Bradford i/ˈbrædfərd/ is in the Metropolitan Borough of the City of Bradford in West Yorkshire, England, in the foothills of the Pennines 8.6 miles (14 km) west of Leeds, and 16 miles (26 km) northwest of Wakefield. Bradford became a municipal borough in 1847, and received its charter as a city in 1897. Following local government reform in 1974, city status was bestowed upon the wider metropolitan borough.
Bradford forms part of the West Yorkshire Urban Area conurbation which in 2001 had a population of 1.5 million and is the fourth largest urban area in the United Kingdom with the Bradford subdivision of the aforementioned urban area having a population of 528,155.
Historically a part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bradford rose to prominence during the 19th century as an international centre of textile manufacture, particularly wool. It was a boomtown of the Industrial Revolution, and amongst the earliest industrialised settlements, rapidly becoming the "wool capital of the world". The area's access to a supply of coal, iron ore and soft water facilitated the growth of Bradford's manufacturing base, which, as textile manufacture grew, led to an explosion in population and was a stimulus to civic investment; Bradford has a large amount of listed Victorian architecture including the grand Italianate City Hall.

On July 7th 2001 the Manningham area of Bradford experienced what has been described as the worst rioting in mainland Britain for 20 years. The riots erupted after weeks of tension fomented by the activities and threats of the National Front and the BNP. Written by Neil Biswas, Bradford Riots tells the story of that night of vicious rioting from the perspective of a group of young Asian men whose lives, families and community have been defined and decimated by these events. The scripts are based on a year of intense first-hand research within Bradford's Pakistani community. Biswas looks at this community from the inside to see how it lived before mass violence blew up its streets. Bradford Riots takes individual stories and seeks to explore why this violence happened, who was to blame...

Britain First held a successful day of action in the heavily-Muslim town of Bradford, in Yorkshire. Bradford is well known as a hotbed of Islamic extremism and colonisation. Around 40 Britain First activists gave out 1,500 newspapers during the afternoon in the town. The police soon started to harass our activists issuing us with Section 12 and 14 notices. They then issued Section 35 notices which meant we were to be immediately escorted out of the area of West Yorkshire completely. After the day of action ended, some of our activists were attacked by local Muslim extremists and suffered injuries and criminal damage to their vehicles.

The Scottish capital of Edinburgh is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Its Old Town and Royal Mile are filled with the ghosts of medieval merchants, body snatchers, and poets, while its Georgian-styled New Town shines with the glories of the Scottish Enlightenment. To see Edinburgh in all her glory, climb to Arthur’s Seat, the highest of the city’s seven peaks. Some historians believe this was the site of King Arthur’s legendary castle Camelot. Nearby, on another volcanic crag, rises Edinburgh Castle, the very symbol of Scotland itself. Over the last eleven centuries, this castle has been laid siege to 26 times but still it stands, a testimony to the indomitable spirit of the Scots. Edinburgh has long held a special place in the hearts of the monarchy. Her Majesty’s Yacht Br...
