JACK GREEN - HUMANESQUE (1980, Reissue 1993)
Originally released in 1980, RCA Canada briefly reissued the album in 1993 and this CD edition is quite hard to find. Some years later (around 1998/2000), all of the Jack Green albums were reissued on Revolver Records and once again distribution rights for the Jack Green albums expired and were not renewed, hence the scarcity of those CD reissues.

THE BOYFRIENDS (& The Poppees) - LOST TREASURES (2005)
After The Poppees had released 2 BOMP! singles in 1975 and 1978...the band broke-up and while Alexander and Harris, as The Sorrows, put out two excellent LPs of skinny-tie power pop, Waxman and Lorenzo became the "punkier" Boyfriends.

This 2005 Japan anthology of released (both 7" singles are here) and unreleased Boyfriends sides also includes slightly different mixes of the two Poppees originals ("Jealousy" & "If She Cries". It includes the original version of "I Need Your Love" covered in 1983 by the Ramones on "Subterranean Jungle". The collection is now fetching ridiculous prices.

For more Poppees stuff, you can check the "Pop Goes The Anthology" (BOMP!)

BRAM TCHAIKOVSKY - THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING (1980)
CD REISSUE JAPAN 1998
"The Russians Are Coming" was released in 1980 with an added member. Dennis Forbes had been brought in to play guitar and The Rumour's Bob Andrews helped keyboards on the "Pressure" track. Due to the cold war of the time, the original title had to be changed to "Pressure" when it was released in the USA. The track list was also modified and a new artwork elaborated. Though not as brilliant as "Strange Man, Changed Man", this album had some fine songs (specially the great "Can't Give You Reasons"). The original british album was briefly reissued on CD in Japan, and is quite hard to find. "Pressure" was never reissued. This is the CD reissue

CHOO CHOO TRAIN - BRIAR HIGH (SINGLES 1988) (1992)

After working for a time as Pop the Balloon with future solo artist and producer Adam Schmitt, Menck formed Choo Choo Train (and the side groups Bag O'Shells and the Springfields for good measure) with Chastain in the late '80s and set out to conquer the world. Eleven simple tracks by the twinky trio (with guitarist Darren Cooper), including all of the Briar Rose and High EPs, were posthumously compiled as Briar High and issued over Menck's strenuous objections. Sanctioned or not, it documents the group's aerated Anglo-pop obsessions in lightly rendered cut-to-the-heart songs — "Flower Field," "When Sunday Comes (She Sighs)," "My Best Friend" — given a sparkly dusting of chiming guitars, snappy beats and Chastain's wimpiest vocals. Poignant, pretty and dizzyingly gentle power pop. Jeff Murphy of Shoes guests on "Every Little Knight"; Menck sings lead on "Big Blue Buzz" and "Wishing on a Star."

TRIBUTE TO BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD - FIVE WAY STREET (2006)
Bonus Disc Included

This tribute was put together by Eric Sorensen and features absolutely fantastic liner notes from noted expert John Einarson, author of several books for fans of mid/late 60’s rock, “Mr Tambourine Man: The Story of the Byrds' Gene Clark” and “Desperados: The Roots Of Country Rock" and "For What It's Worth: The Story of the Buffalo Springfield".

MOJO: "4 stars..vibrantly affectionate tribute to Buffalo Sprinfield. There`s respect aplenty here for the Springfield`s bejewelled legacy...mostly this hyper-jangly no-frills homage is aimed squarely at the shamelessly nostalgic."

UNCUT: "4 stars..affectionate postcard. Much like Not Lame`s earlier Gene Clark tribute, "Five WayStreet" gather enthusiastic true believers of the pop underground to pay respect to a strong, misunderstood catalogue. Participating artists may lack name reconitionbut, thanks to their intimacy with the Springfield oeuvre, strong performances abound. The Retros` "We`ll See", for instance, transforms a forgotten out-take into perhaps the great lost Springfield single, while Walter Clevenger turns "Burned" into a jange-and-harmony gem ala 1965 Byrds. Most startling is Andrew Gold`s locomotive, "Bluebird", a monster of controlled chaos, one sounding truest to the Springfield`s live legend".

The Power Of Pop: "Buffalo Springfield deserves to take its place as an integral part of the 60s pop pantheon. Highlights of this set Noctorum viz. Marty (The Church) Willson-Piper and Dave (Traffic) Mason with a spine-tingling Nowadays Clancy Cant Even Sing, Maplewoods sensitive I Am A Child, The Gripweeds muscular Down to the Wire, The Windbreakers ethereal Expecting To Fly, Jeff Larsons exciting Questions amongst others. Add also significant contributions from Walter Clevenger, George Usher Group, The Kennedys and Western Electric and you will agree that Five Way Street is a celebration that any fan of 60s pop-rock would want in on."-

GAME THEORY - LOLITA NATION (1987) (CD Edition)

Game Theory leader Scott Miller had never made much of a secret of his fondness for Big Star, but while Real Nighttime favored the sound of #1 Record and The Big Shot Chronicles suggested the harder-edged tone of Radio City, Lolita Nation sounded like Game Theory's variation on the themes of Big Star's masterfully damaged swan song, Third/Sister Lovers. Certainly Game Theory's most ambitious album, Lolita Nation was a two-LP set that combined some of Miller's most user-friendly power pop with dark, moody ruminations on betrayal, failed love, and mortality, bursts of avant-garde noise, and fragments of unclassifiable studio doodling, all thrown into a sonic Cuisinart through Miller's aggressive use of aural montage. Lolita Nation is more than a bit disorienting on first listen, though it finds the band playing at the top of their form on challenging material (new guitarist Donnete Thayer makes an impressive debut), and there are more than a few flat-out brilliant tracks (such as "Chardonnay," "The Waist and the Knees," and "The Real Shelia") alongside such head-scratchers as "Turn Me on Dead Man," "Watch Who You're Calling Space Garbage Meteor Mouth," and the 22nd track (which stubbornly defies titling). Taken as a whole and given time to fully absorb, Lolita Nation is probably Game Theory's finest and most impressive album, though it's also the worst place for a beginner to start examining their work.
