In fluid dynamics, angle of attack (AOA, or (Greek letter alpha)) is the angle between a reference line on a body (often the chord line of an airfoil) and the vector representing the relative motion between the body and the fluid through which it is moving. Angle of attack is the angle between the body's reference line and the oncoming flow. This article focuses on the most common application, the angle of attack of a wing or airfoil moving through air.
In aerodynamics, angle of attack specifies the angle between the chord line of the wing of a fixed-wing aircraft and the vector representing the relative motion between the aircraft and the atmosphere. Since a wing can have twist, a chord line of the whole wing may not be definable, so an alternate reference line is simply defined. Often, the chord line of the root of the wing is chosen as the reference line. Another choice is to use a horizontal line on the fuselage as the reference line (and also as the longitudinal axis). Some authors do not use an arbitrary chord line, but use the zero lift axis instead — zero angle of attack corresponds to zero coefficient of lift.
Attack may refer to:
In planar geometry, an angle is the figure formed by two rays, called the sides of the angle, sharing a common endpoint, called the vertex of the angle. Angles formed by two rays lie in a plane, but this plane does not have to be a Euclidean plane. Angles are also formed by the intersection of two planes in Euclidean and other spaces. These are called dihedral angles. Angles formed by the intersection of two curves in a plane are defined as the angle determined by the tangent rays at the point of intersection. Similar statements hold in space, for example, the spherical angle formed by two great circles on a sphere is the dihedral angle between the planes determined by the great circles.
Angle is also used to designate the measure of an angle or of a rotation. This measure is the ratio of the length of a circular arc to its radius. In the case of a geometric angle, the arc is centered at the vertex and delimited by the sides. In the case of a rotation, the arc is centered at the center of the rotation and delimited by any other point and its image by the rotation.
"My Way" is a song popularized by Frank Sinatra. Its lyrics were written by Paul Anka and set to music based on the French song "Comme d'habitude" co-composed, co-written and performed in 1967 by Claude François. Anka's English lyrics are unrelated to the original French song.
Paul Anka heard the original 1967 French pop song, Comme d'habitude (As Usual) performed by Claude François, while on holiday in the south of France. He flew to Paris to negotiate the rights to the song. In a 2007 interview, he said, "I thought it was a bad record, but there was something in it." He acquired adaptation, recording, and publishing rights for the mere nominal or formal consideration of one dollar, subject to the provision that the melody's composers would retain their original share of royalty rights with respect to whatever versions Anka or his designates created or produced. Some time later, Anka had a dinner in Florida with Frank Sinatra and "a couple of Mob guys" during which Sinatra said "I'm quitting the business. I'm sick of it; I'm getting the hell out."

Angle of Attack Show Episode 1 -- Flying from Homer, Alaska over the Cook Inlet to see grizzly bears. There were several challenges along the way, and the conditions were less than ideal. Could we eventually find grizzly bears? http://www.AviatorTraining.com http://www.AngleofAttack.co
This video presents an analysis of Angle of Attack (AoA) devices in the general aviation environment (GA). It promotes FAA policy concerning non-required/supplemental AoA based systems for GA airplanes.
In this video we'll explain how relative wind interacts with the chord line to produce angle of attack on any airplane's wing. You'll see several examples during takeoff, level flight, descent and landing. Your Support Makes our Videos possible! Thank You! Shield Attack is a mobile controlled Desktop/TV arcade game, allowing for anyone to use their Smartphone to throw frisbees into a game environment on their Desktop or TV. The Player can choose to use real throw gestures or flick the frisbee on the mobile screen to slice through and destroy anything on the big screen. By using mobile gesture recognition technology connected to an entire 3D City we have created a new way for smartphone users to interact with their TVs. The mobile application was developed using Adobe AIR with Flash (which gave us flexibility on the app’s distribution by using the same source for different platforms) and is seamlessly connected to the Unity Game through a HTML5 WebSocket. Creating the game environment in Unity allowed us to introduced mesh slicing to all th...

Quick render test with Arnold render, helicopter textured in Mari, animation in Maya. Some post effects in Nuke and After Effects. Background is part of my Matte Painting work, and I plan to do a full CG city with projection. I was inspired by films like Blood diamond, and after watching war footage from Afghanistan. I wanted to capture the intensity of both, and the Arnold render from Solid Angle is realistic enough for live action style sequences. Most of the detail comes from texturing in the Foundry's Mari. But the full ray tracing algorithms in Arnold helps to bring out the details. surrealdan@gmail.com Portfolio: http://surrealdan.blogspot.com/
I was sifting thru some footage & came across this clip & had to post it. The clip was suppose to be a 2nd angle long shot of Phil Jones doing a rail combo trick which I also tried to shoot a photo sequence of and it just so happened that as I was setting up for the photo Matt Wilson who was manning my HD camera caught me getting stung by a bee. I still remember how much my forearm hurt for like 20 minutes after that.

An F-35C aircraft flies a high angle of attack intentional departure test flight in November 2013. The video includes comments from the pilots and engineers testing the F-35C carrier variant's high angle of attack capabilities at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Md. Earlier we wrote about our visit to the Grim Reaper squadron at Eglin AFB: A key aspect, which is not widely appreciated, is the impact of the design focus on a JOINT strike fighter (JSF) on the USN F-35C variant of the aircraft. As Commander “Rags” Dorn XO of F-35-C squadron the “Grim Reapers” put it during the visit: The USN benefits from being co-located on Eglin, AFB with our JOINT Strike Fighter sister services. Flying the last JSF variant to be introduced, the Navy has been harvesting the work the USAF and USMC h...
