82-year-old man dies after pub fight with 72-year-old in Oakey

An 82-year-old man is dead after a fight with a mate outside a Queensland pub.

Police said the man, described as the aggressor in the scuffle, suffered a serious head knock when he fell to the ground after being pushed.

An 82-year-old man dies after getting involved in a fight with a friend in a hotel car park near Toowoomba. Nine News

The men had been drinking at Bernborough Tavern in Oakey, north-west of Toowoomba, on Wednesday when they broke into a heated argument in the car park about 2pm.

A police spokesman said it appeared the 82-year-old man threw a few punches before the 72-year-old man pushed him.

He said charges were unlikely but would not be ruled out until after a post-mortem investigation.

Police have reviewed CCTV of the fight and spoken to multiple witnesses.
