The year 2016 began on a high for Kurt Majoor.
The 25-year-old had spent two years as a casual teacher in Corrimal High School's PE department and his hard work had finally been rewarded with a promotion to a more permanent position at the school.
The career he loved so much was just beginning to flourish.
Fifteen months later, Majoor is behind bars, his career in ruins, after being charged with having sex with two of his female students.
In both cases, the first of which occurred in November 2016 and the second in February 2017, Majoor befriended the vulnerable teens (both of whom were over the age of consent) via social media before meeting up with them in person outside school hours.
In the first incident, Majoor and the girl went for a drive to Corrimal Beach one evening where they began playing 'truth or dare' in the back of Majoor's car.
They then had sex before Majoor drove the girl home, court documents said.
Four months later, Majoor made contact with another student on social media, this time escalating his advances by sending the girl sexually explicit messages and images of his penis via Facebook and Snapchat and telling her she had a "good bum" and was "the prettiest girl in the school".
The teen agreed to meet Majoor in sand dunes near the same beach before school one morning in February.
The pair had sex, after which Majoor dropped her off a few blocks away from the school.
Rumours of the encounter soon got back to the teaching hierarchy, however both the girl and Majoor denied they were true when spoken to a week later.
The teen subsequently reported the matter to her mother and police, leading to Majoor's arrest.
He was remanded in custody at the time and sacked from the Department of Education.
However, in court on Wednesday, Majoor pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual intercourse with a person under care.
He will return to court next Friday for a sentencing date to be set.
