Nissan Titan pick-up truck heads to Australian

Nissan's behemoth pick-up is headed down under, getting converted to right-hand drive by Performax International. 

The Nissan Titan XD will join the Queensland-based outfit alongside other big US pick-up trucks like the Ford F250, Toyota Tundra and Chevrolet Silverado. 

Measuring a gigantic 5.8 metres in length and more than 2 metres wide, the Titan certainly has a commanding road presence worthy of its name. 

Power for the Titan comes from a 5.0-litre Cummins turbo diesel V8 engine that produces 235kW of power and 752Nm of torqyue and is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with power delivered to all four wheels. 

When it comes to these big pick-up trucks the big money question is how much can it tow/carry? Well, the payload for the Titan is only 900kg, similar to that of other smaller Australian dual cab utes or the Ram 2500 offered by rival outfit American Special Vehicles. However, towing capacity is rated up to an impressive 5.2 tonnes depending on towing attachment. 

Pricing starts at $139,000 before on-road costs for the crew-cab variant, $105,000 before on-road costs for the single cab and lastly the Pro-4X sports model that includes Bilstein suspension among other touches costing $135,000. 

The Titan rides on 20-inch alloy wheels, has extensive underbody protection and is fitted with trailer-sway control. While other features include a 360 degree camera, tyre pressure monitoring and in crew-cab variants it scores leather wrapped heated and cooled front captain's chairs and a large locking compartment under the rear bench seat. 

All models are converted in Queensland and are equipped with a three-year warranty.
