Air force

An air force, also known in some countries as an air army, is in the broadest sense, the national military organization that primarily conducts aerial warfare. More specifically, it is the branch of a nation's armed services that is responsible for aerial warfare as distinct from an army, navy, or a marine corps. Typically, air forces are responsible for gaining control of the air, carrying out strategic and tactical bombing missions, and providing support to land and naval forces.

The term "air force" may also refer to a tactical air force or numbered air force, which is an operational formation either within a national air force or comprising several air components from allied nations. Air forces typically consist of a combination of fighters, bombers, helicopters, transport planes and other aircraft.

Many air forces are also responsible for operations of the military space, intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM), and communications equipment. Some air forces may command and control other air defence assets such as anti-aircraft artillery, surface-to-air missiles, or anti-ballistic missile warning networks and defensive systems. Some nations, principally Russia, the former Soviet Union and countries who modelled their militaries along Soviet lines, have an air defence force which is organizationally separate from their air force.

Legal prostitution

Three months prior to being discharged from the US Air Force in 1990, she applied to the nearby Chicken Ranch brothel in Nevada, a legal brothel, and worked continuously as a legal and licensed prostitute in legal brothels in Nevada. She has worked at the Chicken Ranch, the Mustang Ranch (from 1994–97), the Sagebrush Ranch, the Cherry Patch Ranch, Sheri's Ranch, the Kit Kat Guest Ranch and the Moonlite Bunny Ranch since 2000. As a legal Nevada prostitute, she works as an independent contractor who turns in half of her money made at the brothel to the house. She earns US$10,000-$50,000 a month and is considered the most popular and highest earner at Moonlite Bunny Ranch Amy persuaded her employer to offer a Military Appreciation Night: a special promotion for free sex to soldiers.

Moonlite BunnyRanch

The Moonlite BunnyRanch (often misspelled Moonlight, though that is the correct spelling of the road on which it is addressed) is a legal, licensed brothel in Mound House, Nevada, United States, 6 miles (10 km) east of Carson City. The ranch is owned and operated by Dennis Hof. The Love Ranch (previously known as the BunnyRanch Two), a separately licensed brothel, is located about a mile south of the Moonlite BunnyRanch, near two other brothels (the Kit Kat Guest Ranch and the Sagebrush Ranch).

History

The brothel, now known as the Moonlite BunnyRanch, first opened in 1955 as the Moonlight Ranch. There is a historical marker on the premises, found just inside of the property's original main gate, as the ranch is located near a stop on the original Pony Express. It operated discreetly until 1970, when Nevada began regulation of houses of prostitution. Dennis Hof, a frequent customer, purchased the business in 1993 for $700,000 and invested another $500,000 in upgrading the facilities and decor.

Sheri's Ranch

Sheri's Ranch is a legal brothel, resort and spa in Pahrump, Nevada. Unlike many other brothels in the state, it styles itself as a "resort", with upscale rooms and furnishings, tennis courts, a spa and outdoor swimming pool. A sports bar is also on the premises.

In January 2001, the business was purchased by Chuck Lee, a retired Chicago homicide detective of 20 years, former owner of an AT&T retail store and car dealer from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Lora Shaner, a former madam of the brothel, wrote a book about her experiences there: Madam: Chronicles of a Nevada Cathouse (1999, ISBN 0-929712-57-9), later reissued and extended as Madam: Inside a Nevada Brothel (2001, ISBN 0-7596-0367-7).

In 2005, Sheri's Ranch sought local zoning changes in Pahrump in order to build a 700-plus residential subdivision on its 330 acres (130 ha) known as Mountain Shadows Resort.
