This 8yo Comtois horse was originally in France, destined for the meat market. Her new owners brought her to England and decided to have her broken to harness. Here we show her working happily in harness alongside lorries, and also being driven in company with a Thoroughbred we had in for breaking. She is shown at the end being driven by her owners.
Many horses are slaughtered for meat in countries such as France, just as horses are also sent to the slaughterhouse here in the UK when their careers are over. This mare had bred foals in France but none survived, so she was no longer any good for breeding. Unlike many other horses who then get sold for meat, she was brought over to the UK and retrained to drive. Just because a horse can no longer breed, or race, or be ridden, does not always mean it is the end of its usefulness. Retraining for another career can give a horse a new lease of life!

This 7yo Friesian was imported already "broken" from Holland and had 2 years driving experience as a single and a pair. His owner wanted to do commercial work with him and purchased him as being suitable for commercial work, however as this film shows, in our opinion he was not suitable as he was not safe on the roads.
It was expected that this Friesian would be imported from Holland, and be put alongside the owner's other horse so that they could begin doing commercial work as a pair, however he was not up to standard and needed further training before this occurred.
There are many pitfalls in buying horses, especially purchasing horses untried from abroad. In these cases it can be difficult (and expensive) to send the horse back. We hear from many people who have bought horses from abroad and experienced difficulties when they attempt to drive them, because they do not behave as expected. There are different standards of breaking horses to drive all over the world and even in this country standards vary from one trainer to another - what one person considers to be "good to drive" may be entirely different to another person's viewpoint. We are not saying that every friesian purchased from Holland is bad in traffic, however we have had many horses sent to us with issues that have been imported and needed further training.
At the end of the film we compare this horse to a pair of 3yr old Friesian stallions that we broke, during their 2nd ever week in harness, and also with a 4yr old gelding that we broke during his first ever week in harness, showing how they react to the same type of traffic.
This is why we believe that the current system of insuring horses for commercial work is flawed. Technically, this horse could be insured for doing horse-drawn weddings and funerals because he is over 4yrs old and has had over 6 months driving experience. However he is not good in traffic and could be dangerous when driven in a busy environment. Compare this with the young, newly-broken horses, who are calm and confident when faced with the same traffic, and who could not be insured for commercial work yet because of their age. The old saying "quality not quantity" applies here - it is not how long they have been driving for, it is how well that driving has been done that is key. This is why we believe that proper initial training is so important. More films showing this horse's progress with us will be coming soon.

Comtois horse
The Comtois horse is a draft horse that originated in the Jura Mountains on the border between France and Switzerland.
Characteristics
The Comtois is a light draft horse, with a large head, straight neck, stocky and powerful body and deep girth. They have long, straight backs and short, strong legs with a little feathering and muscular hindquarters. The Comtois sometimes shows a tendency towards sickle hocks. These horses are generally bay silver, but they can also be black silver, bay, black, and chestnut. They usually stand 1.50–1.65 metres (14.3–16.1 hands) high and weigh 650–800 kg (1,430–1,760 lb).
History
The Comtois horse breed is an old breed of horse that is believed to have descended from horses brought by the Burgundians of northern Germany to France during the fourth century. It is believed that they have been bred in Franche-Comté and in the Jura Mountains since the sixth century. In the Middle Ages they were used as war horses. They were bred in Franche-Comté and in the Jura Mountains During the 16th century, the Comtois breed was used to improve the Burgandy Horse. In the 19th century, other draft horses such as the Norman, Boulonnais, and Percheron were bred into the Comtois, and more recently the Ardennes was used to produce a stronger horse with better legs. Today, they are second only to the Belgian draft horse in number in France.

The Scots-English language name Bruce arrived in Scotland with the Normans, from the place name Brix of the Manche département in Normandy, France, meaning "the willowlands". Alexis DeJoria
Alexis DeJoria (born September 24, 1977) is an American drag racer competing in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA). She is a member of Kalitta Motorsports and sponsored by Patrón Spirits Company. She drives a Toyota Camry funny car.
Career
Alexis began her NHRA career in 2005, initially competing in the Super Gas category before moving into a rear engine Super Comp dragster. Eight months after her NHRA debut, she went on to win the Sportsman Nationals in Fontana, California.
DeJoria spent the next two years racing along the West coast in to a Top Alcohol Funny Car (TAFC).
In 2009, Alexis built her own racing team, Stealth Motorsports. At the 2011 NHRA Northwest Fall Nationals, she won her first ever NHRA national event win in TAFC, becoming the second woman ever to do so. She co-owned and operated the team for three years, leaving in 2011 to join Kalitta Motorsports as their fourth member and second Funny Car driver. This move coincided with her transition to racing a nitro powered Funny Car at the 2011 Texas Fall Nationals.

This 7yo Friesian was imported already "broken" from Holland and had 2 years driving experience as a single and a pair. His owner wanted to do commercial work with him and purchased him as being suitable for commercial work, however as this film shows, in our opinion he was not suitable as he was not safe on the roads.
It was expected that this Friesian would be imported from Holland, and be put alongside the owner's other horse so that they could begin doing commercial work as a pair, however he was not up to standard and needed further training before this occurred.
There are many pitfalls in buying horses, especially purchasing horses untried from abroad. In these cases it can be difficult (and expensive) to send the horse back. We hear from many people who have bought horses from abroad and experienced difficulties when they attempt to drive them, because they do not behave as expected. There are different standards of breaking horses to drive all over the world and even in this country standards vary from one trainer to another - what one person considers to be "good to drive" may be entirely different to another person's viewpoint. We are not saying that every friesian purchased from Holland is bad in traffic, however we have had many horses sent to us with issues that have been imported and needed further training.
At the end of the film we compare this horse to a pair of 3yr old Friesian stallions that we broke, during their 2nd ever week in harness, and also with a 4yr old gelding that we broke during his first ever week in harness, showing how they react to the same type of traffic.
This is why we believe that the current system of insuring horses for commercial work is flawed. Technically, this horse could be insured for doing horse-drawn weddings and funerals because he is over 4yrs old and has had over 6 months driving experience. However he is not good in traffic and could be dangerous when driven in a busy environment. Compare this with the young, newly-broken horses, who are calm and confident when faced with the same traffic, and who could not be insured for commercial work yet because of their age. The old saying "quality not quantity" applies here - it is not how long they have been driving for, it is how well that driving has been done that is key. Comtois mare rescued from meat market in France - now broken to drive (Sibelle).

Her new owners brought her to England and decided to have her broken to harness. Here we show her working happily in harness alongside lorries, and also being driven in company with a Thoroughbred we had in for breaking. She is shown at the end being driven by her owners. Many horses are slaughtered for meat in countries such as France, just as horses are also sent to the slaughterhouse here in the UK when their careers are over. This is a personal story. About the loss of my first husband through divorce after my second NDE while living in Washington DC 33 years ago. How PMH Atwater's book Back to Life saved me, by making me understand what happened. How I was saved by an angel when I had nearly lost my mind because I had become so open and vulnerable. About the beautiful message of the angel. How the NDE of my mother at 82 saved me when I lost the will to live because I felt alone and misunderstood. How it changed our relationship completely. How she appeared to me after her death and her messages. How Kenneth Ring helped me by explaining and knowing everything about kundalini-experiences, when I had no clue what happened to me. About the loss of my second husband, a great love, who was a sceptic professor of Ophthalmology when I met him but turned into a firm believer. He is often with me since he died a year and a half ago. It's about loss and hope, grief and joy. Does an NDE help to overcome grief? Yes, greatly, but we still have to go through the (e)motions.

Many people who lose loved ones get stuck in a cycle of grief that can last for the rest of their lives. But this need not be the case. Through the process of awakening to our true identity, we can stay connected with our ”lost” loved ones moment by moment. For they are not the ones that are truly lost. They are actually found. It is we, living in this illusory3-D reality, who actually are the lost ones - for we have forgotten who we are. One does not have to have a near death experience to beginning this Self-remembering process. But by listening to and learning from near death experiencers, this journey back to Self is made more accessible. Ultimately, if pursued with consistency and sincerity this journey will lead to healing, hope and reunion with our beloveds.

My presentation focuses on after-life spiritual communications, grief counseling, and the healing power of eternal love. My knowledge about life, loss and love everlasting often manifest into personal messages intended for individuals who have come to experience healing words. Others are prerecorded on the signature Purple Papers I carry with me to events, chronicling stories and shared moments that time has not diminished. Each is powerful and poignant testimony to the healing that occurs when conversations about loved ones continue even after they are gone. My talks offer invaluable guidance and teaching moments on how to process and move through grief. I share my own personal stories of losing friends and family members, advising audiences how to deal with the loss of a loved one before, during and after their passing. I am an ardent spokesman on the existence of heaven, having seen it through my own eyes and soul when I was granted access to the heavenly kingdom some 20 years ago, and experiencing it every day through messages and spiritual encounters I enjoy from departed souls who share their awe with me.
