Davis is a city in the U.S. state of California and the most populous city in Yolo County. It had a population of 65,622 in 2010, not including the on-campus population of the University of California, Davis, which was 5,786. Davis is included in the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Davis grew into a Southern Pacific Railroad depot built in 1868. It was then known as "Davisville", named after Jerome C. Davis, a prominent local farmer. However, the post office at Davisville shortened the town name simply to "Davis" in 1907. The name stuck, and the city of Davis was incorporated on March 28, 1917.
From its inception as a farming community, Davis has been known for its contributions to agricultural policy along with veterinary care and animal husbandry. Following the passage of the University Farm Bill in 1905 by the California State Legislature, Governor George Pardee selected Davis out of 50 other sites as the future home to the University of California's University Farm, officially opening to students in 1908. The farm, later renamed the Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture in 1922, was upgraded into the seventh UC general campus, the University of California, Davis, in 1959.

In Davis, California 17% of residents commute to work, more than any other American community. To put that in perspective, the national average is 0.05%. Davis become the country's first Platinum Bicycle City in 2005, four decades after city planners decided they needed to actively protect biking or it would lose the fight to cars. Today, the city has over 100 miles of bike lanes; 95% of all major roads offer this option. They also have a handful of bike signals, traffic slowing devices, bike roundabouts, bike underpasses, a bike museum and two bicycle advisory committees. Aamuyöllä hiljaa
Makaan vain katsellen sua
Ei vuosien saatto
Ole saattanut pois sitä halua
Joka ottaa mut valtaan
Vaikka osaankin sut jo ulkoa
Anteeksi jos herätin sut
Sanot: ei se mitään ja kiinnityt minuun
Kun katsot minua silmiin
Sillon mä tahdon sun käsiisi
Antaa kokonaan itseni
Et lähemmäksi sä pääsisi
Lähemmäksi pääsisi
Taivas aukeaa
Ja järisee maa
Kun koskettaa sisinpämme toisiaan
Kun rakastellaan se meidät yhteen liimaa
Hukuttaudutaan suloiseen kiimaan
Ja kaikki on niin totta ja oikeaa
Tässä ja nyt taivas aukeaa
Ei oo pakko mihinkään ei oo
Pakko mitään pakko vain tämän hetken
Pääsin sisälle elämääs
En sano sanaakaan ja sä ymmärrät kaiken
Tunnen jälkeen kaikkien
Näiden vuosien yhä tunnen niin
Kanssas yhtyä voin yhdeksi palaksi
Katsomaan olevaista suoraan silmiin
Ja mä huomaan sulle sieluni syvään kumartaa
Ja kaikki esteet hajoaa
Sun liekkis nuolee ja puhdistaa
Ihanasti polttaa
Taivas aukeaa
Ja järisee maa
Kun koskettaa sisintämme toisiaan
Kun rakastellaan se meidät yhteen limaa
Hukuttaudutaan suloiseen kiimaan
Ja kaikki on niin totta ja oikeaa
Tässä ja nyt taivas aukeaa
(Taivas aukeaa)
Taivas aukeaa
Aamuyöllä hiljaa
