The Simpsons PREDICTED a Donald Trump presidency... and it didn't end well: Time travel episode from 2000 featured 'broke' nation reliant on aid from CHINA

Donald Trump's bid for the White House and ascendancy in the polls has surprised many - but The Simpsons called it 15 years ago.
The cartoon foretold a Trump presidency in a surreal episode where Bart is given a window into the future - and found a country brought to its knees by financial mismanagement and a crime wave ushered in by The Donald.
In Bart to the Future, first aired in March 2000, a fortune teller gave Bart a glimpse of 2030 - just weeks after Trump vacated the White House.
The episode's alternate universe reveals that Trump, who will be 84 in 2030, left the country in an impossible amount of debt, and reliant on foreign aid from Europe and China.
This sorry state of affairs is the exact opposite of Trump's current campaign promise to 'Make America Great Again', and stop 'losing' to other nations.
The recently-unearthed episode is the latest in a series of eerie Simpsons predictions, in which the show has foreseen the Arab Spring, the Ebola crisis and the discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle.
In the episode's vision of the future, America is also at the mercy of an army of genetically-enhanced thugs, brought about by Trump programs designed to help the nation's youth which dramatically backfired.
The only person who can save the shattered United States is none other than the newly-elected President Lisa Simpson.
Despite her lofty ambitions to 'refill the oceans' and build the world's biggest book-mobile, her biggest task becomes rescuing the nation from its crippling debt.
An exchange from Lisa's first cabinet meeting, meeting a balding Millhouse in charge of the nation's finances, starts with a sobering financial summary.
Lisa says: 'As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad is it, Secretary Van Houten?'
He holds up a graph showing a financial death-plunge and replies: 'We're broke'.
Lisa later asks whether there is any money to fund her campaign pledges - to which another official replies: 'No. We borrowed from every country in the world.'
Lisa is later forced to announce an enormous tax hike in an attempt to right Trump's wrongs, which kills her approval ratings.
It also does nothing to placate the nation's creditors.
But the nation is eventually saved by Bart, a failed musician in the future vision, who uses his well-practiced ability dodging debt repayments to win the United States a reprieve.
As well as its prediction of Trump's presidential ambitions, which he has entertained since at least the 1980s, The Simpsons has given The Donald its signature treatment more recently.
Not long after his controversial campaign launch, where he called Mexican immigrants 'rapists' and 'drug dealers', The Simpsons published a short video featuring Homer and Trump in close quarters.
In the video Homer was slipped $50 by a campaign official to cheer on Trump at the launch, riffing on real-life allegations that The Donald had paid for support.
However, overexcited fans shunted him right behind Trump as he made his way down an escalator - prompting Homer to get sucked inside his much-commented-upon hairdo, where he found other lost souls including Amelia Earhart.
As soon as he was expelled from Trump's hair-vortex, Homer was collared by security guards and dumped back in Springfield.

Top 10 Baba Vanga Predictions for the Future.
Vanga was born in Strumica, then in the Ottoman Empire. She was a premature baby who suffered from health complications. In accordance with local tradition, the baby was not given a name until it was deemed likely to survive. When the baby first cried out, a midwife went into the street and asked a stranger for a name. The stranger proposed Andromaha (Andromache), but this was rejected for being "too Greek" during a period of anti-Hellenic sentiment within Bulgarian society. Another stranger's proposal was a Greek name, but popular with Bulgarians in the region: Vangelia (from Evangelos). In her childhood, Vangelia was an ordinary child with brown eyes and blonde hair. Her father was an IMRO activist, conscripted into the Bulgarian Army during World War I, and her mother died soon after. This left Vanga dependent on the care and charity of neighbours and close family friends for much of her youth. After the war, Strumica emigrated from Bulgaria to Serbia. The Serbian authorities arrested the father, because of his pro-Bulgarian activity. They confiscated all his property and the family fell into poverty for many years. Vanga was considered intelligent for her age. Her inclinations started to show up when she herself thought out games and loved playing "healing" – she prescribed some herbs to her friends, who pretended to be ill. Her father, being a widower, eventually remarried, thus providing a stepmother to his daughter. A turning point in her life was a tornado which lifted Vanga up and threw her in a nearby field (this claim has not been verified with meteorological records or other accounts from that time). She was found after a long search. Witnesses described her as very frightened, and her eyes were covered with sand and dust, she was unable to open them because of the pain.There was money only for a partial operation to heal the injuries she had sustained. This resulted in a gradual loss of sight. In 1925 Vanga was brought to a school for the blind in the city of Zemun (Kingdom SHS), where she spent three years, and was taught to read Braille, play the piano, as well as do knitting, cooking, and cleaning. After the death of her stepmother she had to go back home to take care of her younger siblings. Her family was very poor, and she had to work all day. In 1939 Vanga contracted pleurisy, although remained largely inactive for some years. The doctor's opinion was that she would die soon, but she quickly recovered. During World War II, Vanga attracted believers in her ability to heal and soothsay –a number of people visited her, hoping to get a hint about whether their relatives were alive, or seeking for the place where they died. On 8 April 1942 the Bulgarian tzar Boris III visited her. On 10 May 1942, Vanga married Dimitar Gushterov, Bulgarian soldier from the village of Krandzhilitsa near Petrich, who had come asking for the killers of his brother, but had to promise her not to seek revenge. Shortly before marriage, Dimitar and Vanga moved to Petrich, where she soon became well-known. Dimitar was then conscripted in the Bulgarian Army and had to spend some time in Northern Greece, which was annexed by Bulgaria at the time. He got another illness in 1947, fell into alcoholism, and eventually died on 1 April 1962. She continued to be visited by dignitaries and commoners. After the Second World War, Bulgarian politicians and leaders from different Soviet Republics, even Leonid Brezhnev, sought her counsel; in the 1990s, a church was built in Rupite by Bogdan Tomalevski with money left by her visitors. Vanga died on 11 August 1996 from breast cancer. Her funeral attracted large crowds, including many dignitaries. Fulfilling Vanga's last will and testament, her Petrich house was turned into a museum, which opened its doors for visitors on 5 May 2008.

A president is the leader of a country or a division or part of a country, typically a republic, a democracy, or a dictatorship. The title "president" is sometimes used by extension for leaders of other groups, including corporate entities.

The title President is derived from the Latin prae- "before" + sedere "to sit." Donald Trump
Donald John Trump, Sr. (born June 14, 1946) is an American businessperson and media personality. He is the chairman and president of The Trump Organization and the founder of Trump Entertainment Resorts. Trump's career, branding efforts, personal life, wealth, and outspoken manner have made him famous throughout the country. Since 2015, he is also a candidate for the Republican nomination for President of the United States in the 2016 election.
Trump is a native of New York City and a son of Fred Trump, who inspired him to enter real estate development. After two years at Fordham University and while studying at Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Trump worked for his father's firm, Elizabeth Trump & Son. Upon graduating in 1968 he joined the company, and in 1971 was given control, renaming the company "The Trump Organization". Since then he has built hotels, golf courses, and other properties, many of which bear his name. He is a major figure in the American business scene and has received prominent media exposure. The NBC reality show The Apprentice bolstered his fame, and his three marriages were extensively reported in tabloids.

The Simpsons
The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening for the Fox Broadcasting Company. The series is a satirical depiction of a middle class American lifestyle epitomized by the Simpson family, which consists of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. The show is set in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies American culture, society, television, and many aspects of the human condition.
The family was conceived by Groening shortly before a solicitation for a series of animated shorts with the producer James L. Brooks. Groening created a dysfunctional family and named the characters after members of his own family, substituting Bart for his own name. The shorts became a part of The Tracey Ullman Show on April 19, 1987. After a three-season run, the sketch was developed into a half-hour prime time show and was an early hit for Fox, becoming the network's first series to land in the Top 30 ratings in a season (1989–90).
Since its debut on December 17, 1989, the series has broadcast 587 episodes. It is currently airing its 27th season. The Simpsons is the longest-running American sitcom, the longest-running American animated program, and in 2009 it surpassed Gunsmoke as the longest-running American scripted primetime television series. The Simpsons Movie, a feature-length film, was released in theaters worldwide on July 27, 2007, and grossed over $527 million. On May 4, 2015, the series was officially renewed for seasons twenty-seven (2015–16) and twenty-eight (2016–17), consisting of 22 episodes each.

The Simpsons PREDICTED a Donald Trump presidency... and it didn't end well: Time travel episode from 2000 featured 'broke' nation reliant on aid from CHINA - Episode called Bart to the Future includes vision of the U.S. in 2030 - Lisa Simpsons has just been elected president - to succeed Trump - Nation's financial ruin due to Trump policies is revealed - In contrast to his 2016 rhetoric, U.S. is shown taking handouts from China - Lisa has to institute massive tax hikes in order to dig America out of its hole - Simpsons has 'predicted' world events before, including Ebola, the discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle and the Arab Spring Donald Trump's bid for the White House and ascendancy in the polls has surprised many - but The Simpsons called it 15 years ago. The cartoon foretold a Trump presidency in a surreal episode where Bart is given a window into the future - and found a country brought to its knees by financial mismanagement and a crime wave ushered in by The Donald. In Bart to the Future, first aired in March 2000, a fortune teller gave Bart a glimpse of 2030 - just weeks after Trump vacated the White House. The episode's alternate universe reveals that Trump, who will be 84 in 2030, left the country in an impossible amount of debt, and reliant on foreign aid from Europe and China. This sorry state of affairs is the exact opposite of Trump's current campaign promise to 'Make America Great Again', and stop 'losing' to other nations. The recently-unearthed episode is the latest in a series of eerie Simpsons predictions, in which the show has foreseen the Arab Spring, the Ebola crisis and the discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle. In the episode's vision of the future, America is also at the mercy of an army of genetically-enhanced thugs, brought about by Trump programs designed to help the nation's youth which dramatically backfired. The only person who can save the shattered United States is none other than the newly-elected President Lisa Simpson. Despite her lofty ambitions to 'refill the oceans' and build the world's biggest book-mobile, her biggest task becomes rescuing the nation from its crippling debt. An exchange from Lisa's first cabinet meeting, meeting a balding Millhouse in charge of the nation's finances, starts with a sobering financial summary. Lisa says: 'As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad is it, Secretary Van Houten?' He holds up a graph showing a financial death-plunge and replies: 'We're broke'. Lisa later asks whether there is any money to fund her campaign pledges - to which another official replies: 'No. We borrowed from every country in the world.' Lisa is later forced to announce an enormous tax hike in an attempt to right Trump's wrongs, which kills her approval ratings. It also does nothing to placate the nation's creditors. But the nation is eventually saved by Bart, a failed musician in the future vision, who uses his well-practiced ability dodging debt repayments to win the United States a reprieve. As well as its prediction of Trump's presidential ambitions, which he has entertained since at least the 1980s, The Simpsons has given The Donald its signature treatment more recently. Not long after his controversial campaign launch, where he called Mexican immigrants 'rapists' and 'drug dealers', The Simpsons published a short video featuring Homer and Trump in close quarters. In the video Homer was slipped $50 by a campaign official to cheer on Trump at the launch, riffing on real-life allegations that The Donald had paid for support. However, overexcited fans shunted him right behind Trump as he made his way down an escalator - prompting Homer to get sucked inside his much-commented-upon hairdo, where he found other lost souls including Amelia Earhart. Top 10 Baba Vanga Predictions for the Future. Vanga was born in Strumica, then in the Ottoman Empire. She was a premature baby who suffered from health complications. In accordance with local tradition, the baby was not given a name until it was deemed likely to survive. When the baby first cried out, a midwife went into the street and asked a stranger for a name. The stranger proposed Andromaha (Andromache), but this was rejected for being "too Greek" during a period of anti-Hellenic sentiment within Bulgarian society. Another stranger's proposal was a Greek name, but popular with Bulgarians in the region: Vangelia (from Evangelos). In her childhood, Vangelia was an ordinary child with brown eyes and blonde hair. Her father was an IMRO activist, conscripted into the Bulgarian Army during World War I, and her mother died soon after. This left Vanga dependent on the care and charity of neighbours and close family friends for much of her youth. After the war, Strumica emigrated from Bulgaria to Serbia. The Serbian authorities arrested the father, because of his pro-Bulgarian activity. They confiscated all his property and the family fell into poverty for many years. Vanga was considered intelligent for her age. Her inclinations started to show up when she herself thought out games and loved playing "healing" – she prescribed some herbs to her friends, who pretended to be ill. Her father, being a widower, eventually remarried, thus providing a stepmother to his daughter. A turning point in her life was a tornado which lifted Vanga up and threw her in a nearby field (this claim has not been verified with meteorological records or other accounts from that time). She was found after a long search. Witnesses described her as very frightened, and her eyes were covered with sand and dust, she was unable to open them because of the pain.There was money only for a partial operation to heal the injuries she had sustained. This resulted in a gradual loss of sight. In 1925 Vanga was brought to a school for the blind in the city of Zemun (Kingdom SHS), where she spent three years, and was taught to read Braille, play the piano, as well as do knitting, cooking, and cleaning. After the death of her stepmother she had to go back home to take care of her younger siblings. Her family was very poor, and she had to work all day. In 1939 Vanga contracted pleurisy, although remained largely inactive for some years. The doctor's opinion was that she would die soon, but she quickly recovered. During World War II, Vanga attracted believers in her ability to heal and soothsay –a number of people visited her, hoping to get a hint about whether their relatives were alive, or seeking for the place where they died. On 8 April 1942 the Bulgarian tzar Boris III visited her. On 10 May 1942, Vanga married Dimitar Gushterov, Bulgarian soldier from the village of Krandzhilitsa near Petrich, who had come asking for the killers of his brother, but had to promise her not to seek revenge. Shortly before marriage, Dimitar and Vanga moved to Petrich, where she soon became well-known. Dimitar was then conscripted in the Bulgarian Army and had to spend some time in Northern Greece, which was annexed by Bulgaria at the time. He got another illness in 1947, fell into alcoholism, and eventually died on 1 April 1962. She continued to be visited by dignitaries and commoners. After the Second World War, Bulgarian politicians and leaders from different Soviet Republics, even Leonid Brezhnev, sought her counsel; in the 1990s, a church was built in Rupite by Bogdan Tomalevski with money left by her visitors. Vanga died on 11 August 1996 from breast cancer. Her funeral attracted large crowds, including many dignitaries. Fulfilling Vanga's last will and testament, her Petrich house was turned into a museum, which opened its doors for visitors on 5 May 2008. -

Donald Trump's bid for the White House and ascendancy in the polls has surprised many - but The Simpsons called it 15 years ago.
The cartoon foretold a Trump presidency in a surreal episode where Bart is given a window into the future - and found a country brought to its knees by financial mismanagement and a crime wave ushered in by The Donald.
In Bart to the Future, first aired in March 2000, a fortune teller gave Bart a glimpse of 2030 - just weeks after Trump vacated the White House.
The episode's alternate universe reveals that Trump, who will be 84 in 2030, left the country in an impossible amount of debt, and reliant on foreign aid from Europe and China.
This sorry state of affairs is the exact opposite of Trump's current campaign promise to 'Make America Great Again', and stop 'losing' to other nations.
The recently-unearthed episode is the latest in a series of eerie Simpsons predictions, in which the show has foreseen the Arab Spring, the Ebola crisis and the discovery of the Higgs-Boson particle.
In the episode's vision of the future, America is also at the mercy of an army of genetically-enhanced thugs, brought about by Trump programs designed to help the nation's youth which dramatically backfired.
The only person who can save the shattered United States is none other than the newly-elected President Lisa Simpson.
Despite her lofty ambitions to 'refill the oceans' and build the world's biggest book-mobile, her biggest task becomes rescuing the nation from its crippling debt.
An exchange from Lisa's first cabinet meeting, meeting a balding Millhouse in charge of the nation's finances, starts with a sobering financial summary.
Lisa says: 'As you know, we've inherited quite a budget crunch from President Trump. How bad is it, Secretary Van Houten?'
He holds up a graph showing a financial death-plunge and replies: 'We're broke'.
Lisa later asks whether there is any money to fund her campaign pledges - to which another official replies: 'No. We borrowed from every country in the world.'
Lisa is later forced to announce an enormous tax hike in an attempt to right Trump's wrongs, which kills her approval ratings.
It also does nothing to placate the nation's creditors.
But the nation is eventually saved by Bart, a failed musician in the future vision, who uses his well-practiced ability dodging debt repayments to win the United States a reprieve.
As well as its prediction of Trump's presidential ambitions, which he has entertained since at least the 1980s, The Simpsons has given The Donald its signature treatment more recently.
Not long after his controversial campaign launch, where he called Mexican immigrants 'rapists' and 'drug dealers', The Simpsons published a short video featuring Homer and Trump in close quarters.
In the video Homer was slipped $50 by a campaign official to cheer on Trump at the launch, riffing on real-life allegations that The Donald had paid for support.
However, overexcited fans shunted him right behind Trump as he made his way down an escalator - prompting Homer to get sucked inside his much-commented-upon hairdo, where he found other lost souls including Amelia Earhart.
As soon as he was expelled from Trump's hair-vortex, Homer was collared by security guards and dumped back in Springfield.

In accordance with local tradition, the baby was not given a name until it was deemed likely to survive. When the baby first cried out, a midwife went into the street and asked a stranger for a name. The stranger proposed Andromaha (Andromache), but this was rejected for being "too Greek" during a period of anti-Hellenic sentiment within Bulgarian society. Another stranger's proposal was a Greek name, but popular with Bulgarians in the region: Vangelia (from Evangelos). In her childhood, Vangelia was an ordinary child with brown eyes and blonde hair. Her father was an IMRO activist, conscripted into the Bulgarian Army during World War I, and her mother died soon after. This left Vanga dependent on the care and charity of neighbours and close family friends for much of her youth. After the war, Strumica emigrated from Bulgaria to Serbia. The Serbian authorities arrested the father, because of his pro-Bulgarian activity. They confiscated all his property and the family fell into poverty for many years. Vanga was considered intelligent for her age. Her inclinations started to show up when she herself thought out games and loved playing "healing" – she prescribed some herbs to her friends, who pretended to be ill. Her father, being a widower, eventually remarried, thus providing a stepmother to his daughter. A turning point in her life was a tornado which lifted Vanga up and threw her in a nearby field (this claim has not been verified with meteorological records or other accounts from that time). She was found after a long search. Witnesses described her as very frightened, and her eyes were covered with sand and dust, she was unable to open them because of the pain.There was money only for a partial operation to heal the injuries she had sustained. This resulted in a gradual loss of sight. In 1925 Vanga was brought to a school for the blind in the city of Zemun (Kingdom SHS), where she spent three years, and was taught to read Braille, play the piano, as well as do knitting, cooking, and cleaning. After the death of her stepmother she had to go back home to take care of her younger siblings. Her family was very poor, and she had to work all day. In 1939 Vanga contracted pleurisy, although remained largely inactive for some years. The doctor's opinion was that she would die soon, but she quickly recovered. During World War II, Vanga attracted believers in her ability to heal and soothsay –a number of people visited her, hoping to get a hint about whether their relatives were alive, or seeking for the place where they died. On 8 April 1942 the Bulgarian tzar Boris III visited her. On 10 May 1942, Vanga married Dimitar Gushterov, Bulgarian soldier from the village of Krandzhilitsa near Petrich, who had come asking for the killers of his brother, but had to promise her not to seek revenge. Shortly before marriage, Dimitar and Vanga moved to Petrich, where she soon became well-known. Dimitar was then conscripted in the Bulgarian Army and had to spend some time in Northern Greece, which was annexed by Bulgaria at the time. He got another illness in 1947, fell into alcoholism, and eventually died on 1 April 1962. She continued to be visited by dignitaries and commoners. After the Second World War, Bulgarian politicians and leaders from different Soviet Republics, even Leonid Brezhnev, sought her counsel; in the 1990s, a church was built in Rupite by Bogdan Tomalevski with money left by her visitors. Vanga died on 11 August 1996 from breast cancer. Her funeral attracted large crowds, including many dignitaries. A corporatist of one stripe or another makes no difference in the White House. You could technically argue that a Clinton Presidency could set the Democratic Party BACK decades as a failed, corporatist administration with no desire to make changes would give Republicans huge momentum for many decades. Soon Trump will be calling her Lazy Hillary, as she has always been unwilling to work hard, and you can see that in her campaign.
Allowing corporate-led government to dominate over the needs of everyday Americans not only undermines Democratic values, it shows how low the Democratic Party has sunk in order to appease a money-grubbing system which rewards bad actors in an environment of slush funds, backdoor deals and political 'favors'.
A President sets the tone, and the administration follows through on enacting their vision. Having a person at the helm of government who simply wishes to let their own work slide, has no major vision and is not a hard-worker themselves gives little hope for this country for real change. The only way to continue the revolution is to stand on principle. Not personality.
Vote your principle, and don't ever let someone say otherwise. You should sleep soundly at night, even if others find it easy to ignore the plight of Americans and serve their own financial interests via Wall Street and corporate puppetry.
Vote your conscience in November!!! Do not forget the struggle to do what is right, even if others tell you to join the group-think or be ostracized. Independent thinking is the only thing that has ever changed the world for the better.

You could technically argue that a Clinton Presidency could set the Democratic Party BACK decades as a failed, corporatist administration with no desire to make changes would give Republicans huge momentum for many decades. Soon Trump will be calling her Lazy Hillary, as she has always been unwilling to work hard, and you can see that in her campaign.
Allowing corporate-led government to dominate over the needs of everyday Americans not only undermines Democratic values, it shows how low the Democratic Party has sunk in order to appease a money-grubbing system which rewards bad actors in an environment of slush funds, backdoor deals and political 'favors'.
A President sets the tone, and the administration follows through on enacting their vision. Having a person at the helm of government who simply wishes to let their own work slide, has no major vision and is not a hard-worker themselves gives little hope for this country for real change. The only way to continue the revolution is to stand on principle. Not personality.
Vote your principle, and don't ever let someone say otherwise. You should sleep soundly at night, even if others find it easy to ignore the plight of Americans and serve their own financial interests via Wall Street and corporate puppetry.
Vote your conscience in November!!! Do not forget the struggle to do what is right, even if others tell you to join the group-think or be ostracized. Independent thinking is the only thing that has ever changed the world for the better.
