Drowned in Sound, sometimes abbreviated to DiS, is a UK-based music webzine financed by artist management company Silentway.
DiS started as an email fanzine in 1998 called 'The Last Resort' but was relaunched by founder Sean Adams as Drowned in Sound in 2000. It is edited by Sean Adams.
The freelance writing team is currently spread across four continents – North America, Asia, Europe and Australasia. The site is mostly based on contributions from unpaid writers and has an integrated forum to allow for discussion and comments on interviews, news and reviews. It also includes a user-rated database of artists and bands as well as details for most live music venues (big and small) in the UK. The site has over 60,000 registered members, and gets around 470,000 unique visitors per month.
In 2006 the site launched a podcast called Drowned in Sound Radio.
In November 2007, DiS teamed up with ad-supported download site RCRDLBL.com to launch an audio and video blog, entitled "Drownload".
The Great Escape or Great Escape may refer to:
In physics, sound is a vibration that propagates as a typically audible mechanical wave of pressure and displacement, through a medium such as air or water. In physiology and psychology, sound is the reception of such waves and their perception by the brain.
Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids including vibration, sound, ultrasound, and infrasound. A scientist who works in the field of acoustics is an acoustician, while someone working in the field of acoustical engineering may be called an acoustical engineer. An audio engineer, on the other hand is concerned with the recording, manipulation, mixing, and reproduction of sound.
Applications of acoustics are found in almost all aspects of modern society, subdisciplines include aeroacoustics, audio signal processing, architectural acoustics, bioacoustics, electro-acoustics, environmental noise, musical acoustics, noise control, psychoacoustics, speech, ultrasound, underwater acoustics, and vibration.

Gemma Hayes (born 11 August 1977) is an Irish musician, singer-songwriter and composer. Primarily known as a vocalist and guitarist, she is also proficient with a wide range of instruments, including the piano and the harmonica. She is also a member of The Cake Sale and Printer Clips.
Hayes grew up in Ballyporeen, Tipperary with her parents and seven other siblings. She was surrounded by music from an early age heavily influenced by her siblings and her father who was a keyboardist in a local band. Hayes would later move to County Limerick to attend boarding school. By this time, Hayes was proficient at piano and found that the music used to counter the boredom of living in a small village. She would later move to Dublin City to attend UCD to study sociology, psychology and history. Hayes soon dropped out of university to concentrate on her music and to gig at music venues across the city. This was subsidised by working part-time in a laundrette.

What's the point of being a musical genius, if you can't share a slither of it with the world? It's not like genius shared, is genius halved, so DiS' Wendy Roby grabbed a somewhat sweaty Gonzales after his set at Latitude, plonked him at a piano, switched a camera on and asked him to teach us... Metric's Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw discuss their fifth studio album Synthetica with Drowned in Sound editor Sean Adams. This conversation includes chat about the writing of the album, Jimmy's seven "synth symphonies", a photograph which inspired the album, rock'n'roll's existential crisis, whether 'protest music is dead', but the bulk of the conversation swarms around the idea of authenticity in an age of Instagram and Urban Outfitters. This is my second attempt to make a tune using a loop pedal. I've only been using this for a few days, but it is amazing what you can come up with. I need to invest in a pedal with more loops though, because I can't break the song down or record a bridge. :)

Elvis Presley-Drowned In Sound the 08-24-1969 MS complete cd-Please read. I re-equalized the mono tracks to match the equalization of the stereo tracks so that the transitions between the stereo tracks and mono tracks were not as obvious. Hopefully one day this show will be released with all the tracks in true stereo. The mp3 bite rate is only 256 kpbs a second because the video is over 1 hour. If the bit rate was higher the size of the file would be over 2 gigs, and you can not go over a 2 gig size file here on YT. I know that 320 and 384 are better bit rates for audio, but 256 is much better than 128 as we all know. I hope you Elvis fans like this.

Tired of the ads and want this on your music player? Get the track here: https://cheesynirvosa.bandcamp.com/track/death-star-ambient-noise Subwoofer or headphones highly suggested. This is the classic Death Star sound from Star Wars for 12 hours. Perfect for imagining that you are a Jedi working towards justice in deep space. Also great for meditating, relaxing, sleeping, or drowning out other annoying sounds.
On this week's Insider Podcast, we talk to Dave Hanratty of Drowned In Sound and State Magazine about this year's Oscars, dissecting the winners and the losers, the snubs and the upsets and whether or not the Academy Awards are still relevant in this day and age.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colors_of_noise This is 12 hours of pure Red noise ( Brownian ) that I created with Audacity in full HD stereo. Perfect for drowning out other sounds and relaxing. I'll be using this one personally to get to sleep in hotels if I forget my fan again. Other uses I see for it are meditation, yoga, or anything that requires high amounts of concentration on nothing in particular.
This video is soothing Parrot White Noise for you to play while you're away. Babies love white noise because it reminds them of the womb, but parrots love white noise because it is a continued even noise that doesn't hurt their ears, drowns out exterior sounds from other birds outside, and helps create a sleep-comfortable enviornment versus dead silence, while you are away. Vacuum cleaners when out of sight, treadmills running, and dishwashers are all examples of other continuous noises in the home that can help soothe a parrot, but might not be able to play in the background while you are away. Leave playing all day while you are working, let this play while you are doing house work, etc. for a more calm and relaxed parrot. Do try and slowly introduce this noise while you are with you par...
