Sacramento, California
Sacramento (/ˌsækrəˈmɛntoʊ/; Spanish: [sakɾaˈmento]) is the capital city of the U.S. state of California and the seat of government of Sacramento County. It is at the confluence of the Sacramento River and the American River in the northern portion of California's expansive Central Valley. Its estimated 2014 population of 485,199 made it the sixth-largest city in California. Sacramento is the cultural and economic core of the Sacramento metropolitan area, which includes seven counties with a 2010 population of 2,414,783. Its metropolitan area is the fourth largest in California after the Greater Los Angeles area, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the San Diego metropolitan area, and is the 27th largest in the United States. In 2002, the Civil Rights Project at Harvard University conducted for TIME magazine named Sacramento "America's Most Diverse City".
Sacramento became a city through the efforts of the Swiss immigrant John Sutter, Sr., his son John Sutter, Jr., and James W. Marshall. Sacramento grew quickly thanks to the protection of Sutter's Fort, which was established by Sutter in 1839. During the California Gold Rush, Sacramento was a major distribution point, a commercial and agricultural center, and a terminus for wagon trains, stagecoaches, riverboats, the telegraph, the Pony Express, and the First Transcontinental Railroad.

Four hundred 58 students were eligible to receive their undergraduate degree, 230 earned their education credential, 15 completed the Education Doctorate requirements and 10 earned their Master of Arts degree in Education with a concentration in Special Education.

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department stated Ono was held to the Sacramento County Jail after the deputies of the department were summoned to the couple’s apartment in the 8600 block of Florin Road. Ono called the sheriff department and reported that he found his wife dead inside the home. An 89-year old Sacramento man was arrested by California police linked with the killing of his 83-year old wife. Police authority reported that the man has been identified as Masaharu Ono.
Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department stated Ono was held to the Sacramento County Jail after the deputies of the department were summoned to the couple’s apartment in the 8600 block of Florin Road.
Ono called the sheriff department and reported that he found his wife dead inside the home. Sheriff’s went to the apartment and after investigating the crime screen they concluded that the victim had injuries which led to her death that were suspicious in nature. The department claimed that Ono was eventually the one to blame for the murder as there were no other suspect.
Ono is currently being held in the Sacramento County Jail without the possibility of getting a bail anytime sooner, the department said. Masaharu Ono will be taken to the court and appear in front of the Judge on Tuesday, June 9th, 2015.
According to the detectives, there are no other doubtable suspects in this case and it is one of the key reason of their claim on Ono being the prime suspect of his 83-year old wife’s murder.
The victim, Hiroko Ono has been identified by the Sacramento coroner’s office. No autopsy report of the murder victim has been released yet.

The California Government assured the citizens that the emergency spillway would not be used in the lake overflow as Oroville Dam's concrete spillway collapsed due to structural failure at 65,000 CFS release. Now with the lower hydroelectric facility discharge out flow clogged with debris there will be +12,000 CFS flow over top and also authorities will scale back flow from collapsed spillway to 35,000 CFS from 55,000 CFS which means and extra 32,000 CFS will pour over the untested emergency spillway.

With the election around the next corner, many public figures and groups are announcing their support for multiple marijuana ballot measures. Sacramento Mayor, Darrell Steinberg, has joined the California Medical Association, Equality California and California League of Conservation in efforts to show his support for cannabis-use. Last week, Steinberg joined supporters who are in favor of Proposition 64, a measure that will allow adults 21 and older to possess, transport, purchase, consume and share up to one ounce of flower and eight grams of concentrates. In addition to legalizing recreational use, Proposition 64 also includes land and water protection measures. In a statement, Steinberg believes that this ballot measure is carefully crafted to protect the public safety, control land-use authority, create new revenue for youth and job training programs.
Hebrew University's Arg Innovation investment fund has been put into Cannabi-Tech, a developer of an analysis device for medical marijuana flowers. Cannabi-Tech’s device allows the nondestructive detection, analysis and automated sorting of individual medical cannabis flowers. This affordable device combines infrared, spectrometry and imaging tools to provide a sensitive method of detecting and quantifying the active compounds within the cannabis plant. Currently, testing protocols depend on statistical sampling for assessing the composition and potency of an entire batch of cannabis flowers. According to Times Of Israel, results are unreliable due to the heterogeneous nature of the cannabis plant. Cannabi-Tech will use this investment to develop a solution that accurately examines cannabis flowers without destroying them in the process.
A marijuana industry group wants Oregon lawmakers to push back October 1st deadlines for the state’s new cannabis testing, packaging, and labeling rules by at least 30 days. The deadline for implementing these policies was initially intended to coincide with the recreational market under the Oregon Liquor Control Commission. Now, the liquor control commission plans to gradually rollout retailers beginning next month. Many marijuana businesses aren’t ready to comply and should allow dispensaries to continue taking in products tested and packaged under current standards. Jonathan Modie, who represents the Oregon Health Authority, says his agency is discussing the request with the governor's office and the liquor control agency.

Veronica Hill of California Travel Tips offers a guided tour of Old Sacramento State Historic Park in Sacramento, CA. Established in 1849, the Old Sacramento district was formed as eager miners, bankers and businessmen arrived for California's Gold Rush. Today, there are 53 historic Spanish-style buildings to explore, and many have been faithfully restored.
Old Sacramento attractions include the 1851 Big Four House, named for the founders of the First Transcontinental Railroad; and the 1853 B. F. Hastings Building, which once housed the Pony Express terminal and California's Supreme Court. During Sacramento's boom years, miners and pioneers flocked to the Eagle Theatre, which was established in 1849. This was the first permanent theater in California, and is rumored to be haunted by its former owner.
Set on 28 acres and roughly eight city blocks, Old Sacramento is packed with activities. You can tour Sacramento by electric bicycle or horse and carriage, explore the Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum, or hop aboard the California State Railroad Museum Sacramento Southern Railroad for a 40-minute train ride.
Old Sacramento was the terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad and the last stop on the Pony Express. At 2nd and J streets, you'll find the Pony Express Monument, which commemorates the 1,900-mile mail route from Missouri to Sacramento. Another monument honors Theodore Judah, the engineer who helped design the first Transcontinental Railroad.
In 1862, a record-breaking rainstorm flooded Sacramento, causing the city to raise the streets up to 14 feet by the 1870s. Underground Tours are offered through the Sacramento History Museum, where you can explore the legends that lurk beneath the city sidewalks; or you can check out Pioneer Park, which offers a glimpse at the lower levels of the city.
For a unique overnight, hang your hat at The Delta King, which is docked on the Sacramento River waterfront. This 1920s riverboat cruised between San Francisco and Sacramento until the 1940s and is one of the most unique and charming hotels in Sacramento. In 1982, the Delta King was restored to the tune of $9 million, and now boasts modern hotel rooms, a theater, wine school and two charming Old Sacramento restaurants.
One thing to remember — most of Old Town is metered parking, so you'll need some change to park. Change machines are located on almost every city block.

Veronica Hill of California Travel Tips offers a guided tour of Old Sacramento State Historic Park in Sacramento, CA. Established in 1849, the Old Sacramento district was formed as eager miners, bankers and businessmen arrived for California's Gold Rush. Today, there are 53 historic Spanish-style buildings to explore, and many have been faithfully restored.
Old Sacramento attractions include the 1851 Big Four House, named for the founders of the First Transcontinental Railroad; and the 1853 B. F. Hastings Building, which once housed the Pony Express terminal and California's Supreme Court. During Sacramento's boom years, miners and pioneers flocked to the Eagle Theatre, which was established in 1849. This was the first permanent theater in California, and is rumored to be haunted by its former owner.
Set on 28 acres and roughly eight city blocks, Old Sacramento is packed with activities. You can tour Sacramento by electric bicycle or horse and carriage, explore the Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum, or hop aboard the California State Railroad Museum Sacramento Southern Railroad for a 40-minute train ride.
Old Sacramento was the terminus of the Transcontinental Railroad and the last stop on the Pony Express. At 2nd and J streets, you'll find the Pony Express Monument, which commemorates the 1,900-mile mail route from Missouri to Sacramento. Another monument honors Theodore Judah, the engineer who helped design the first Transcontinental Railroad.
In 1862, a record-breaking rainstorm flooded Sacramento, causing the city to raise the streets up to 14 feet by the 1870s. Underground Tours are offered through the Sacramento History Museum, where you can explore the legends that lurk beneath the city sidewalks; or you can check out Pioneer Park, which offers a glimpse at the lower levels of the city.
For a unique overnight, hang your hat at The Delta King, which is docked on the Sacramento River waterfront. This 1920s riverboat cruised between San Francisco and Sacramento until the 1940s and is one of the most unique and charming hotels in Sacramento. In 1982, the Delta King was restored to the tune of $9 million, and now boasts modern hotel rooms, a theater, wine school and two charming Old Sacramento restaurants.
One thing to remember — most of Old Town is metered parking, so you'll need some change to park. Change machines are located on almost every city block.
