Tozeur (Tunisian Arabic: توزر Tozir, Berber: Tuzer / ⵜⵓⵣⴻⵔ) is an oasis and a city in south west Tunisia. The city is located North West of Chott el-Djerid, in between this Chott and the smaller Chott el-Gharsa. It is the capital of the Tozeur Governorate.
With hundreds of thousands of palm trees, Tozeur is a large oasis. The dates that are exported from Tozeur are very well known. In ancient times, before the advent of motorized vehicles, the oasis was important for the transportation through the Sahara, which took place in caravans. The name of the city in antiquity was Tusuros, it was an important Roman outpost.
In the medina (old city) of Tozeur, one can find traditional architecture, fashion and workmanship. Like elsewhere in Tunisia, the local population is generally very hospitable towards tourists, and there are also many tourist facilities. From Tozeur one can make trips on a camel, explore the Sahara Desert and get to know the Chott el-Djerid, where one can see Fata Morgana mirages.

CAMERA GEAR: MAVIC PRO: htt...

Travel video about destination Tozeur in Tunisia. Once travelled by caravan trains, the seemingly infinite horizons of the region's salt lakes have remained unchanged. But on the edge of this lifeless world is the flourishing city of Tozeur. This small charming city in the south west of Tunisia is surrounded by a beautiful and fertile oasis landscape, the Oasis of Djerid: the oasis of the palm branch. The Bled El Djerid Oasis features approximately 200,000 palms and the dates that grow in this region, the Deglet Ennour, are considered to be among Tunisia's finest. The provincial capital of Tozeur is famous for its unique architecture and the buildings in the old part of the city, the Ouled Halef, are particularly fascinating. Hidden in one of the sunlit inner courtyards of the old area of t...
Travel video about destination Tunisian Oasis in Tunisia. Gabes is the beginning of a journey through what is the fascinating oasis of Tunisia, that contains all the mystique of the Orient: art, culture, history and endless desert horizons. The Ghorfas of Medenine boast a variety of souvenir shops and in the past, the multi-floored mud buildings served as dwellings and storage areas for the semi-nomads of the region. A Ghorfa is a collection of buildings that form part of large complexes with hundreds of buildings grouped together around large courtyards. Surrounded by desert is the sleepy village of Douz that was once a thriving camel trading centre. Now it contains markets and is also the location of the famous Sahara Festival. The Torra Ruins in Mansurah are a further highlight of th...
Tunisia is a country situated on the Mediterranean coast of North Africa, midway between the Atlantic Ocean and the Nile Valley. It is bordered by Algeria in the west and Libya in the south-east. An abrupt southern turn of its shoreline gives Tunisia two faces on the Mediterranean.
Tunisisa was established by the Phoenicians, but during its eventful history it belonged to the Roman Empire, was under Spanish, Turkish and Arab influences, and later under the French rule. Its architecture, art and culture all reflect this diversity. The ruins of the ancient metropolis of Carthage, the sand beaches of Hammamet, the old town of Tunis, the bazaars of Sousse, the mystical salt lake, the treasures of the Bardo Museum, the cave houses of Matmata, the palm trees of Tozeur, the bay and fish market of Kelibia, the Roman amphitheatre of El Djem, the blue and white houses of Sidi bou Said, the minarets, the oases of Chebika, the monumental buildings of the Ribats, the camels and the modern luxury hotels all are parts of the colorful mosaic, which is called Tunisia. --------------...

After a tiring journey from Sousse on the overnight train and a long walk, with rucksacks, around Tozeur in South West Tunisia, Heather and I treated ourselves to a lunch in a local restaurant. We came across the Restaurant Tozorous by happenstance, walking off the main road around the town. What caught our eye was the sign "salle climatisée". However, there was no electric air conditioning, the lovely cool air in the dining room was the result of the natural insulation of the palm wood walls and roof. We enjoyed a simple tomato, onion and olive oil starter, followed by couscous legume for Heather and a couscous royal for myself. The service was excellent, the food was great and the prices were very good value. If you are ever in Tozeur in the south west of Tunisia pop in for lunch li...

Sun is up should be feeling great,
your feeling rough got too much on your plate,
a busy day got a lot to do,
a heavy head you think you've caught the flu.
Something deep inside begins to stir,
spirit, conscience your not really sure.
It's gonna be okay...
It's gonna be okay...
Another day your late for work,
the shower's cold you ain't got no clean shirt.
A cup of tea just might do the trick,
the milk's gone off by now feeling sick.
Something deep inside begins to stir,
spirit, conscience your not really sure.
It's gonna be okay...
It's gonna be okay...
We laughed, we cried, we shared along the way,
we did some things we knew we shouldn't do.
So after all what's this life living for,
work it out or head straight for the door
It's gonna be okay...either way
It's gonna be okay...
You close your eyes, try to sleep.
Scold yourself for hours that you keep.
Drifting off will I dream tonight?
In my dreams perhaps I'll get it right.
Something deep inside begins to purrr,
spirit, conscience your not really sure.
It's gonna be okay...
It's gonna be okay...either way
