Bridgeport is the largest city proper in the American state of Connecticut and the 5th-largest in New England. Located in Fairfield County at the mouth of the Pequonnock River onto Long Island Sound, the city had a population of 144,229 during the 2010 Census. It is bordered by the towns of Trumbull to the north, Fairfield to the west, and Stratford to the east. The Greater Bridgeport area is the 48th-largest urban area in the United States, just behind Hartford (47th), and forms part of the Greater New York City Area.
Bridgeport was inhabited by the Paugussett Indian tribe at the time of its English colonization. The English farming community became a center of trade, shipbuilding, and whaling. The town incorporated itself to subsidize the Housatonic Railroad and rapidly industrialized following its connection to the New York and New Haven. Manufacturing was the mainstay of the local economy until the 1970s. Industrial restructuring and suburbanization caused the loss of many jobs and affluent residents, leaving Bridgeport struggling with problems of poverty and crime. In the 21st century, conversion of office and factory buildings to residential use and other redevelopment is attracting new residents.

Visit http://BARE-USA.com #BAREUSA on social media Click on the timestamps below & skip to your favorite locations! When I was growing up we pent a lot of time in Connecticut. My mom had some very close friends there and we would stay with them often when we were visiting the NYC. They lived in Greenwich, a beautiful town, with lots of money, big houses, lush green forests and windy roads. Coming from a small middle class city in Maine I was always taken back by Greenwich and an impression of what I thought Connecticut was had been permanently imprinted on my brain, that was until I ventured out to explore for my project. My first stop was Bridgeport Connecticut, a far cry from the luxuries of Greenwich, most of Bridgeport had seemed to have fallen into disrepair. Once a bustling industr...

A day at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, CT with Marc, Cliff and Ahra on a Sunday afternoon in January 2016. Saw the Shark Dive Show where they have a guide in scuba gear actually in the tank with the sharks (and she has a microphone and answers questions as well as giving information on the sharks). Also saw the Touch a Jellyfish and Touch a Ray areas, along with seeing the meerkats, seals, sea turtles and other exhibits. The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk is located at 10 North Water Street in Norwalk, CT 06854 (203-852-0700). Definitely a fun time.
