Barbiturate is an avant-garde death metal band that formed in 2011 as a studio project which featured well-seasoned local NY musicians Brett Weatherston (Bass Guitar, Production), Matt Scriva (Guitars) and Charles Greenberg (Vocals). The band has spent months in the studio crafting their debut release, entitled "DEEP", which was independently produced and subsequently independently released on February, 1st, 2014. "DEEP" features artwork from internationally renowned tattoo artists, from the cover art down to the CD and the band logo itself. Barbiturate is currently seeking distribution representation for this album, as well as additional material being prepared for their follow-up release, which is already near completion. All band assets are wholly owned independently by the band. Band Member Biography Brett Weatherston is an established professional in the musical instruments industry, having worked at Korg USA for the better part of a decade as their in-house Recording Engineer and Assistant Product Manager. He's been playing bass and writing music for over twenty years, many of which were spent playing locally and regionally touring with bands like: Shadowgate, Utopia Banished and Korotory. Brett has appeared as a studio musician on over thirty albums and demos to date. He currently holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Audio Recording. He has produced over a dozen heavy metal albums in his private studio facility. Matt Scriva is a long time musician and lead guitarist, having established his unique melodic playing style in bands such as: Resound, Shadowgate and Korotory. Matt has also been writing music and playing guitar for over twenty years, facilitating numerous appearances as a studio musician. He has regional and local playing experience in addition to hundreds of hours in studio time, both as a musician and as a producer. He is also a veteran in the musical instruments industry, having many years' experience on the retail side of the business. Charles Greenberg is a longtime vocalist and writer of prose. He's appeared on three albums, which feature his unique style of vocal delivery, which creates a truly avant-garde listening experience. Charles has regional live experience as the front man for the band We Will All Die Together, as well as various one off projects. He currently holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Management with a minor in Audio Recording. Charles is an internationally renowned tattoo collector, having amassed an impressive collection of artwork from upper echelon artists. He's taken this passion along with him to Barbiturate, commissioning works by world famous tattoo artists, whose work is featured on everything from the cover art to the CD itself; everything down to the logo, to help accurately deliver the intended Barbiturate experience to the listener.
