Charting the class struggle
I was looking into the historical data on strike days in Britain for a feature in Catalyst, but there's a lot more to discuss than we could fit in the paper, so I've extended it to a blog post.
The British miners strike of 1984/1985 - a retrospective view of some events at St. John's Colliery in Maesteg, South Wales
The following article was written by a Dutch comrade for the bulletin of the group 'Action and Thought'. It describes an action by South Wales striking miners in 1984 when they occupied three dock cranes at Port Talbot in an attempt to prevent the unloading of scab coal.
An added 'Postscript' gives some indication of life in Maesteg 25 years later - a situation that is similar to many other former mining communities.

1926-1985: So Near - So Far - a selective history of the British miners
A long text, completed in 2005, 20 years after the end of the miners strike. It certainly has no pretensions to being complete. It covers mainly the period from '26 to '85, sometimes sketchily, sometimes in great detail, sometimes subjective, sometimes just facts. Though chronological, it jumps around in style, with texts written by different people: mainly by endangered phoenix, but also by John Dennis, Dave Douglass, the Webbs, Joe Jacobs, Solidarity, Neil Fernandez, the Spanish dockers' Co-Ordinadora, UK Wildcat and Counter-Information.
