the process of resizing a digital image. Scaling is a non-trivial process that involves a trade-off between efficiency, smoothness and sharpness. With bitmap graphics, as the size of an image is reduced or enlarged, the pixels that form the image become increasingly visible, making the image appear "soft" if pixels are averaged, or jagged if not. With vector graphics the trade-off may be in processing power for re-rendering the image, which may be noticeable as slow re-rendering with still graphics, or slower frame rate and frame skipping in computer animation.
Apart from fitting a smaller display area, image size is most commonly decreased (or subsampled or downsampled) in order to produce thumbnails. Enlarging an image (upsampling or interpolating) is generally common for making smaller imagery fit a bigger screen. In “zooming” a bitmap image, it is not possible to discover any more information in the image than already exists, and image quality inevitably suffers. However, there are several methods of increasing the number of pixels that an image contains, which evens out the appearance of the original pixels.

PRS Guitars
PRS Guitars (also known as Paul Reed Smith Guitars) is an American guitar manufacturer headquartered in Stevensville, Maryland, founded by guitarist and master luthier Paul Reed Smith in 1985.
PRS has a reputation as a manufacturer of high end electric guitars made in the US, and known for their custom shop instruments. However since the 1990s they have expanded production to Asia, where they manufacture the more affordable 'SE' line of instruments. As of 2013 they have begun making more affordable guitars in the US with their 'S2' line. PRS Guitars also manufactures guitar amplifiers. Two of PRS's most notable endorsers are Carlos Santana and Gustavo Cerati. In addition to this, many other artists endorse the company, including Mike Oldfield, who has used a PRS Artist Custom 24 for studio recordings and live shows since the late 1980s; Clint Lowery; Mikael Åkerfeldt; Dave Navarro; Ted Nugent; Al Di Meola; Mark Tremonti and Orianthi.

In this great new clip he explains the two revolutionary materials now featured in his boards.
The first is the new revolutionary material is PRECISION RECOIL STRINGER. Also known as PRS, the breakthrough in this type of carbon fibre stringer is that it is tapered, which means the stringer has a thicker, wider diameter in the tail to keep it stiff, and becomes narrower and more flexible as it gets closer to the nose of the board. This stringer works with the core adding spring like recoil in the nose while maintaining stiffness in the tail, the perfect combination for board projection.
The second is SKINTEC, the most advanced compression cell technology ever developed for professional bodyboarding. The multi-layered polymer composition allows for the skin to absorb pressure and impact compressions, creating increased strength and recoil making for a more responsive performance board.

In this great new clip he explains the two revolutionary materials now featured in his boards.
The first is the new revolutionary material is PRECISION RECOIL STRINGER. Also known as PRS, the breakthrough in this type of carbon fibre stringer is that it is tapered, which means the stringer has a thicker, wider diameter in the tail to keep it stiff, and becomes narrower and more flexible as it gets closer to the nose of the board. This stringer works with the core adding spring like recoil in the nose while maintaining stiffness in the tail, the perfect combination for board projection.
The second is SKINTEC, the most advanced compression cell technology ever developed for professional bodyboarding. The multi-layered polymer composition allows for the skin to absorb pressure and impact compressions, creating increased strength and recoil making for a more responsive performance board.
