Incredible day at MLB’s oldest stadium. I checked out the Green Monster, wrote my name on the “Pesky Pole,” and snagged a bunch of baseballs in various spots.

Tempers were flaring in Boston! In the first game of this series, fans shouted racial slurs at Adam Jones and threw peanuts at him. Manny Machado responded by saying he'd lost all respect for the Red Sox organization, and the next day, Chris Sale threw a pitch behind him. At the game featured in this video (Day 3 of the series -- May 3, 2017) the drama continued and resulted in a controversial ejection.
For me personally, it was a great day. I snagged lots of baseballs, and for the second straight day, I wandered all around this beautiful and unique stadium. Good times!

I shoot the Red Sox for a living in HD. I enjoy working with expensive and state-of-the-art television equipment.
A few people emailed me recently and asked me if I could shoot a video blog of my very expensive HD camera that I use to shoot for the networks at Fenway Park. Well, here you go!
I use a Sony HDC-910 camera head with a 75x (9.5mm to 700mm zoom 1:1.7) Canon HD lens with an optical image stabilizer. The camera head new has a retail price of $94,700.00 and that does not include the viewfinder or the lens! The lens is almost as much! The camera is mounted to a large fluid head on Miller sticks. The fluid head is the Vinten Vector 70 and I would ague that this is the best hard camera pan head ever made.
I brought my PMW-EX1 to work today and during my lunch break, I shot a quick video explaining the camera the best I could. I had a million other things I had to do that day. I did not spend much time on this, but this short little film should answer the questions I was asked.
Keep watching until the end. I got a shot of the moon rising over the right field seats and I think you will like it. I shot this during the game a few days ago and TV color analyst Jerry Remy even stated that it was “the best shot he has ever seen on NESN” (New England Sports Network). Now keep in mind, this shot had nothing to do with baseball or sports for that matter. Go figure.
I see shots like this on the Discovery channel all the time!
The moon shot I added to this video was off a dvd copy of the clip. In crappy standard def. I up-converted it to 720p in Final Cut. I did not have a chance to get a HD version yet.

Fenway Park
Fenway Park is a baseball park located in Boston, Massachusetts, at 4 Yawkey Way near Kenmore Square. Since 1912, it has been the home of the Boston Red Sox, the city's Major League Baseball (MLB) franchise. It is the oldest ballpark in MLB.
Because of its age and constrained location in Boston's dense Fenway–Kenmore neighborhood, the park has been renovated or expanded many times, resulting in quirky features including "The Triangle" (below), "Pesky's Pole", and the Green Monster in left field. It is the fourth smallest among MLB ballparks by seating capacity, second smallest by total capacity, and one of eight that cannot accommodate at least 40,000 spectators.
Fenway has hosted the World Series ten times, with the Red Sox winning five of them, and the Braves (then of Boston) winning one. The first, in the park's inaugural season, was the 1912 World Series and the most recent was the 2013 World Series. Beside baseball games it has been the site of many other sporting and cultural events including professional football games for the Boston Redskins, Boston Yanks, and the Boston Patriots; concerts; soccer and hockey games; and political and religious campaigns.

Boston Red Sox
The Boston Red Sox are an American professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts, that competes in Major League Baseball (MLB). They are members of the East division of the American League (AL). The Red Sox have won eight World Series championships, having appeared in 12. Founded in 1901 as one of the American League's eight charter franchises, the Red Sox' home ballpark has been Fenway Park since 1912. The "Red Sox" name was chosen by the team owner, John I. Taylor, around 1908, following the lead of previous teams that had been known as the "Boston Red Stockings", including the forerunner of the Atlanta Braves.
Boston was a dominant team in the new league, defeating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the first World Series in 1903 and winning four more championships by 1918. However, they then went into one of the longest championship droughts in baseball history, called by some the "Curse of the Bambino" after its alleged beginning with the Red Sox' sale of Babe Ruth to the rival New York Yankees two years after their world championship in 1918, an 86-year wait before the team's sixth World Championship in 2004. The team's history during that period was punctuated with some of the most memorable moments in World Series history, including Enos Slaughter's "mad dash" in 1946, the "Impossible Dream" of 1967, Carlton Fisk's home run in 1975, and Bill Buckner's error in 1986. Following their victory in the 2013 World Series, they became the first team to win three World Series trophies in the 21st century, including championships in 2004 and 2007. Red Sox history has also been marked by the team's intense rivalry with the Yankees, arguably the fiercest and most historic in North American professional sports.

Please check out my Television Production Blog at http://www.tomguilmette.com/wp/my-blog/ A college professor who teaches television production asked me to shoot a short step-by-step video of my set day at Fenway Park for the television network I freelance for. I shot this video with a Kodak Easy Share v705 digital still camera set to movie mode. For this project, this video is content driven, not visual. Sorry the picture is less than standard definition. I voiced this video in a Fenway bathroom using my new Zoom H4 four track stereo handy audio recorder. I used the built in stereo pair on the unit and I am very happy with the results. I also shot a short video about the Sony HDC-910 that is available to view in my videos on Vimeo.

A few people emailed me recently and asked me if I could shoot a video blog of my very expensive HD camera that I use to shoot for the networks at Fenway Park. Well, here you go! I use a Sony HDC-910 camera head with a 75x (9.5mm to 700mm zoom 1:1.7) Canon HD lens with an optical image stabilizer. The camera head new has a retail price of $94,700.00 and that does not include the viewfinder or the lens! The lens is almost as much! The camera is mounted to a large fluid head on Miller sticks. Fenway Flavor - Letus Ultimate Footage

This footage was used for playoff promos but as many of you know, the Sox are out! :-( This was shot at 1080 30p with a Sony PMW-EX1 and a Letus Ultimate 35mm lens adapter. I used all Nikon prime lenses (mostly a 55mm f1.2). The dolly moves where created on a PVC skateboard dolly and I used a Vinten Vision 10 AS tripod. Network Television Camera Setup at Fenway Park - Sony HDC-910

I shot this video with a Kodak Easy Share v705 digital still camera set to movie mode. For this project, this video is content driven, not visual. Sorry the picture is less than standard definition. I voiced this video in a Fenway bathroom using my new Zoom H4 four track stereo handy audio recorder. I used the built in stereo pair on the unit and I am very happy with the results. I also shot a short video about the Sony HDC-910 that is available to view in my videos on Vimeo.

Bower/Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f1.4 // Fenway Park
Today I got the new Bower 35mm f1.4 lens for my Canon 7D. It's like the generic brand cereal at the grocery store. I mean, you can get the exact same lens under the Samyang and Rokinon brand names. I've never had a problem with store brand anything. That is, except for Fruit Loops. Could always tell the difference. But simply put, the Bower 35mm f1.4 is a fast, manual lens designed specifically for DSLR video shooters who don't have much of a use for autofocus. So if you don't need it, why pay for it? That's at least what this Korean company thinks, and I'm jumping on board. It's fantastic, seems solid and well built. Got a nice big, smooth focus wheel. But remember, it's a manual lens so your iris is control by a ring of the lens itself (LIKE A REAL *#(&)#$ing VIDEO CAMERA!). Also, the ...

National Association of Broadcasters - NAB preview from Fenway Park
I will be leaving after the Red Sox game on Monday April 20th to head to Las Vegas Nevada to attend the NAB show. This will be my first and I am very excited. Tempers were flaring in Boston! In the first game of this series, fans shouted racial slurs at Adam Jones and threw peanuts at him. Manny Machado responded by saying he'd lost all respect for the Red Sox organization, and the next day, Chris Sale threw a pitch behind him. At the game featured in this video (Day 3 of the series -- May 3, 2017) the drama continued and resulted in a controversial ejection.
For me personally, it was a great day. I snagged lots of baseballs, and for the second straight day, I wandered all around this beautiful and unique stadium. Good times!

I brought my PMW-EX1 to work today and during my lunch break, I shot a quick video explaining the camera the best I could. I had a million other things I had to do that day. I did not spend much time on this, but this short little film should answer the questions I was asked.
Keep watching until the end. I got a shot of the moon rising over the right field seats and I think you will like it. I shot this during the game a few days ago and TV color analyst Jerry Remy even stated that it was “the best shot he has ever seen on NESN” (New England Sports Network). Now keep in mind, this shot had nothing to do with baseball or sports for that matter. Go figure.
I see shots like this on the Discovery channel all the time!
The moon shot I added to this video was off a dvd copy of the clip. In crappy standard def. I up-converted it to 720p in Final Cut. I did not have a chance to get a HD version yet.

But, overall I love the lens. Great value for $499... if you do still photography it becomes a dilemma and you might want to splurge for the autofoucs on the Canon lens. It's like a grand more though.
Anyways, my own video is the first I've seen come from this lens under the Bower name. It is untouched. No color correction, grading, etc. I used the Marvels Cine picture profile setting on my Canon 7D. Highest ISO setting used was 320. At night, the lights in the ballpark were too bright to let me get down to f1.4 without a ND filter. Overall range in video is f1.4 to f4.
Keep in mind this was shot hand-held during free moments working a wireless PDW-700 for the Fenway HD boards.

I will be working in the Vinten (UK-based camera support company) and Letus (35mm lens adapters) booths from Tuesday April 21st to Thursday April 23rd.

In a city that is the home of the nation's top universities, we can start our list in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, AKA MIT, located in Cambridge. this great institute features 168 acres of architectural buildings, statuary and the MIT Museum. One of the highlights of the MIT is the Stata Center, a complex known for its controversial design, built in 2004 and designed by the well-known architect Frank Gehry.
At number 9 we suggest the Massachusetts state house. the 1797 historic landmark is one of the 16 stops of the famous Freedom trail. watch our special video on this trail at Vidtur.com. the Massachusetts state house is one of the most beautiful buildings in the trail, mainly recognized by it's gilded dome, and red brick façade. and it is located in one of Boston's most beautiful naighborhoods, Beacon Hill. At number 8 we recommend the oldest public park in Boston, the Boston Common. Number 7 is Prudential center. This commercial complex features many of the most popular shops in the fashion world. One of the exciting attractions is the Prudential Skywalk in the 50th floor of the Prudential Tower, which is one of the tallest skyscrapers of Boston. Time to do some shopping. with More than 100 stores are available in our number 3 attraction. quincy market is packed with upscale restaurants and food stalls and more. Red Sox vs. Orioles beanball war at Fenway Park
Tempers were flaring in Boston! In the first game of this series, fans shouted racial slurs at Adam Jones and threw peanuts at him. Manny Machado responded by saying he'd lost all respect for the Red Sox organization, and the next day, Chris Sale threw a pitch behind him. At the game featured in this video (Day 3 of the series -- May 3, 2017) the drama continued and resulted in a controversial ejection. For me personally, it was a great day. I snagged lots of baseballs, and for the second straight day, I wandered all around this beautiful and unique stadium. Good times! I enjoy working with expensive and state-of-the-art television equipment. A few people emailed me recently and asked me if I could shoot a video blog of my very expensive HD camera that I use to shoot for the networks at Fenway Park. Well, here you go! I use a Sony HDC-910 camera head with a 75x (9.5mm to 700mm zoom 1:1.7) Canon HD lens with an optical image stabilizer. The camera head new has a retail price of $94,700.00 and that does not include the viewfinder or the lens! The lens is almost as much! The camera is mounted to a large fluid head on Miller sticks. The fluid head is the Vinten Vector 70 and I would ague that this is the best hard camera pan he...

Fenway Flavor - Letus Ultimate Footage

This footage was used for playoff promos but as many of you know, the Sox are out! :-( This was shot at 1080 30p with a Sony PMW-EX1 and a Letus Ultimate 35mm lens adapter. I used all Nikon prime lenses (mostly a 55mm f1.2). The dolly moves where created on a PVC skateboard dolly and I used a Vinten Vision 10 AS tripod. Network Television Camera Setup at Fenway Park - Sony HDC-910
Please check out my Television Production Blog at http://www.tomguilmette.com/wp/my-blog/ A college professor who teaches television production asked me to shoot a short step-by-step video of my set day at Fenway Park for the television network I freelance for. I shot this video with a Kodak Easy Share v705 digital still camera set to movie mode. For this project, this video is content driven, not visual. Sorry the picture is less than standard definition. I voiced this video in a Fenway bathroom using my new Zoom H4 four track stereo handy audio recorder. I used the built in stereo pair on the unit and I am very happy with the results. I also shot a short video about the Sony HDC-910 that is available to view in my videos on Vimeo.

Bower/Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f1.4 // Fenway Park
Today I got the new Bower 35mm f1.4 lens for my Canon 7D. It's like the generic brand cereal at the grocery store. I mean, you can get the exact same lens under the Samyang and Rokinon brand names. I've never had a problem with store brand anything. That is, except for Fruit Loops. Could always tell the difference. But simply put, the Bower 35mm f1.4 is a fast, manual lens designed specifically for DSLR video shooters who don't have much of a use for autofocus. So if you don't need it, why pay for it? That's at least what this Korean company thinks, and I'm jumping on board. It's fantastic, seems solid and well built. Got a nice big, smooth focus wheel. Tempers were flaring in Boston! In the first game of this series, fans shouted racial slurs at Adam Jones and threw peanuts at him. Manny Machado responded by saying he'd lost all respect for the Red Sox organization, and the next day, Chris Sale threw a pitch behind him. At the game featured in this video (Day 3 of the series -- May 3, 2017) the drama continued and resulted in a controversial ejection.
For me personally, it was a great day. I snagged lots of baseballs, and for the second straight day, I wandered all around this beautiful and unique stadium. Good times!

I shoot the Red Sox for a living in HD. I enjoy working with expensive and state-of-the-art television equipment.
A few people emailed me recently and asked me if I could shoot a video blog of my very expensive HD camera that I use to shoot for the networks at Fenway Park. Well, here you go!
I use a Sony HDC-910 camera head with a 75x (9.5mm to 700mm zoom 1:1.7) Canon HD lens with an optical image stabilizer. The camera head new has a retail price of $94,700.00 and that does not include the viewfinder or the lens! The lens is almost as much! The camera is mounted to a large fluid head on Miller sticks. The fluid head is the Vinten Vector 70 and I would ague that this is the best hard camera pan head ever made.
I brought my PMW-EX1 to work today and during my lunch break, I shot a quick video explaining the camera the best I could. I had a million other things I had to do that day. I did not spend much time on this, but this short little film should answer the questions I was asked.
Keep watching until the end. I got a shot of the moon rising over the right field seats and I think you will like it. I shot this during the game a few days ago and TV color analyst Jerry Remy even stated that it was “the best shot he has ever seen on NESN” (New England Sports Network). Now keep in mind, this shot had nothing to do with baseball or sports for that matter. Go figure.
I see shots like this on the Discovery channel all the time!
The moon shot I added to this video was off a dvd copy of the clip. In crappy standard def. I up-converted it to 720p in Final Cut. I did not have a chance to get a HD version yet.

I shot this video with a Kodak Easy Share v705 digital still camera set to movie mode. For this project, this video is content driven, not visual. Sorry the picture is less than standard definition.
I voiced this video in a Fenway bathroom using my new Zoom H4 four track stereo handy audio recorder. I used the built in stereo pair on the unit and I am very happy with the results.

Today I got the new Bower 35mm f1.4 lens for my Canon 7D. It's like the generic brand cereal at the grocery store. I mean, you can get the exact same lens under...
Today I got the new Bower 35mm f1.4 lens for my Canon 7D. It's like the generic brand cereal at the grocery store. I mean, you can get the exact same lens under the Samyang and Rokinon brand names. I've never had a problem with store brand anything. That is, except for Fruit Loops. Could always tell the difference.
But simply put, the Bower 35mm f1.4 is a fast, manual lens designed specifically for DSLR video shooters who don't have much of a use for autofocus. So if you don't need it, why pay for it? That's at least what this Korean company thinks, and I'm jumping on board.
It's fantastic, seems solid and well built. Got a nice big, smooth focus wheel. But remember, it's a manual lens so your iris is control by a ring of the lens itself (LIKE A REAL *#(&)#$ing VIDEO CAMERA!). Also, the exposure display meter seems to measure really low... don't trust it. Oh, the lens cap falls off too easily.
But, overall I love the lens. Great value for $499... if you do still photography it becomes a dilemma and you might want to splurge for the autofoucs on the Canon lens. It's like a grand more though.
Anyways, my own video is the first I've seen come from this lens under the Bower name. It is untouched. No color correction, grading, etc. I used the Marvels Cine picture profile setting on my Canon 7D. Highest ISO setting used was 320. At night, the lights in the ballpark were too bright to let me get down to f1.4 without a ND filter. Overall range in video is f1.4 to f4.
Keep in mind this was shot hand-held during free moments working a wireless PDW-700 for the Fenway HD boards.

Bostonians are proud of their city and I wanted to make a video they could be proud of, and which attempts to capture the greatness that is Boston. I've had the opportunity to explore Boston and be inspired by it countless times, and I tried to channel that inspiration into this video. I hope Bostonians enjoy seeing their city through my eyes.

Civic workers build a temporary shed in the park for the fire engine ... The fire brigade seems to have confused park with parking lot. Why else would a fire engine be sitting bang in the middle of Priyadarshini Park (PDP), that too right on the walking track? Although no fire was reported, the park gate and several tree branches were cut to allow the fire truck to enter, spreading fears of a takeover of the park ... I am not against parks....
