"Optimistic" was only released in France on the indie french New Rose record label. so basically, the CD is quite rare (outside of France, i guess) since it didn't sell and the record label was down the following year.
"Hallelujah Europa" is called "Hallelujah" on the back cover but the booklet indicates the correct title.

DM3 - JUST LIKE NANCY EP (1999)

DM3’s final ever single is pure class. Over the last two decades Dom Mariani has spent his time trying to write the perfect pop song and Just Like Nancy rates up there as one of his finest moments. Written as a tribute to girls in go-go boots, "Just Like Nancy" also finds Dom bringing the fun back to DM3’s sound.

Reduced to a two-piece at the time of recording (with Dom having to play bass himself) most bands would have just given up the game at this point. Not DM3. With Superscope’s Kevin Borrusso roped in provide additional guitar and Velo Zupanovich providing some all-too-cool handclaps, Just Like Nancy is a fitting epitaph to one of the 90’s finest power pop bands.

The other new song, "How Ya Feelin’" is just as good, perhaps even better with it’s slightly neo-psychedelic feel, Dom’s trademark crunching guitar and Marina Spadaccini’s great backing vocals.

This is the 7" pink vinyl edition and two previously available instrumentals; the farfisa driven "Rome" and the lovely "Oriana".replace the CD live tracks.

 Special note
This vinyl rip was made in 24 bit/96khz then resampled and dithered to 16bit/44.1khz with iZotope RX 2. It is now available in both lossy and lossless versions and comes with all the scans.

GIGOLO AUNTS - TALES FROM THE VINEGAR SIDE (1991)

The Gigolo Aunts took their name from the Syd Barrett song, the outfit is fronted by brothers Phil and Steve Hurley with vocalist/guitarist Dave Gibbs and drummer Phil Brouwer. After their first album "Everybody's Happy" released in 1988, they released in 1991 the rare LP "Tales From The Vinegar Side" available in Spain only

The album featured 11 songs (10 originals and a cover). The opening song being a cover of the Chris Bell classic "I Am The Cosmos". Dave Gibbs resurfaced as Velvet Crush's second guitarist in the early '90s, but returned full-time to his own group as its career began heating up abroad.

THE BENT BACKED TULIPS - LOOKING THROUGH (1990)

Dramarama had basically recorded more material than anyone was going to release at the time, so while the cream of the tunes became "Stuck in Wonderamaland", the rest surfaced as this collection first released in France. "Looking Through" is at once a rough-and-ready tribute to many different things garage, from '60s forebears to early-'80s punk/wave, and a chance for Dramarama's own special blend to surface. At its best, "Looking Through" offers up tracks that could have easily made a full-blown Dramarama album -- the melancholy emotional confusion of "Come (To Meet Me)" is especially fine, the most consistent treat throughout comes thanks to the many different covers, starting with the ripping version of Stevie Wonder's "I Don't Know Why",.The Faces' "Ooh La La" gets a sweet, uplifting acoustic take with some great Easdale singing. The album was later augmented by a further nine tunes from those sessions for its mid-'90s American re-release on Eggbert Records.

THE NERVES EP (1976) (1st Edition)

According to Paul Collins,  the black back cover which mentions "The Nerves Records Co.” is the 1st. back sleeve. It  also has an address in Hollywood. Paul Collins also said that Bomp pressed the other edition with the white back sleeve.

I guess the black back sleeve is the proper 1st pressing since the white one doesn’t list the "Nerves Record Co." info.

THE TREND - LUCKY DAY (1981)

In 1981, The Trend cut a single at what was then known as Kennett Sound Studio. The two songs were "Lucky Day" and the still popular "She's Hi-Fi," both written by John McMullan. The single came out just as Collier, Mitchell, and McMullan were headed to college at the University of Missouri in Columbia. Fuller decided to attend school at Murray State, in Kentucky, leaving the band in the process.

"Columbia was the perfect place for The Trend to develop," McMullan said. "Both sides of the single received airplay in Columbia, primarily on KCOU, acollege FM station that had a rabid underground following," he added. "The station's following translated into familiarity of our name with the new wave/power pop/punk crowd."

The Trend recruited Bill Joslyn, a Mizzou student from Lebanon, Mo., to replace Fuller, and decided to add Mike Astrachan on lead guitar.

"After playing a little while, the newer version of The Trend made the LP, THE TREND IS IN! in the summer of 1982,"

ROCKIN' HORSE - YES IT IS (1971, Expanded Reissue 2004)

The goal of Rockin' Horse was to revive the classic Liverpool sound -- in that regard, Yes It Is is a phenomenal album and an even better CD, filled up as it is with six bonus tracks. Jimmy Campbell and ex-Merseybeats bassist Billy Kinsley delivered up a record with a good rootsy feel to everything here, and the stuff that fits into a Merseybeat groove is authentic right down to the roughness in the bass work. Some of the rest is closer in spirit to what the Band shot for on Music From Big Pink and their self-titled album. Not all of it works, but what does -- which is most of it -- is a bracing update of mid-'60s British rock & roll. AMG

PROMISE - PROMISE?! (1980)

A couple of days ago, a friend of mine gave me one song "Back In My Heart" by a band called Promise. I'd never heard of them in 32 years and when i got some info about them, i was not really surprised just because it was a very RARE Limited-Pressing of 500. Then i learned it was listed in the almighty "Acid Archives" book.

Yesterday, with a little help from another friend I was able to find a very listenable rip (160, mp3) of the album. So, i decided to include this lost gem on PPC even though this is not my rip. Thanx to the original ripper.

Of course, if anyone has a better rip of the album, feel free to contact me.

The songs are ranging from strong Power Pop, to Beatles-influenced  just like Badfinger could sound in their best days.

On the RYM site, i found some notes by Curt Mangan (a band member)

"Born 1951 in Longmont, Colorado. Lived in Berthoud, Colorado for first 17 years with parents. My mother played piano and sang very well. My father was an auctioneer and had a fondnest for Ernest Tubbs, Leroy Van Dyke, Hank WIlliams and Chuck Berry. My earlist influense were Gene Autrey, Roy Rogers, Chet Atkins.
Starter playing at age 10 and everything changed at age twelve when I was ill with sleeping sickness and the Beatles happened. Began playing professionally at age 13, had first label interest at age 17.
Started Mangatube records at age 21, had local Denver area hit with a "A Song for Casey" with a band called Joe Cool (that is still playing today) which lead to a brief recording experince with 20th Century Fox records in 1976.
Since age 17, I i also worked at music stores and taught guitar lessons, plus learned how to repair guitars. in 1977, after three years of non-stop performing, recording etc, I return to retail music store so I could focus on writing.

Promise was form with two childhood friends Randy jones (bass) and Gary York (drums) and new friend Dan Dachel (Dan Mae guitar). we decide to to have some fun and do a project which ended up being the Promise project.
This band never played live until the record was finished and we began receiving major label and management interest because some of the Denver stations were playing the record and a song was added to Billboard's "new releases charts." We began to play live but immediately had some divisions in the band as too not wanting to play live and a change in direction of music.

Randy Jones is playing bass in Las Vegas, i hear that Gary York is still living in Colorado, Dan Dachel is living in Ft Collins, Colorado and is a fine luthier.
After Promise I went back to playing with Joe Cool and released an ep with several new songs that were produced by Mark Harmon (credits include the Band, Snuff Garrett, Leon Russell, Neil young). i left Colorado in 1984 and began writing jingles in San Diego while still persuing my writing. While in San Diego I wrote songs with Wayne Nelson, lead singer for the Littel River Band. I left San Diego in 1986 and moved to Morro Bay California, and began working for Ernie Ball. I stayed with Ernie Ball until 2003 and launched my own string company in in 2004. i have hundreds of unfinished songs and have started to organize them for a new recording project
