Zubin Mehta, The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra: Richard Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra   Comment by PhilMH

Release month from Decca's 1974 catalogue.

The Philharmonia Orchestra Conducted By Constantin Silvestri: Franck: Symphony In D Minor   Comment by Magic Marmalade

There's some directly transferable "Beatle-Logic" you can apply for these White-Gold labelled ASDs: As most Beatle collectors will know, the size of the word: "Stereo" on the upper right of the front cover gives a clue as to how early the pressing is, and in the case of...

Zubin Mehta, The Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra: Richard Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra   Comment by Magic Marmalade

I have seen ED 1 (Wide Band Grooved (WBG)) labels on this on the net.

Vladimir Ashkenazy: Chopin: The Four Scherzi / Prelude, Op.45 / Barcarolle, Op.60   Comment by Magic Marmalade

I'll go with that then. It has been nagging at me though, why this, with early matrices has later edition labels, when I've seen later issued albums with ED 1s (?) Doesn't really make sense. (I think a Zubin Mehta Decca I entered, which has narrow band labels on my copy,...

Vladimir Ashkenazy: Chopin: The Four Scherzi / Prelude, Op.45 / Barcarolle, Op.60   Comment by PhilMH

Hi MM, Decca's 1974 main catalogue gives the release date as April 1968.

Vladimir Ashkenazy: Chopin: The Four Scherzi / Prelude, Op.45 / Barcarolle, Op.60   Comment by Magic Marmalade

My copy of this has wide band grooved labels, but the upper left portion of the rim text is consistent with the second variety ED 2 (or later) text: "Made In England By...", as opposed to the first (ED 1) text: "Original Recording..."... ...However, my matrices for each...

Bamberg Symphony Orchestra: Dance Of The Seven Veils "Salome" - Waltz Scene "Intermezzo"   Comment by PhilMH

Release date from ad promoting May releases in that month's issue of Gramophone.

Clifford Curzon With The London Symphony Orchestra: Grieg: Piano Concerto - Litolff: Scherzo - Franck: Symphonic Variations   Comment by PhilMH

Release month from Decca's 1974 catalogue.

Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch. And Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Lollipops By Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch.   Comment by Magic Marmalade

Had a look at those Phil, and I'm fairly certain the red labels there with the thinner rim around the shaded dog - with gold text are earlier - coming, as they do in a scalloped flip-back sleeve. ...The other red ones (bold white text) were what they switched the older ones...

Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch. And Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Lollipops By Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch.   Comment by PhilMH

Discogs has two mono copies of this, with different labels, and the year entered as 1959, which appears to be the year applicable to the stereo issue. I have no idea which of the two labels came first.

Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch. And Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Lollipops By Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch.   Comment by PhilMH

Featured on the front cover of the December 1957 issue of GRAMOPHONE, stating "Available December 6".

Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch. And Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: Lollipops By Sir Thomas Beecham, Bart., Ch.   Comment by Gill Sans

This will be another compilation of tracks taken from records of full works. If you look through the full Beecham discography here you may find some of the albums which were used here

Luciano Pavarotti, Jose Carreras & Placido Domingo: The Golden Voices Of The 3 Tenors   Comment by Magic Marmalade

All done. Thanks to Juke Jules for assistance with this.
