REMEMBER LOVE WINS

PURCHASE “REMEMBER LOVE WINS”

7″ VINYL DIGITAL

Hey Friends, Family and Gramblers,

It was Sunday night and I was playing with Phil Lesh and Friends down at his music venue Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA. There had been protests all weekend at airports across the country as people were being shut out of a country they know and love. Among all the despair and sorrow we were all feeling, that night at Terrapin felt like a big hug both backstage as we discussed the goings on and also in the Grate Room where we came together as band and audience to experience what we needed most that night….the healing sounds of music. I was touched and even brought to tears by the sounds and sights that occurred that night. There we all were, in that room, together, supporting each other and finding refuge from the craziness happening in our country. It was then I realized that focusing on the solution instead of the problem and approaching it with love and compassion felt a lot better and more human than being angry and spiteful. It was late that night after the show lying in bed, mind reeling, unable to sleep that I wrote this song. Imagine a modern day “Kumbaya” if you will. My hope is that this song will be sung around campfires for years to come, spreading the message to “Remember Love Wins”.

I hope you enjoy this video and if you do, the song is available for purchase here. All proceeds will go to Stand With Standing Rock and Planned Parenthood. Remember, love wins.

xoxo,

Nicki

ABOUT

California native Nicki Bluhm is a singer, songwriter and performer. In 2008 Bluhm released her first album, Toby’s Song and with its release put together her band The Gramblers. Nicki went on to release her second effort Driftwood (2012) establishing her and the band as a nationally touring act. While playing shows around the country she and the band decided to pass the time and long drives filming what became their viral “Van Sessions” covering nostalgic songs of their past. In the aftermath, Bluhm and The Gramblers became headliners, touring constantly throughout North America, including festivals like Bonnaroo, Outside Lands, Newport Folk and Telluride Bluegrass.

The band continued to record and put out two albums including their self titled Nicki Bluhm and The Gramblers (2013) and their most recent effort Loved Wild Lost (2015), launching them on an extended US tour and their debut European tour. The Chicago Tribune wrote “Nicki has filled a void in music with her brand of vintage-tinged rocking country soul – music that’s like an enchanting friend you’ve known for a short while, but feels like you’ve known forever.”

At the completion of their 2016 Loved Wild Lost tour, Nicki was asked to join the The Infamous Stringdusters in support of their album Ladies and Gentlemen. That project led to a collaboration with Ryan Adams at Telluride Bluegrass, Newport Folk and on Stephen Colbert’s The Late Show. Nicki has also had the honor of singing with musicians including Warren Haynes and Gov’t Mule, Karl Denson, Boz Scaggs, Anders Osborne, Bonnie Raitt, Phil Lesh, Jackie Green, and many others.

In early 2017, inspired by the current US political climate, Nicki wrote a song called “Remember Love Wins”. She recorded and released it, with an accompanying video, in a seven-day burst of creative energy. It received a nod from Rolling Stone saying: “‘Remember Love Wins’, like Pete Seeger singing ‘We Shall Overcome,’ hits not just on the struggle ahead, but our ability to eventually come out on the right side of history.” Most recently, Nicki was the voice of Sarah on the tender duet “No Wrong Way Home” in the short animated film Pearl, which was nominated for an Oscar.

Nicki’s future holds new songs, recordings and many more performances as a solo performer, as a guest vocalist and with The Gramblers. Both on record and in her live performances, she will continue to explore new directions, touching her listeners with her smoky vocals and dynamic stage presence.

Stay tuned for the next chapter…

THE GRAMBLERS

Steve Adams

Bass, Vocals
Bassist Steve Adams ties together many worlds, finding a meeting ground for feel-good jams, sparkling pop, dust-kicking country/bluegrass, all with a close eye on the deep groove of Motown’s James Jamerson. As the bassist for Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers and party-rockers ALO, Adams is a national touring veteran and festival regular. When songwriting from home, Adams fires up the drums, keys, and his trusty ukulele, which one can often find him roaming with at festivals seeking out a good jam. In fall of 2016, Adams started Los Gardeners, a project to explore band-leading through original material and deep-cut classics with a rotating crew of Bay Area musicians. Both off and on tour, Adams can often be found digging through the bins at local record stores, drawing inspiration from the great vinyl past to filter into his creative endeavors.

Mike Curry

Drums
Mike Curry has brought groove, backbeat, and musical texture to help shape the Gramblers’ genre-spanning sound since 2008. Affectionately referred to as ‘Curry’, he loves playing live shows with his Grambler family and gives everything to bring the best Grambler vibe to fans. Curry considers himself a classic Rocker with Country, Funk, and Soul influences.

Dave Mulligan

Guitar, Vocals
Dave Mulligan first met the Gramblers during the Driftwood sessions at Mission Bells studio, where he was recording his second solo effort “Runaway Blues.” By the time Driftwood was released, he had officially joined the band as rhythm guitarist & vocalist, and has been gramblin’ ever since. Dave can also be found playing shows with the Dave Mulligan Band, performing as an acoustic duo with his brother Mark Mulligan, or hanging out at his beloved Sierra Nevada Brewery singing the “Sierra Nevada Song” in exchange for free beer.

Deren Ney

Guitar
Deren is a guitarist and songwriter from the Bay Area. He has written or co-written several of the band’s songs. Allman Brothers biographer Alan Paul called him “a secret weapon of sorts, playing snappy, pungent guitar lines that accentuate and drive the music without overwhelming the songs.” He’s a multi-instrumentalist and is often seen playing melodica/keys in the Van Sessions. He’s also half of the country music duo, B-Western, with Carly Ritter.
