Rajat Sharma

Rajat Sharma is the chairman and editor in chief of an Indian Hindi news channel, India TV. He is one of India's most prominent journalists.

Career

Sharma is currently the chairman and editor-in-chief of India TV, as well as host of "Aaj Ki Baat" news bulletin. He is said to be "close to Finance Minister Arun Jaitley".

Personal life

Rajat Sharma (born 18 February 1957) is originally from Delhi and his family lived in poverty. He married TV producer Ritu Dhawan.

Awards

He was conferred with Tarun Kranti Award at Rohini, New Delhi on 23 August 2014 along with Poorva Joshipura, the CEO of PETA.

Sharma has been conferred by Padma Bhusan by Government of India in 2015 in the field of Literature and Education. On 30 March 2015, he received a Padma Bhushan from President Pranab Mukherjee.

A news program, news programme, news show, or newscast is a regularly scheduled radio or television program that reports current events. News is typically reported in a series of individual stories that are presented by one or more anchors. A news program can include live or recorded interviews by field reporters, expert opinions, opinion poll results, and occasional editorial content.

A special category of news programs are entirely editorial in format. These host polemic debates between pundits of various ideological philosophies.

In the early-21st-century news programs – especially those of commercial networks – tended to become less oriented on hard news, and often regularly included "feel-good stories" or humorous reports as the last items on their newscasts, as opposed to news programs transmitted thirty years earlier, such as the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. They introduce substantial and pervasive changes to communication between businesses, organizations, communities, and individuals. These changes are the focus of the emerging field of technoself studies. Social media differ from traditional or industrial media in many ways, including quality,reach, frequency, usability, immediacy, and permanence. Social media operate in a dialogic transmission system (many sources to many receivers). This is in contrast to traditional media that operates under a monologic transmission model (one source to many receivers).
