Une partie de la gauche radicale considère la revendication d’un revenu de base universel comme un instrument pour : a) “faire réfléchir les gens” aux possibilités productives et à la distribution de la richesse dans le régime capitaliste; b) unifier autour d’une demande commune une classe ouvrière fragmentée et atomisée. Nous ne pensons pas que cette revendication soit utile, pour les raisons suivantes :

In February and March 2004, the Roma unemployed in Slovakia responded to cuts in welfare provisions with demonstrations and looting. The state's response involved the greatest mobilization of police forces since the fall of Stalinism. Although the unrest was crushed, it managed to secure better conditions for all unemployed in Slovakia.
